Great video Robin. I bought my seat and foam kit from TRF. Did an installation instructions come with your kit? What about any attachment clips to attach seats to frame? Thanks again!

Hey, great video. I’m about to do this to two 72 TR6 seats. Right after you stripped everything down and right before you paint, what are you doing to seal/clean the rust?

Mine is a 72 too! In the video I am scrubbing the old paint and rust back to the metal with steel wool, wire brush and sometimes sand paper. Then typically coating with rust converting paint to make sure there is no rust left. There was not much rust to be honest but I did not want to paint over anything dodgy. Then painting with black rustoleum paint. Maybe overkill but I only want to do it once :-) It took 1 day total per seat or there about ... maybe a little longer. You should take your time on the prep as it makes a difference in the final result.

Would love to know what the mistakes on the first seat were so I can avoid them on my '72.

In the end both seats I think were about the same result. For the first one I did a lot of second guessing myself on how it went together. The original construction is a little different from the new foam, so the first just took longer. Also I did not buy enough spray glue so I ran out of glue half way through the first one. I think you need 3 cans at least.

Hey Robin, how did you attach the bolster foams (side foams) and still have access for the seat back webbing? Did you just cut holes in the foam and the white "cloth" backing once it was glued down? The metal "cage" is hidden once the bolster foams are glued down. There's no other info on this step anywhere! You're the only game in town and I need your help please!

Here is the tine slice which shows this ua-cam.com/video/BD7jO5tZsEw/v-deo.html . As I recall the white cloth parts of the bolster foams wrap over a metal frame piece and I think as I recall glue back on themselves and the foam. I don't recall them interfering with the cage. When I get home tonight I will take a photo with the seat back off and share it.

@@robingrosset6941 I'll take a picture of my seat back as well to compare - if I glue that thin strip of the white fabric to the frame like yours looks to be, it definitely blocks the cage... but maybe it's an optical illusion from the video?

@@robingrosset6941 imgur.com/a/TQ4ISsK you can see where I'm running into difficulties - there is a small flap on the "inner" side of the foams, which I believe (from your video at least) are clipped to the inner seat rail, which blocks access to the cage and thus strapping the webbing to the cage. It's driving me nuts.

@@robingrosset6941 Thanks for posting! Really appreciate it - So i take it you glued the white fabric down to the rail and then clipped the areas where the cage would interfere so you could get the webbing hooks around the wire cage rail? It's a real PITA - from the seat wanting to tip over to the foam not wanting to behave. Personally, I think they should have given a little more foam particularly on the side piece to make it fit easier. I'll post a pic when it's done - I hope itll look as tidy as yours do.
