Huge thanks to Jonathan Rogers who gave his time for this interview at Gamescom.
Special thanks to CatMasterOP for some of the gameplay footage in the video.
Ziz is cyclone in POE2
It looks slow and clunky but not as bad as wow but yeah its slow clunky. Am i wrong?
I loved his enthusiasm. Such glee
@@matthewshaw3641 Defently wrong it look perfectly fine game must be slower to be able to get feeling of what's happening not like in poe 1 you just fire one time all things die then after you offscreen most of map you see one rare with 6 mods and souleater and he crush you like a bug :D ... this game try to make more accurate rpg game with some impact on skills and actions and slower dosent mean clunky you will be still plenty of fast ,but you need to understand that they show you leveling charcter at low level without almost no supportgems and items ... you want to fly at this stage??? i hope they dont make charcters again to fast and just to break the game with zoomers... who cant understands what's happening on map just clicking like crazy and all to die till something offscreen kills you :D
So awesome seeing someone who can barely contain their excitement about their game compared to Blizzard.
Jonathan is so excited lol, the passion for their game is so obvious and it’s nice to see instead of the more sterile and “professional” interaction with a lot of other studios.
He seems like such a pleasure to chat with
@@absolutelynotno I am not sure about chatting with him. If you say one word, he will try to say a thousand words in one minute :D But great to see the enthusiasm
too bad they have no money to buy stable servers to show us good quality product as a result of their passion
True, Its truly remarkable
@@ivaniivanovi4408 Huh?
Seeing how passionate Jonathan is makes me so excited for this game
He did so well!
i felt he was passive agressive trying to defend points about how slow the game feels lol
@@JanDarkyy exactly, i tested it, its slow as HELL, big no for me, anything can stun you, will stay on poe 1
Bro, I felt it through the screen. He is so eager to show what they have been cooking. True gamer. Not just a dev.
You only seen the early game so far. Remind yourself how the PoE 1 campaign feels like ...
I love how enthusiastic the devs are about making this game. It's refreshing to see people not only love the project their working on, but also talk about it from the perspective of themselves as gamers as well, who want the game to be good for themselves. Compare that to Diablo 4 where the devs had 0 idea how to even play their game...
He really had that "older brother wanting to show his lil sib this cool ass game and how its reeeeeaaaallly cool" energy XD. Absolutely adorable.
@@KikoKay-Kay Absolutely, right on the money lmao. Definitely felt like that. He was so excited that he would get disappointed when his "lil brother" wasn't playing correctly, and when they cut the interview short he still wanted to yap on about the game. Absolutely awesome to see passionate devs still in the industry. New Zealand is really lucky to have such a strong dev team like GGG to represent them... For me they're my developer All Blacks.
@@readifdumb he is passionate about making game for himself rather than community.
97% of poe1 players choose trade softcore, 2% choose Ruthless, and yet they make slow and boring game as poe2. Recharge flasks at well etc. It will be garbage, because it targets a very small subset of ARPG players.
@@marisbury PoE 1 is too fast paced. You piano your potions running and teleporting at hyper speed across a map where everythings blowing up and then die to one off screen ability or a random exploding mob. It's ridiculously punishing and hard and overly fast. It's engaging sure, but a lot of the design is you just running in at full speed and doing as much damage before you die to a boss and rinse repeat. That's not fun design imo. The game is also too complicated and punishing when trying to craft or put together items that require certain stats, or having to overly worry about sockets. PoE 2 is simplifying the game while keeping the build depth, and making fights need more than 1 button spam, and making it so you actually have to beat a boss without cheesing. I find this approach speaks more to me, as PoE 1 is more fun at the start when you are slow, while at the end it feels like a slot machine where you're just going hyperspeed clearing maps.
I personally think a balance needs to be struck, and PoE 2 looks like the balance. Also watching Zizz play the game, it doesn't look that slow imo, it's still reasonably fast, maybe as fast as Diablo 4, which is fine. The gameplay looks more purposeful. I can't even remember most bosses names in the acts of PoE 1 because of how fast a lot of them were.
@@marisbury just play poe 1 and hold your tongue if it isn't for you? such a self centered comment get a grip

As a disabled gamer with hands impairment I love that you mentioned that. The accessibility of games in this regards is something that's very rarely talked about in this industry. Thank you Ziz
This is probably what's going to keep me in PoE1
Sorry to break it to you in case you really are disabled but this "disabled" rethoric some PoE1 content creators are pushing for has nothing to do with actual disabled people.... they just have an obsession with 1 button and afk builds because they are scared of actually playing the game for some reason. My suspicion is they are afraid for their career as they know they aren't very good at playing games and they will be dethroned by new content creators that do know and are generally better then them. It might also just be that it's easier to mindlessly play a game for them as a content creator since having an active playstyle in a game would make it more draining to play 24/7 like they do.
I completely agree. I'm worried for POE2 with dodge based bosse etc, multi skills being the focus, plus juggling potions. I map as much as I can to my right hand mouse, but I think POE 2 might completely push away disabled gamers :|
@@adriandraganescu6040 What are you on about? Content creators do 'easy' builds because people are clicking on them more, disabled or not. They can see the statistics. And of course they'll then play a build that people are actually interested in too. Player skill is only a fraction of what it takes to be a successful content creator.
Your suspicion sounds more like projection to me lol
@@krusel1454 I bet, tell me any other game where CC's are so interested if disabled people can play it or not. You'll find none. It is in fact extremely disrespectful to those people to pretend you care about disability just to push your own agenda.. absolutely disgusting.
just watching johnathon get so excited explaining what they did in poe 2 is great. reminds me of when other developers actually enjoyed their projects too, atleast u know when u get a game from ggg is sweat blood and tears in the code. not corporate.
I cant believe this is a real game that is going to come out. Even now I think I'm in a dream.
It's insane... Two months.
Also played it at Gamescom.... It's f*cking awesome!!
For FREEEEE
It will be like 10 times worse than PoE1 though. I am sad they kill poe1 for that instead.
@@marisburythey aren’t killing poe1, they are going to be developing for them in tandem. Two separate games and they’re both great
Can tell Jonathan plays tf outta this game. He watchin the gameplay and giving comments like "total waste of that skill right there LMAO NOOB" gives it away and it's great lol
"You uh... might want to use grenades YOU NOOOOB!"
14:58 - Ziz got roasted by Jonathan Rogers - Achievement Unlocked! 😅😅
I like how Jonathan kept trying to get Ziz to combo abilities and he just kept 1 buttoning rolling slam, typical POE1 player
Because combo skills are very unintuitive and there's a good reason pretty much no game requires them for the tedium alone. If it was a skill rotation then that would be a different thing, but requiring building-up ground effects before you can actually start doing damage sounds awful.
@@Deaudie I kinda agree here..but it could feel good who knows. I have faith if its not received well then it will just be rolled over with future updates and we wont have to worry about doing that the whole game
@@Deaudie I kinda agree too. I can count the many times builds are even written off in POE1 as 'two button' builds. We like being able to live the power fantasy and storm the gates. Only time will tell. The game looks inrecredible and im sure I'll enjoy it. Just not yet convinced it will have the same charm. I hope im wrong!
@@Deaudieskill combos, which I think are superior in every way to the more generic “rotations,” is very doable and amazing when done well. It allows you to have very powerful moves that require a little more timing, skill, or luck to pull off. I just hope they don’t make it where you have to be a keyboard ninja to pull them off, because I probably personally won’t be able to.
Very different genre, but dark age of Camelot had a good way of doing melee skill chains. You had conditional abilities as well - can only be used after evading, for example. Like I said, this allows you to give powerful abilities without having to balance them where they can’t just be spammed (which lazy or less imaginative games have done with cooldowns).
Now that I think about it, isn’t that similar to how ed/contagion works/worked? It’s been a while. It can be done poorly as well. If it makes it so twitchy that everyone is having to ice their hands after 30 minutes of playing.
@@Deaudie Depends on the ramp up time. 3 Fissure casts before doing anything looks bad, but throwing 1 grenade into a sniper shot explosion is fine.
Also combo-ing for white mobs is probably a waste of time anyways, it's more for bosses and rares i guess
The fact Jonathan had a 5 minute answer to Ziz's question about being hard to see what to do with support gems and it got cut off at 1 minute is very funny.
A dev nerding out about their game is pretty damn entertaining.
And not to continually beat on Blizzard's undead horse, but their devs as of late act like they are being held at gunpoint to speak on camera.
@@fredwin They probably are... Most Diablo 4 interviews feel like they are entirely "predesigned" with corporate intentions in mind. I've never seen a single one of them, wehre it just felt like a group of devs nerding out over their own game. Obviously I don't have any inside information, but it very much feels like they are limited in what they can and can't say by their great corporate overlords.
@@FzNd Maybe there are actually passionate people working on D4, it's just that they have to work according to some preset guidelines about how the game should play for this and that type of player, unlike PoE devs who probably have a few times more freedom in designing systems, because GGG values player experience, creativity and innovation over catering to masses like Diablo 4. Let's be real, i'm pretty sure if given enough freedom, the D4 dev team would be able to design a skill tree twice as big, introduce stuff like runewords or any actual crafting system, make more hard and interesting endgame content etc. But even if you see that video a former D3 dev did about D4's design and why it is the way it is, he's talking about how they could make D3 more complex and deep, but Blizzard prefered to make it as accessible for the casual wide audience as possible, focusing a lot on the console andies.
D4 was a project they've pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into or god knows how much, and they wanted to make a game everyone will be able to play (and buy), and the majority of players are not nerds who play for thousands of hours and tinker builds in their mancaves like for example PoE players, it's your average teenager who's playing after school, or a dad after work between changing diapers and walking a dog. And they all love D4 for what it is. It's about time people stop talking about D4 as if it was a game in the same universe PoE is in, when their target audiences are literally on the opposite sides of the spectrum.

Glad he did too, couldn't see nothing. Lol
I noticed he did that multiple times.
Finally I can make an actual fucking shotgun build. I’m so hype. I’m also very happy that GGG has the philosophy of “high skill builds should perform better than low skill builds.”
Can't just walk around as a mobile Tesla tower lol. I certainly don't mind, I'll probably just go a basic melee build and worry about getting smacked
I'm so excited for it, everything around POE like systems, lore, cosmetics, end game content, season mechanics etc. is top notch just the combat was the weakest link (even still it was enjoyable). So with POE 2 solving that I'm so excited.
Yeah, I've always loved that kind of philosophy. Like the best DPS should come from blasting your keyboard in my opinion. No shame in doing one-button builds, but don't expect to delete pinnacle bosses in the same way.

@@chimeraelite I feel like it's going to be the opposite right? That's what I imagine at least.
@@In_Space i hope not. hope they scale the game properly such that the game doesn't become another auto-play with different sfx
Every video I watch with Johnathan Rogers, my God. His excitement and enthusiasm is palpable. What a god-tier example of what dev's should aspire too.
You mean ignore playerbase and make game for his own "vision"?
Lol.
You know that only 2% of poe1 players choose ruthless mode and yet they make ruthless as core of poe2 instead of clear speed and powerful characters.
@@marisbury Why yes, I do. The entire point of creating a meaningful work, is not to bow to the whims of others.
This is literally how all great works of art and media have been created. Having a vision and making it happen.
Indiscriminately bowing to the whims of the masses, for reasons like fear of repercussions is exactly how 'Design by committee', and the mass amount of absolute garbage and slop has infested all of our media and gaming organizations and devalued it all into utter mediocrity, at best.
Not every piece of media and/or art has to be for every person. What makes something good, is having a vision, and pursuing that vision with intention and passion. Exactly what he is doing, and this is exactly how quality product is made. *_Not by bowing to the insatiable and never satisfied cries of the emotionally and psychologically immature and insecure, which it seems is the group that you want to adhere to._*
@marisbury You can allways go play Ubisoft games, seems like you enjoy then a lot.
This looks so good! I love the sunlight coming from the sky window at 3:25. You can't see the sky window, of course, but the detail to have that implied and depicted is just a trademark of genuine care for the quality of your product. Way to go, GGG!
I love how passionate and excited Jonathan is about the game, it really shows that he enjoys the game that he's making.
jonathan: hey ziz check out our dope new combos!
ziz: haha right click go brr
God the combos are so cool, put flame lines down and smash ontop of them to keep triggering lava coming up. So simple, so good.
Love how he talked about rewarding using multiple skills, and one/no button builds having to sacrifice some stats or damage to be nice and easy to play though.
Jonathan is such a genuine guy, you can literally feel his passion at everything that he does.
It’s hard watching this, blues balls is an understatement
I feel your pain 😅
This will be the game dudes. Jonathan always gives me the feeling he's as excited about the game as players are, if not even more. That's S+ dev team stuff and GGG is one of the best ones.
Why does Zizaran looks like gamer version of Ryan Gosling?
Because he's a human bean
💀
Ryan Gosling from Temu
I thought so too
ryan gosling from mid class
Maybe this is an overreaction from me, but when I heard him asking about "but you have to use more than one skill, but what about disabled folks" I got kind of annoyed. It's probably because I always try and live my life in a way where I just consider myself a normal guy and don't want shit changing for everyone else, just because I'm in a wheelchair with spazhands. There's nothing wrong with being curious about a games' accessabiity option but this felt like it was presented in a way that they should actually have to consider making the game have more elements because it might be hard for someone with hand issues. I'm disabled, I can't play all games that I want to (I would love to play racing games with a full set up but it just isn't happening), but at no point would I ever want a game to be neutered or scaled down just so I'm able to play it. Make the game you want to make and if I can play it, and I like it, then awesome! But if not, if my disability gets in the way, that is a shame, but it doesn't mean my niche needs should warrant the game having to change. I genuinely think it's a pretty selfish perspective to, for example, have the view of "I'm disabled and every game has to be playable for me", instead of realising the vast majority of people don't require any of the things I may need.
Gotta love seeing Jonathan and Mark talk about the games. They're just so excited to talk about it. Such a refreshing thing to see happen in a world where everything is become exceedingly corporate all the time. Not 12 layers of marketing and PR teams making statements on behalf of devs, but two dudes actually making this thing just chatting about it without being afraid of being wrong sometimes.
Jonathan: speaks to the exponential increase in power for using more than a one button build
Ziz: proceeds to one button the entire demo
Proud smiling gives me real hype
Yeah, you just know his bursting with things he wants to share, all the cool new stuff, but he has to wait a bit longer 😅
the amount of passion and joy for being able to show off their work is amazing. can't wait to play this
9:44 The warrior is a gamer confirmed
I love his enthusiasm, so much love for the game that it sometimes feels overwhelming when he's explaining the mechanics
I love Jonathan's repsponses to complaints. He either has a good reason for it or in the past has made sure to make a change to the problem.
GGG are literally the best. seeing the amount of time Jonathan and other devs sacrifice to provide high quality interviews like this and having actual non scripted conversations and exchange of ideas is so refreshing to see.
They are the one and only gaming studio that have managed to make me enjoy spending money on them because I 100% want them to succeed even further and I want to support them further. Cannot wait for poe2.
It's called advertising, and they are owned by TENCENT.
Now that there is an access date I'm getting pretty hyped for PoE 2.
Will be a Campaign enjoyer trying every class before starting endgame.
12:27 This is the right answer. Things don't need to be equally balanced all the time. In fact, there's a big difference between balance, which revolves around situational advantages and disadvantages, and trying to make all experiences equal. If everything is just a reskinned version of something else, it doesn't take long for gameplay as a whole to feel homogenous and boring.
This is why people feel d2 was great. It wasn't perfectly smooth balance. There were sections that spiked in difficulty and certain monsters/areas that were better or worse with different characters.
full party in the maggot's lair was... Always an adventure.
Glad to hear that they aren't shying away from these more interesting sections just because one class would have an advantage over another.

i wonder how that will work, will the markets be completely separate? Do both games receive a league at the same time?

@@Notkikcthey said in many interviews that the MTX market will be shared where for the most lart, except when it doesn’t make sense, like druid skill skins won’t work in poe1 because there is no druid,
Regarding league starts, they are planning to go for 3 month leagues, where poe2 will start 2 weeks after poe1 since “there will be a lot more to do in poe2” as Jonathan said, but yeah in general staggered releases of leagues between both games so you always have a ggg game to play.
@@rickspartan I'm just glad they're going to keep updating PoE 1 and aren't pulling an Overwatch 2/Counter Strike 2. Poe2 can be played with a controller and disabled players have access to controllers/joysticks specifically for 1 hand: 1 stick+ MORE THAN ONE button on it so they are covered in regards to playing NON RIGHTEOUS FIRE BUILDS.
They can alwaya just chew on the controller and make weird noises

This really is a completely different game than PoE 1. At first I was skeptical about that, but I am very excited to try it. Especially since they say they will be developing them simultaneously. Best of both worlds.
I think the enthusiasm for their game is genuine. Actual gamers/nerds making fun games. You can tell they operate completely differently than AAA companies, and it really shows in the success of their product after all these years. PoE 2 likely to be equally successful I think.
The question about 1-0 button playstyle for disabled people was really wierd. As if a game has a moral obligation to change a core design pillar to accomodate disabled people. Of course devs should address those issues but this questions comes across like "I want to keep playing one button builds". Its pretty clear when you are playing that you have big problems using more than one skill.

Dammit who interrupted these fine gentlemen and cut the video short. Cant wait for the release!
Will POE2 have a decent death recap screen. This is by far the biggest QOL improvement this game really needs. Its unacceptable that the game does not provide you with any information about what killed you.
This is really important I think. E.g. in PoE sometimes I'm in a map, and killing everything while face tanking everything, then all of a sudden I get deleted. I never know what happened.
Agreed
His excitement about poe2 kept him tougne tide. Loved it and I can’t wait for this game.
God, the synergy of the skills and the fact you HAVE to play tactically is so awesome to me. I love PoE1, but straight breezing through almost the whole game until late challenging end game content is starting to get a little repetitive. So much so that I've begun crafting my own mid builds to see how far I can take them just for the challenge. I'm fully aware this is because I have thousands of hours in the game and know all the meta builds, all the tricks, etc
Feels like that challenge is going to be inherent in PoE2 from the jump. Some people are going to HATE that, but personally, I'm looking forward to it.
"straight breezing through almost the whole game "
YES.
there is zero challenge when following an OP build. what's the point?
it gets old when you destroy 1000 monsters by act 6, and then it continues in maps also.
Straight breezing through the game? So you play HCSSF then right? For the challenge….?
It's cool but the novelty of it will wear off, it always does.
@@antiwhatever5391 HCSSF won't magically make it so that the game has actual combat mechanics. I don't think people understand this, PoE1 has NO COMBAT, there is no back and forth interplay between player actions and enemies, you usually kill enemies immediately before they even get to DO anything, that by definition is not a combat system, without interplay and action/reaction there is no combat.
What's more, the times PoE1 DOES feature combat mechanics, it's ALWAYS in the form of boss mechanics, often with the abuse of immunity phases, because making it so that you can't burn down the boss in a few seconds is the ONLY way to get players to engage in combat mechanics like dodging stuff. And guess what, the playerbase hates immunity phases.
Like you guys have no idea, GGG is ten steps ahead of all you, they're cooking peak arpg right now.
@@antiwhatever5391THIS man.
I don’t understand complaining when a game is too easy for you. There’s always ways to challenge yourself and make it more difficult. When the game is inherently challenging, there aren’t always ways to make it easier. It’s the weird achievement-seekers mindset. “If I do it on my own, no one can see it and I don’t have the bragging rights or sense of accomplishment,” is something I’ve heard.
In POE, nothing is stopping you from trying to “beat” the game (or achieve whatever) with some low rated forgotten skill. Make a meme build. Try to beat the campaign naked or something. There are a million and one ways to make ANY game more challenging.
i love his take on phasing with dodge roll, it should be punishing if you get stuck amongst monsters. i love the pace change from POE1 to 2, this is looking so much better to me personally
its a free game btw
I wonder if they're gonna be able to maintain this level of tactical/combo-oriented gameplay well into the end game or if they're just replacing poe's "zoom" with "boom" on poe 2, where high investment builds will insta delete bosses by setting up ~five skill combos... I guess at least visually that will look better and boss design can mitigate its effects to some extent.
Wait a min, everything is naturally 6L or did i not see it right?
correct.
Afaik the sockets are always linked, but that doesn't mean that you'll have 6 sockets from the start. As in you can drop a 2 socket skill gem and then use currency items to adds sockets, and from what i remember those items to add sockets were far more )or even entirely) deterministic, so it should overall be a lot simpler to get 6 socket gems.
Jonathan seems so happy to show his game to Zizz. :D I love it!
wasd might be great but you can literally see the 8directional movement everytime i see gameplay. compared to controller and mouse which is omnidirectional this creates some really bad scenarios when it comes to round "corners" like the bigger sirus maze. id even argue its nearly impossible to do the uber maze in time with wasd (because you end up walking in mini zigzags).
i hope they keep this in mind while creating poe2 bosses
Yeah, it is literally impossible to have more than 8 directions with a keyboard and in a game that requires moment to moment precision that's just a no go.
@@Deaudie It's not impossible. Hall effect keyboards have dynamic inputs and are getting very popular. Wooting, razer, etc
Dodgeroll
Also click to move sucks, when you are using wasd you are moving as long as you are holding the button, to stop all you have to do is to let go off the button. with click to move you have to reposition the mouse and click again to make your character stop. died so many times on sirus because i walked into the off screen cloud and didnt click off fast enough. And the fucking wildwood in tight maps, so many times i entered there unintentionally. Can't wait for wasd,
@@404404Hunter thats why u keep left mouse button clicked down and ur char follows ur mouse permanently
dodge roll with wasd has the same 8directional problem, while controller and mouse dodgeroll will be omnidirectional
Man, you can see real passion right there. I just can't wait for this game to be released but even if they need to take more time, I don't mind waiting, after all we will probably play poe2 for next 10 years.
I really like the visuals for the poison. Helps alot
Chris Wilson crawled over legos…so Johnathan could sprint over coals 🫡😊
So I've been wondering why PoE1 struggles to hold my attention past the start of the league and I think this interview and the general philosophy behind PoE2 plays into the reason why: building a character in PoE1 means making them less and less interactive.
It feels like in PoE1 the later you get into endgame the more absurd enemies get in ways that are non-interactable. And so to make a good character you need to combat that by making your character auto-counter enemies in ways that don't require interactions.
I’m excited for poe2 bc I can jump into the game as a new player without feeling years and years behind like I do in poe 1 which I just started playing. It’ll be cool to be a new player w everyone else
im so friggin excited for POE2
still, i am somewhat sad because i suspect it will be hard to go back to POE1 after getting used to 2. and this POE1 league is the greatest ARPG experience ive ever had and i want to play melee many more leagues in POE1
first world problems i suppose
Ziz with the map overlay ... was funny watching Jonathan turn it off at 12:00.
This game looks way cooler than path 1 to me. I dislike 1 button arpgs, this feels like a natural evolution of the genre.
How would you know.
@@JVL1988 I said of the genre. Path 1 isn't the entire genre.
2. It looks way better than path 1. You actually use other buttons and don't just teleport around the screen blowing everything up instantly. They're steering away from that design for a reason!
That design made their game the success it has.
People are projecting their Souls Like feeling into PoE.
Yet most people want to progress their character to a point where it becomes a literal God.
Games are for fun and relaxing. All these "I want a challenge, slow it down" are just kids who are in college or school, that have no challenge in real life. And want a time filler.
@@korcidiamond3623 I'm 35. I don't like 1 button games. They don't interest me. Path 2 appeals to me. You didn't need to belittle others for having a different preference, it's okay to like different things. That's exactly why they aren't cancelling path 1, because they may not have the same exact audience.
This is game is going to be absolutely insane. thanks GGG and all of their devs for putting so much effort and passion in their work.
sad to see how long he didnt play poe1 to not even know that mark skills display an icon on you. he is founder and became multi millionaire off this game and he didnt bother to log in years. 😞
He's building the future of the company so why would he.
@@jonpro9637 Its going to be a failure. Sorry but they are trying to be fromsoft without the ability to create gameplay that = fromsoft.
@@jonpro9637 why would he play the game and understand his own playerbase? Really?
No wonder it's such slow snoozefest that will be forgotten quite fast unless they introduce power creep really fast and get it to poe1 standards.
huh? Weakness icons were introduced in settlers
Been a while since I've seen a dev genuinely excited to show their game.

Jonathan Rogers is living is childhood dream after so many hours playing Diablo 2, and brainstorming with Chris Wilson when they were kids. Amazing to see how dreams can become reality with dedication and belief.
The amount of butthurt in some of these comments is funny. It looks like the split in the community is real and those of us that will enthusiastically will play POE2 will have to deal with sour ass comments from haters that will refuse to migrate from POE1 for years.
Jonathan is talking about making the game harder, while Ziz is worried about his future hardcore runs
Man I'm kind of bored of POE 2 clips.
They've been showing slowass campaign footage for 5 years, with all these little Souls-like combat tweaks and trying to hype it up. I'm annoyed they haven't shown 1 single second of endgame. I get they want to expand to a more modern audience and current gamers have a totally different expectation of aRPGs, but that shit is like 2% of the game and it's not gonna be how they make money. Gamers who aren't having fun are gonna quit since they haven't paid, and gamers who are are gonna get past the campaign to the endgame to decide if they want to support.
