Anette's ability to sing faster songs is gold , people gave her so much crap for not having the stage presence but if you look at the songs she had to sing and how fast she had to sing it takes a lot of breath work to pull that off, if you look at Floor attempting these songs she struggles with them and cant go nearly as fast.
THIS!!!🙌 Those songs are so hard to sing in terms of breath, rhythm, speed that they will roll over you if you don't keep up. I tried to sing Amaranth and I was literally out of breath like running a marathon after the first chorus.... I think people who never sung themselves will have a hard time recognizing this because the songs sound so nice and melodical but they are actually cruel😅
I'm so glad somebody finally pointed this out. It takes a lot of skill and breath control to sing at such a quick tempo, and neither Tarja or Floor does it as well as Anette. Floor has even admitted she has trouble with some of the faster Anette songs, and that's why they are limited in the set list. Btw I love all three vocalists.
@@funcentral9121 Yes I agree, in addition if you have listened to the studio version of Storytime the phrases are superimposed together , I don't know how to explain, but once a sentence is almost finished, it begins , which is impossible to reproduce live and which makes it more difficult to reproduce live =)

i love Floor with all my heart, i love Tarja too. They are all talented, but to those who are putting Anette down, remember that 2 of nighwish's best selling and successful albums was sung with Anette as vocals. Open minded music lovers back then didn't compair but instead they appreciated the music that was created after Tarja's era, and that was amazing. Even Tuomas respected them enough to decline all the requests of having Floor re-record all the old songs.
Well, Rock and metal music used to sell A LOT in those years. No hate for Anette at all, I really respect her. To be honest I find Tarja the most overrated of the 3 Nightwish singers. She was monotonous, repetitive (always uses that Falsettone in evrything) and she never had to prove her skills singing songs written for another singer, on the other hand Floor and Anette had to do that, they had to proove their skills singing songs written to fit another singer (tarja). That aside , I respect Anette and loved the album with her but, to be fair, I don't find the argoment of "the CD with Anette sold a lot of copies" to be honest Metal and rock music used to sell TONS of copies in those years, not only Nightwish. The era post 2013-2014 is the hip pop/ trap/ Kpop, pop, elettronic era. Even Huge band like Korn and slipknot are selling a very low numbers of copies in their last albums confronted with the years of golden era of metal and rock music. And even leaving the metal world aside, evrey artist is struggling to sell copies nowadays. Always a lower number of people buy CD , even pop CD. Imaginarium was a great album but sold way less copies than Dark Passion Play, something like half of the copies. Why ? Because DPP was in 2007(great years for rock music and metal) and Imaginarium was relased in 2011 when the decrase of rock and metal was already beginning. In 2015 the metal industry was already down as hell. Just look at the numbers of cd sold by huge names like Slayer, Slipknot, Korn, Pearl Jam...all of their latest albums are bad selled albums confronted to their previous.

Es como el McDonald's es la hamburguesa y alimento más vendido del mundo, pero no quiere decir que es el mejor alimento. No desmerito a Anette es buena voz, pero su rango es muy limitado. Por eso Toumas prefirió una voz como la de Jansen, más versátil para sus futuros proyectos el cual aunque no alcanzaron las ventas de Dark Passion Play, fueron más influyentes ya que por ejemplo "Human" fue el álbum de Nigthwish más escuchado de toda su carrera gracias al internet y el disco de Metal más pirateado del 2020 en todo el mundo según google.

La voz mas encantadora que hay, esta canción transmite eso, magia y sueños y me parece que la voz de Anette es perfecta. Adoro a cada vocalista que ha tenido Nightwish pero durante su etapas reaoectivas, por lo que siente que nadie interpreta esta cancion como Anette.
I think Anette performances are actually a hit or miss, for example this was pretty good in my opinion, I don't expect her to try and sing opera, and she controlled the voice as much as she could without overdoing. A lot of other times I heard her change the melody or doing always the same things with her voice in random parts of the song and a lot of times it didn't turn out well.
fair enough but so does floor . Listen to Waken 2018 and you'll realise it's not just Annette the touring is a tiring business for the girls. But when Annette gets it right I don't think Floor can touch her on most songs.
Live is another thing alltogether. She has the stronger midrange voice of all them three and that is a blessing and a curse. I mean floor can't do this song like her but when she goes high like on the poet she even does the choir boy tenor voices lol. Which is different. Tarja is zero on the lower registers and midrange as well...she sings unforgiven and it makes it operetic. Well everybody does its own thing I guess. Annete is the most easily exposed. She would do gospel pop rock etc great.
I love Annette's voice so much, she's my favourite Nightwish singer. She doesn't deserve the hate she gets at all, completely uncalled for. Her voice is lovely in this, I wish there were more live videos with her.
Check out, if you haven't already, Annette's original songs, she's genuinely very good in them. The problem was that she is a rock singer and was given largely metal material. Take another very good female rock singer, let's say Alanis Morisette - she'd also perform typically metal songs so so. But it cuts both ways, switch the material and Tarja/Floor could very well be underwhelming in rock material.
Estoy sorprendido,es la primera vez que veo este vídeo y quedé maravillado con Annette,que energía en el escenario,se sentía feliz saltando y eso me hizo sentír a mi feliz ,de verdad que lástima que no la supimos valorar cuando estuvo en la banda
Es que en sí los dos álbumes que grabó están hechos para ella, también es la primera vez que veo esta canción en vivo con Anette y me gustó mucho, pero a nivel de Tarja (con su tono de ópera) obvio las canciones anteriores no alcanza los tonos, y Floor (que es mi favorita por siempre) tiene esa combinación entre metal y ópera que a todos nos vuelve locos, y sin problema canta los éxitos anteriores como los nuevos. No tengo nada contra Anette, pero de verdad no me gusta como canta las demás canciones, yo por eso dejé de escuchar a Nightwish cuando ella entró. I like this version, this is the version of the band that recorded and Anette does a great job. In the studio it was perfect, live it was still really great. If you compare the individual singers for Nightwish, remember that Anette was chosen because she was really great and very different from her predecessor. And so is Floor.
Nightiwsh said there was a dark cloud over this tour with Annette but I don’t see it here. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes but I hope to see her share the stage with them again on at least one song

Me gusta Annette como cantante, el problema que tengo con ella es que no es metalera y eso se nota muchisimo en el escenario, cuando empieza esta cancion Floor hace un headbanging super epico. Y con Annette me falta esa "actitud metalera"

magnifica, gran grupo y gran cantante, sus conciertos super entretenidos, cada una de las vocalistas de Nightwish a tenido exito, Annete tal vez no tenga el rango vocal de Tarja ni su elegancia, tal vez no tenga la voz de Floor y su presencia, pero su actitud , su estilo y conexión con el público es maravillosa

Este álbum es de Anette, mejoró muchísimo, una pena que no la valoren, pero aunque les duela esta canción queda mucho mejor con su voz que con la de Floor.
A mí sí me encanta "Storytime" en voz de Floor pero solo en el "Showtime Storytime", qué presentación tan llena de energía. Luego la volví a escuchar en el "Vehicle of Spirit" y "Live in Buenos Aires" y terminó sonando acartonada, simplemente tratando de repetir una fórmula, se siente vacía.
Here's a fact. Anette's voice is the one on two of the best Nightwish albums. And she kills it on those. So say what you want but her voice is immortal.
The songs recorded by Anette can only be sung with excellent quality by herself. Not even the idolized Floor conveys the same emotion as Anette in the songs from Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum. In fact, Imaginaerum is the band's best album by far.
You can tell this song was written for her because she can sing it really well..... Floor does have a really amazing and powerful voice, but she can't sing the line "I am the empty crib of Peter Pann" like Anette does. Because they are different voice ranges. None is better or worse... Just different
While I like Tarja and Floor, I find myself going back to the DPP and Imaginaerum albums the most. And to the Anette haters out there, I think the albums weren't their best in spite of Anette, it was because of Anette, Tuomas, Jukka, Marco, Emppu, and Troy. That combination made those albums great. And yes, I am on a first name basis with them. ;-)
I have to agree, I have always found her voice so addictive. I am crazy about Floor and Tarja, but people don't appreciate just how good Anette is. Her belting is terrific. I love the emotion she adds.

I think every Nightwish singer has a reason to be and I don't think they've ever chosen a wrong or bad singer. Anette may not have had the control of Tarja or the power of Floor but she did have her own personality and lyricism, and to be honest she is the one who sounds the most like her studio version live (on her own songs). The issue for me was that she could unfortunately not carry Tarja's songs, but many of my Nightwish favourites are on Imaginareum anyway... My point in the end is it's useless to hate anyone. I've seen many Floor haters in these comments and like... ok? She can sing many of both Tarja's and Anette's songs beautifully live, she's versatile and knows how to carry a show, so even if you preferred Anette you can't deny Floor's power and vocal ability. Just like I, who prefers Floor, can't deny Anette's or Tarja's talent. Let's just enjoy Nightwish now ok :)
Tredorre They all have their own style, and while I have my utmost respect for Tarja, and just LOVE Floor, Anette has an undeniable advantage that on my list of favourite songs from Nightwish, half of the songs are performed by Anette. Just think about that for a moment. My ultimate night’s wish is to see all three of them on the same stage, each shine in their own area. Because as much as I respect Tarja and love Floor, neither of them could perform Amaranth or The Islander (just to name my top favourites from the Anette era) in a way that satisfied me. If only they would all be still part of Nightwish, working together and do what they do best and let the another do their best where they cannot (if it makes sense). That would be heaven. Well... perhaps in another life.

Most of my favourite songs are also from Anette's time but I must admit there are a lot of them which I prefer when Floor is singing them live, which is why she is my favourite Nightwish singer. But Anette does have many songs that are way better when she sings them, like slow, love slow which I LOVE! My dream would be even just one concert where they could all get together, do their signature songs and perhaps sing some together, it would truly be the greatest show on earth (pun intended).
I'm a Floor's fan even before she was with Nightwish, but I must admit Annette's voice somewhat fits a bit better for this song... I dont know, I feel the backing vocals in the studio version along her voice gives that whimsical feeling Thoumas was searching to express in "Imaginareum"

Thats because this song is set in a lower range. In the songs were she doesnt have to belt high notes she does well. But when she has to sing at the top of her range she struggles. The problem is that she came following Tarja who can sing almost an entire octave higher than her, so most of the old songs were out of her confortable range. And even many of the songs written for her, in a few songs she would be required to hold G5's, which she just couldnt do consistently live and would either crack or go flat. The constant cracking on the high belt parts also affects the rest of the performance as the voice feels sour as a result.
I like Tarja and Anette as Female singers, and i know that there will be no new records of the old songs with Floor, that is for me the reason to buy only there live concerts albums, because, i like the performance from Anette and respected that, but for me the best singing of storytime is with Floor as a female singer.
Her voice is a real contrast for the music, much brighter than the other two. I love the three equally, but I'd say Anett had the most uplifting voice, possibly because it's the brightest.
Everyone has their own opinion and understand Storytime was written for Anette and I have big smile on my face seeing her on stage. It is hard to compare a apple and a pear...but in favour of Floor,. The 'opera.part" in this song is a tape with Amette while Floor sings that part herself.

Think about this, Tuomas didn't want a singer that was like Tarja to replace her, in his own words they 'hit the jackpot' with Anette because of her voice being an ideal storyteller voice. They literally wanted something different than the previous singer, not a copycat operatic voice. In fact the songs that got her the job were her covers of Ever Dream, Nemo, Romanticide, Ghost Love Score and Higher Than Hope, all of which had a studio version created with her voice as well. She didn't get hired for no reason, if you have a problem with her as a singer, why blame her? Look at the people telling her how to do her job and how to do it, she was pretty versatile and has AMAZING low vocals but Tuomas didn't utilize that aspect of her voice hardly at all, except on songs like 'Song of Myself' during the 2nd part but still, she's a very capable singer IMO. And don't get me wrong I love Tarja and adore Floor, but I think they are entirely different styles and comparing them based on the 'color' of their voice as if its the same thing as how much 'power' they have, is not really fair and an incorrect way of judging vocal ability.

La voz mas encantadora que hay, esta canción transmite eso, magia y sueños y me parece que la voz de Anette es perfecta. Adoro a cada vocalista que ha tenido Nightwish pero durante su etapas reaoectivas, por lo que siente que nadie interpreta esta cancion como Anette.
I think Anette performances are actually a hit or miss, for example this was pretty good in my opinion, I don't expect her to try and sing opera, and she controlled the voice as much as she could without overdoing. A lot of other times I heard her change the melody or doing always the same things with her voice in random parts of the song and a lot of times it didn't turn out well.

fair enough but so does floor . Listen to Waken 2018 and you'll realise it's not just Annette the touring is a tiring business for the girls. But when Annette gets it right I don't think Floor can touch her on most songs.
Live is another thing alltogether. She has the stronger midrange voice of all them three and that is a blessing and a curse. I mean floor can't do this song like her but when she goes high like on the poet she even does the choir boy tenor voices lol. Which is different.
Tarja is zero on the lower registers and midrange as well...she sings unforgiven and it makes it operetic. Well everybody does its own thing I guess. Annete is the most easily exposed. She would do gospel pop rock etc great.

I love Annette's voice so much, she's my favourite Nightwish singer. She doesn't deserve the hate she gets at all, completely uncalled for. Her voice is lovely in this, I wish there were more live videos with her.
Check out, if you haven't already, Annette's original songs, she's genuinely very good in them. The problem was that she is a rock singer and was given largely metal material. Take another very good female rock singer, let's say Alanis Morisette - she'd also perform typically metal songs so so. But it cuts both ways, switch the material and Tarja/Floor could very well be underwhelming in rock material.

Estoy sorprendido,es la primera vez que veo este vídeo y quedé maravillado con Annette,que energía en el escenario,se sentía feliz saltando y eso me hizo sentír a mi feliz ,de verdad que lástima que no la supimos valorar cuando estuvo en la banda
Es que en sí los dos álbumes que grabó están hechos para ella, también es la primera vez que veo esta canción en vivo con Anette y me gustó mucho, pero a nivel de Tarja (con su tono de ópera) obvio las canciones anteriores no alcanza los tonos, y Floor (que es mi favorita por siempre) tiene esa combinación entre metal y ópera que a todos nos vuelve locos, y sin problema canta los éxitos anteriores como los nuevos. No tengo nada contra Anette, pero de verdad no me gusta como canta las demás canciones, yo por eso dejé de escuchar a Nightwish cuando ella entró. Tiene muy chida energía pero el mismo Tuomas lo dijo "su personalidad no encajaba con el resto de Nightwish" 🤷🏻♀️

I like this version, this is the version of the band that recorded and Anette does a great job. In the studio it was perfect, live it was still really great.
If you compare the individual singers for Nightwish, remember that Anette was chosen because she was really great and very different from her predecessor. And so is Floor.

Nightiwsh said there was a dark cloud over this tour with Annette but I don’t see it here. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes but I hope to see her share the stage with them again on at least one song
Siempre he preferido a Anette sobre Floor. Se llevó además todo el peso de ser la sucesora de Tarja. Hizo un trabajo increíble.
Y la verdad que los trabajos con Floor son los de menor calidad de Nightwish, algo muy curioso es que Anette es en la actualidad la que está sacando mejores trabajos musicales.
Para la muestra su último álbum de solista Strong que no baja de una media de 4/5 por la prensa en general.

Por ahí era una cuestión de la imagen que querían dar en esa época!! Vocalmente y a nivel feeling con el público estuvo bien!! magnifica, gran grupo y gran cantante, sus conciertos super entretenidos, cada una de las vocalistas de Nightwish a tenido exito, Annete tal vez no tenga el rango vocal de Tarja ni su elegancia, tal vez no tenga la voz de Floor y su presencia, pero su actitud , su estilo y conexión con el público es maravillosa

Este álbum es de Anette, mejoró muchísimo, una pena que no la valoren, pero aunque les duela esta canción queda mucho mejor con su voz que con la de Floor.
A mí sí me encanta "Storytime" en voz de Floor pero solo en el "Showtime Storytime", qué presentación tan llena de energía. Luego la volví a escuchar en el "Vehicle of Spirit" y "Live in Buenos Aires" y terminó sonando acartonada, simplemente tratando de repetir una fórmula, se siente vacía.
Esta canción es de ella, realmente ella la interpreta, la canta increíble!!!
Los dos discos que hicieron con Annette son totalmente de ella ❤️.

The songs recorded by Anette can only be sung with excellent quality by herself. Not even the idolized Floor conveys the same emotion as Anette in the songs from Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum. In fact, Imaginaerum is the band's best album by far.
I don't agree that Imaginaerum is the Nightwish's best album. But I do agree that songs recorded by Anette can only be sung by herself.
You can tell this song was written for her because she can sing it really well..... Floor does have a really amazing and powerful voice, but she can't sing the line "I am the empty crib of Peter Pann" like Anette does. Because they are different voice ranges. None is better or worse... Just different
While I like Tarja and Floor, I find myself going back to the DPP and Imaginaerum albums the most. And to the Anette haters out there, I think the albums weren't their best in spite of Anette, it was because of Anette, Tuomas, Jukka, Marco, Emppu, and Troy. That combination made those albums great. And yes, I am on a first name basis with them. ;-)

I have to agree, I have always found her voice so addictive. I am crazy about Floor and Tarja, but people don't appreciate just how good Anette is. Her belting is terrific. I love the emotion she adds.

The Dark Element is where Anette should be. Tarja solo is where she should be. Fronting Nightwish is where Floor should be.
I think every Nightwish singer has a reason to be and I don't think they've ever chosen a wrong or bad singer. Anette may not have had the control of Tarja or the power of Floor but she did have her own personality and lyricism, and to be honest she is the one who sounds the most like her studio version live (on her own songs). The issue for me was that she could unfortunately not carry Tarja's songs, but many of my Nightwish favourites are on Imaginareum anyway... My point in the end is it's useless to hate anyone. I've seen many Floor haters in these comments and like... ok? She can sing many of both Tarja's and Anette's songs beautifully live, she's versatile and knows how to carry a show, so even if you preferred Anette you can't deny Floor's power and vocal ability. Just like I, who prefers Floor, can't deny Anette's or Tarja's talent. Let's just enjoy Nightwish now ok :)
Tredorre They all have their own style, and while I have my utmost respect for Tarja, and just LOVE Floor, Anette has an undeniable advantage that on my list of favourite songs from Nightwish, half of the songs are performed by Anette. Just think about that for a moment. My ultimate night’s wish is to see all three of them on the same stage, each shine in their own area. Because as much as I respect Tarja and love Floor, neither of them could perform Amaranth or The Islander (just to name my top favourites from the Anette era) in a way that satisfied me. If only they would all be still part of Nightwish, working together and do what they do best and let the another do their best where they cannot (if it makes sense). That would be heaven. Well... perhaps in another life.

Most of my favourite songs are also from Anette's time but I must admit there are a lot of them which I prefer when Floor is singing them live, which is why she is my favourite Nightwish singer. But Anette does have many songs that are way better when she sings them, like slow, love slow which I LOVE! My dream would be even just one concert where they could all get together, do their signature songs and perhaps sing some together, it would truly be the greatest show on earth (pun intended).
I'm a Floor's fan even before she was with Nightwish, but I must admit Annette's voice somewhat fits a bit better for this song... I dont know, I feel the backing vocals in the studio version along her voice gives that whimsical feeling Thoumas was searching to express in "Imaginareum"

Annette does such a great job on this.... I so wish there were more examples of her performing to this level
and that sums up anette's career with nightwish. every concert was a crapshot.
Thats because this song is set in a lower range. In the songs were she doesnt have to belt high notes she does well. But when she has to sing at the top of her range she struggles.
The problem is that she came following Tarja who can sing almost an entire octave higher than her, so most of the old songs were out of her confortable range. And even many of the songs written for her, in a few songs she would be required to hold G5's, which she just couldnt do consistently live and would either crack or go flat. The constant cracking on the high belt parts also affects the rest of the performance as the voice feels sour as a result.

I like Tarja and Anette as Female singers, and i know that there will be no new records of the old songs with Floor, that is for me the reason to buy only there live concerts albums, because, i like the performance from Anette and respected that, but for me the best singing of storytime is with Floor as a female singer.

Everyone has their own opinion and understand Storytime was written for Anette and I have big smile on my face seeing her on stage.
It is hard to compare a apple and a pear...but in favour of Floor,. The 'opera.part" in this song is a tape with Amette while Floor sings that part herself.

Think about this, Tuomas didn't want a singer that was like Tarja to replace her, in his own words they 'hit the jackpot' with Anette because of her voice being an ideal storyteller voice. They literally wanted something different than the previous singer, not a copycat operatic voice. In fact the songs that got her the job were her covers of Ever Dream, Nemo, Romanticide, Ghost Love Score and Higher Than Hope, all of which had a studio version created with her voice as well. She didn't get hired for no reason, if you have a problem with her as a singer, why blame her? Look at the people telling her how to do her job and how to do it, she was pretty versatile and has AMAZING low vocals but Tuomas didn't utilize that aspect of her voice hardly at all, except on songs like 'Song of Myself' during the 2nd part but still, she's a very capable singer IMO. And don't get me wrong I love Tarja and adore Floor, but I think they are entirely different styles and comparing them based on the 'color' of their voice as if its the same thing as how much 'power' they have, is not really fair and an incorrect way of judging vocal ability.

Pd: Tuomas es quien supo adaptar las voces de cada una para crear esas obras maestras y que Anette llego en la época más turbulenta de nighwish, y se rifo sin titubear
