Rail er rule onujayi jodi 5 years to 12 years er modhye child er age hoi, tahole Birth/Seat na chaile Half Ticket price pay korte hoi, jodi seat chan tahole full payment. I am sharing the Original Instruction from Railway Website below.
"In case of child age 5years and under 12 years of age for whom berth / seat ( in reserve class ) is sought at the time of the reservation , full adult fare for such child shall be charged . However if berth / seat is not sought for the child for the above mentioned age at the time of the reservation , then half of adult fare shall continue to the charged subject to minimum distance for charge . Full reservation charges , Supplementary charges and Development surcharges shall be levied separately ."
