Yes PLEASE! More videos on The Book of Rites! I am very curious about rites giving instruction on the treatment of the destitute.

Great! I would love to do more videos about the Book of Rites. Treatment of the destitute is a topic I haven't thought about. I am also very interested in this issue!

I think the detail I found most interesting about this is the role of ritual - that rituals are meant to mark out the different roles in society and teach people what their roles mean. I don't think I really understood the importance of ritual before, apart from its religious significance. It's also curious to note how often the image of a carpenter's set-square appears as an analogy to setting standards in society. I've seen it in the Han Feizi in reference to 法 or the exacting legal systems set up by the ruler, and I've also seen it in Mozi as a symbol of objective right and wrong.
On an unrelated note, I've been studying the role of the celestial bodies in Western philosophy and literature recently, and I was curious about whether their role in Chinese culture is similar. The seven classical planets have acquired deep symbolic significance thanks to the mythology, astrology and philosophy embedded in our culture, for example, Venus as a radiant, feminine, generative influence associated with birth and growth, contrasted with Mars the baleful, masculine, destructive planet. How are the sun, moon, stars and planets spoken of in Chinese philosophy, literature and art (if at all)?

I think you are right that in today's secular society people forget the real significance of rituals. For instance, the wedding is definitely a ritual to place a woman in a servitude position. She is given away by her father (her master since she was born) to her husband (her new master hereafter), and change her name to her husband's name (now she belongs to her husband's family). Of course, many women prefer to just have a civil ceremony rather than a wedding at a church to rebel against this implicit significance.
You are right, the carpenter's tool kit does play a significant role in classic Chinese philosophical and political theorisation, especially around the warring state period. Maybe it is because carpenters became extremely important during this time. The legendary carpenter Lu Ban was also a well-known figure as a military engineer. If you are interested, you can check out a work allegedly by him in the title of 鲁班书.

The celestial bodies play extremely important roles in Chinese philosophies and medical texts. To answer your question, I need to do a bit research to refresh my memory on the subject. Or better still, maybe I should make a video about this topic. What do you think?
