Thank you for this video. I have a similar challenge with two clients where I not only have to add a string to the caption, but where I have to use completely different IPTC templates, or at least different fields.
My workflow for a hockey game looks as this:
    1. I shoot the pictures and lock the ones I want to ingest.
    2. I ingest the pictures into Photo Mechanic applying my IPTC template for client #1.
    3. I edit/crop/etc. the pictures in Lightroom and export them to a sub-folder.
    4. In Photo Mechanic again I add player's names (using code replacements) to the caption field of the edited pictures.
    5. Then I send off the pictures to client #1.
    6. Then I copy all pictures to a new sub-folder for client #2 applying the IPTC template for client #2.
    7. From there I then have to add player's name again.
    8. Then I upload the pictures to client #2.
Step 7 is the problem in this workflow because it's redundant work (with step 4).
I also tried to use the field "Persons shown" for adding player's namens but then I have to add {persons} to the caption field again.
Do you have any idea how to solve this? Thank you very much!

I am sure that I could figure out how to not have to replicate the work to add player names. Once the names are attached to each image, you should be able to change the other fields without deleting the existing player name information.

Probably. The quickest way to find out would be to test it.
