Although I love the rotating bezel of the 4 classic the battery tradeoff on the 5Pro is well worth the trade off for me. I'm heavy user between notifications, workouts and GPS and my 4 classic would barely make it a day and that's with me sticking it on the charger for a quick charge during the day. With the 5Pro and same usage I charge every 3 days. With the watch 4 classic I charged 7days a week with the 5Pro I charge twice a week.
I loved my Watch4 Classic. It was a nice looking watch with the bezel and all that. But I upgraded to the Watch 5 Pro and I love it. I do miss the rotating bezel, but the battery life increase is worth it easily. I'm getting 2.5+ days depending on usage easily. I can wear it for sleep tracking two nights in a row without charging at all. I also love the new materials it's using - feel more like real traditional watch materials.
With my GW4 Classic, I'll hit the end of the day with only 15 to 20% left. And that's at only 1/2 brightness, no background metrics tracking during the day, but trackng a 1 & 1/2 hour workout every day. It sucks. I'm now getting sensor failure messages also. It's only 16 months old and it's hitting th end of its life. I'm looking at a GW5 Pro LTE, but they're $630 here in Canada.
I got the Pro for only £280 (trade in and student discount). Great screen, the sunken screen really helps with the virtual bezel. It feels like a big upgrade from my Garmin Vivoactive 2 but Samsung need to update the software to allow gpx files for running (only hiking and cycling at the moment). Very happy with my purchase so far but need to test it fully
I upgraded from the 44mm Watch 4 to the Watch 5. I walk, cycle and do stair stepping. So the regular 5 is fine for me. Got a good price with the Samsung trade in offer. Better battery life and more accurate heart rate and sleep tracking were the main reasons. There are tweaks to extend battery life. I get a full two days with moderate use and sleep tracking turned on.
Great review, Mike. I traded the GW4 (44mm) for the GW5P for the very reasons you presented in the video. I am keeping my GW4C for dressing up and church. Keep up the excellent work and be blessed.
Had the Watch 4 44mm, upgraded to the 5 Pro and its absolutely AMAZING!!! Battery last 3 days for me and i sleep with it all 3 nights! It's gorgeous and i highly recommend it!!
I tested Watch 5 PRO GPS VS Suunto 9 Peak during a 6 hr hike in the forest and the Watch 5 pro GPS performance is really disappointing. Many times the W5P reported off- route deviations though I'm right on track.

Honestly, I've had the watch 4 and the watch 5 and I don't they are worth the price. My watch 5 is lte which is convenient if I don't want to carry my phone around but other than that I guess I expected more out of it. Like, there's an app for outlook but not Gmail? I don't expect the capabilities of a full on phone but some other features would be nice.
You mentioned the ability to navigate win 3rd party apps, but Komoot and Google maps requires a connection to a phone to navigate. Does the 5 Pro let it use navigation without the phone?
One of the main reason i want the 5 pro, is the chipping because of the slightly raised side glass on my watch 4, in this case is the same as watch 5. But, i don't know for some reasons, samsung here didn't allowed trade in for my watch 4. Shame on you samsung
I like the pro, but sadly the rotating bezel is gone, so not worth it for me

nah if it is true sapphire glass, scratching can happen but not on the glass itself. I have Fenix 5 with Sapphire glass, and despite many unintended small hits and slides to the wall and even stone, there is not a tiniest scratch on the glass.
I'm really curious to see some scratch testing because he had seen many companies exaggerate the strength of their glass before. Apple has been lying about Sapphire for years and Samsung was pretty misleading with the claim that they're foldable screens were made out of glass ( it's clearly a hybrid of plastic and glass but it scratches exactly at the same level as plastic)

I got the 44mm 5 (first smartwatch - so nothing to compare it to!) - but it was difficult to choose between that, the 4 Classic and 5 Pro however something about that "flat" look of the 5 really appealed to me. Got a metal strap off Amazon to complete the look. I don't use it for fitness or sleep tracking so turning all those sensors off, AOD on, reading notifications and replying to messages I get an easy 2d / 48 hours...end of 3d / 72 hours I'm at like 15% which isn't ideal. But I think I'm OK with a charge every 2 days.
@@lakkadbagga The Bluetooth one. Personally - I'm never out without my phone (I use an armband for running with it) so I can do all the features like calls from my watch, replying to stuff from it etc that the LTE can do.

One nice thing is that the band of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is made of a stretchy rubber-like substance that can expand. This is important for me because my wrists change size a lot when I lift weights. My previous Galaxy Watch (1st gen) had a band that could not change size, so I had to constantly readjust the watch band during workouts until I bought a third party band from someone else. I resisted upgrading from the Galaxy Watch because of battery life. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is the first one to come close to the original Galaxy Watch in battery life, although mostly I upgraded because various firmware updates over the years ate into the meager storage space. I only had a few watch faces, and was using around 3GB out of 4GB. I had long ago uninstalled apps that I liked to free up space. PS-Although the battery life of the Watch 5 Pro is pretty close to the original Galaxy Watch, it's still less, and I can feel it as I use the watch.
From the looks of it , it seems that smartwatches no matter what brand it is just seems to not worth it anymore. Battery life, features, and so on just doesnt justify not even spending $280-$400 on a watch.
Hey for how much time you have had that watch 4?....and is the aluminium casing prone to damage very easily? coz we can take care of the screen by tempered glass without destroying the subtle looks of the watch like the watch cases , i like the looks of watch 4 more than watch 4 classic but it makes me wonder if 4 will wear off faster due to aluminium casing.....plz reply it will be really helpful
Samsung should make a regular model..a pro model.. and a classic model.. would make a nice thing to add a classic 5 for the rotating bezel So like..3 differnt model if possible to appeal to the classic rotating bezel users...casual user..and sports user Well that and the rotating bezel does look nice
I charge my Watch 5 pro 2 hours a week. Granted, connected only to the phone, but still...I use it fairly often with all sensors on and it's amazing how the battery still goes strong after almost a year.
Definitely going to get either the watch 5 or watch 5 pro, as I use the S22 Ultra as my phone. Was an iPhone 12 Pro user and series 6 watch, changed my provider for work and personal use. Thanks for the video, enjoyed it and I will decide but if anyone can help I’d be grateful. 🙏
It came down to size for me... I have smaller wrists and the 5 Pro and 44mm 5 (regular) are just too big to fit properly and I feel the band would always be loose. I went with the 40mm Watch 5, knowing it lacked a few features of the 5 Pro (I don't think I'll ever need) and has the smallest battery of them all. Hopefully my daily routine of charging my watch each morning for about 30-40 minutes as I shower and get ready for the day is more than plenty to keep it going until the next, even with heavy use. A few adjustments to save power by disabling unused features will also come in handy. For $160 with the current special and trade-in rebate, it was time to upgrade.
I upgraded from the 1 to the 5 lol. Also, your not missing ANY features other then the "track back" feature which as he say's there are apps you can already download that does this, and a larger battery. The biggest difference between the 2 is the look and if you've ever actually seen the 5 Pro with your own eye's the thing is a SLAB. I'm not even talking about the width...the thickness is insane lol. It looks like your wearing a damn tower on your wrist. So of course the battery life is as good as it is, your literally wearing the thickness of TWO watches lol. The base 5 just looks so much more sleek. And as for durability you can easily buy a watch case.
Agree 100%. After a week, no regrets with the 40mm. Love it. I did add a Spigen Liquid Air case... perfect fit with no noticeable increase to bulk. It also provides a slight lip to the edge (helps with circular finger swipes).
I went with the 44mm watch 5. The pro is just way too bulky and overkill for a daily watch. Battery life has been great, however I dont see why people take issue charging their watch every night as their phone is already on the charger. Samsung sent their dual wireless charger with the watch for free as a pre order bonus, so I just toss my watch and phone on it every night. However I also just ordered the new Amazfit GTR 4 to compare it to, and from my experience with the GTR 3 Pro the Amazfit kills it for the price and I like the looks more. As far as the Watch 5 goes, throw a Ringke sport case on it with their metal bezel and you have a perfect smartwatch. I got the set for 14 bucks and a set of 39.5mm glass screen protectors from aliexpress for 3 dollars shipped. They fit perfectly inside the metal ring and the watch is bulletproof.
I'm not rich but I don't get what all the fuss is about. $170 is literally three dinners out. Three dinners that you poop out 12 hours after you eat it. Get a grip. Think of what you would spend $170 on that truly is not worth it that's here today gone tomorrow.
People often forget that you can charge your watch with your phone too. You just need to bring them close together and the watch will suck some battery from the phone (which can be charged quickly with a universal charger unlike the watch)
You getting everything with the basic five watch except for everything that matters you know the durability the battery life you don't need something durable that sits on your wrist every day especially if you're a man with a man's career
Am definitely getting the watch 5 pro ... I know I will miss the bezel but I need the longer battery life ...hope they will bring up the bezel on the 6th generation of the watch
I have a Watch 3 classic and didn't see a need to upgrade to the 4 even though it ran Wear OS. Samsung has a promo where you can trade in a smartwatch in any condition (physically. still needs to turn on and function). I couldn't pass it up, as I still had the Gear Sport sitting in my closet. Ended up getting $75 credit towards the GW5. I like having Wear OS with all the Google apps vs. Tizen. I do miss the rotating bezel. I'm happy with the watch so far.
Hi Mike. I haven't heard much on the OS used on the regular Watch5 and I was wondering if it a good option for someone who doesn't necessarily want to stick to the Samsung ecosystem (namely, Bixby...) but would rather have a Google-center experience (more specifically, Google Assistant, Google Wallet, and YT Music). Please, could you elaborate on that in a future video? Thanks and cheers!

Can you compare Galaxy watch Pro 5 versus Michael Kors Gen 6? I have the Galaxy 3 watch still and I like it very much. But I'd like to get matching watches for myself and my husband. I like the aesthetic of the Michael kors they don't sell just the band.
I think they dont need to mention about the water resistant because before this my old galaxy watch active 2 got damage by water and also make me feel angry bc cannot claim warranty😔 so pissed off😫 then i think galaxy watch 4 or 5 etc i'm will never ever soak in water again or use when swimming😆😡🤦♂️✌🏼❤️ PS: idk man different people maybe they had different usages🤷♂️
Thanks, very informative video, I came here after comparing them on Samsung website to figure out better if there was any other differences than the battery. I will probably go with the Watch 5 44mm 👍
With T-mobile you can get a 40mm for $99 44mm for $149 & 2 45mm for $499...im stuck between the 44mm & 45mm...currently still rocking the Galaxy Active 2
I was on watch active 2 40mm and upgraded to the 44mm watch 5. No regrets. I have small/medium wrists so the 40mm watch active 2 looked better on my wrist when I compared to the 44mm watch active 2 in store when I tried them on. But the watch 5 has a better design and not as chunky. Slimmer body and just works better on your wrist with the whole sensorhousing not protruding as much as on the watch active 2. So when I tried on the 40mm watch 5 in store it looked very small on my wrist. But the 44mm looked perfect and fit very well. I'm very happy with my choice of the larger watch. I suggest you go into the store and try on both watch sizes and go from there.
We noticed the paint is already scuffed off the top of the Watch 5 you are wearing, and it seems you haven't worn it very long. Could you please address that? You mention it, but how easily did it happen?
Hi Mike, great video as always. Very thorough. I currently have the Watch 3 and I am looking for an upgrade. I also have the Pixel 6 Pro and was wanting your opinion if I should wait for the Pixel Watch or get the Watch 5 Pro?

As someone who knows about watches, I can confidently say that the pro definitely is too big for your wrist. Typically if the lugs of a watch sit in such a way that there is a big gap of air in between them and the skin it is a clear sign.
I really need the Pro due to my outdoor activities but I have such tiny wrists. I wish Samsung made a smaller version for us females with really thin wrists
What I really want to know is if there's a difference in confort while sleeping between the 40mm, the 44mm and the 45mm pro (which looks thicker). Anyone who can comment?
I hade decided to get a smartwatch and cant decide witch one so do you have a recomendation? Im looking for a watch that can work for a day to day basis with my OP8 pro. Im not superactive but have a horse so it has to work when im out riding and the battery has to last atleast a day without having to worry. I think im gonna go for either 5 or 5 pro just cuz of the battery but still dont have a clue.

@@csimet what about battery?
Wait you can get a case with a metal bezel? Does it rotate or you use as touchscreen? Or is it not functional
the issue with charging overnight is some people want the sleep tracking function. one main thing im looking for
I track my sleep using it . Thus it's very helpful
I found the Watch 5 Bluetooth 44mm for 184$ US, is it worth it?? I've never had a "smartwatch", just an Amazfit band 5 that died last week :(
I'm not rich but I don't get what all the fuss is about. $170 is literally three dinners out. Three dinners that you poop out 12 hours after you eat it. Get a grip. Think of what you would spend $170 on that truly is not worth it that's here today gone tomorrow.
People often forget that you can charge your watch with your phone too. You just need to bring them close together and the watch will suck some battery from the phone (which can be charged quickly with a universal charger unlike the watch)
i didnt know this
So, you don't need the watch 5 pro but you're definitely going to be rocking the watch 5 pro lol.
You getting everything with the basic five watch except for everything that matters you know the durability the battery life you don't need something durable that sits on your wrist every day especially if you're a man with a man's career
Ok
Managed to get the watch 5 pro with a solid student discount for 2500 sek which is 225 usd. Can't complain for that price! Great review Mike! 👏
I wish the Huwaei Watch GT 3 Pro could use Wear OS.......now THAT'S a beautiful smartwatch, with killer battery life to boot.
Garbage watch, garbage battery, minimal if any improvements, gtfo 🤮
Just get a cheap case fuck sakes.
I have small wrist, I demand all companies who produce smartwatch to provide less 40mm diameter. Please!
Am definitely getting the watch 5 pro ... I know I will miss the bezel but I need the longer battery life ...hope they will bring up the bezel on the 6th generation of the watch
I got mines new out the box's for only $150 so I can care less lol 😂5 pro treated me very good
When in my Country is Watch 5 only 50 dollar cheaper than 5 pro, whats the better choice?
I love how Samsung continues to take a big steamy dump on people with small wrists lmao
Doesn't the digital bezel version react to water?
I have the watch 3 and seeing that deal. I’m debating should I upgrade to the 5 pro or 5 since it’s enhanced trade in.
Ok as long as the Classic is an ongoing model, I'll stick to it.
Imagine getting sent free stuff, just talking about the product In a video
Tx youtube for this other bullshit comercial movie
I bought the watch5 pro and after 2 days i already cone send it back 😵😵 what a waste of money its such a bullshit thing to have if u have your phone on you !!! Its useless if you dont want to check your sportife live other than that ????
Big mistake with Samsung watch active 2 , simply outdated before Updated! Bought in 2019 still unable to measure spo2 as in NOT enabled in 3 years, still unable to use NFC payments in Ireland EU coz Samsung failed! Never ever Samsung again!
Saw a review that the sensors on the new watches are more reliable because the fit to the wrist has changed.
Can you compare Galaxy watch Pro 5 versus Michael Kors Gen 6? I have the Galaxy 3 watch still and I like it very much. But I'd like to get matching watches for myself and my husband. I like the aesthetic of the Michael kors they don't sell just the band.
Portland, JAMAICA in the Building !!
the pro model has an exotic titanium case vs aluminum on the non pro. That alone costs more
I think they dont need to mention about the water resistant because before this my old galaxy watch active 2 got damage by water and also make me feel angry bc cannot claim warranty😔 so pissed off😫 then i think galaxy watch 4 or 5 etc i'm will never ever soak in water again or use when swimming😆😡🤦♂️✌🏼❤️ PS: idk man different people maybe they had different usages🤷♂️
What watch you end up getting,?
I'm currently stuck between both options also...
We noticed the paint is already scuffed off the top of the Watch 5 you are wearing, and it seems you haven't worn it very long. Could you please address that? You mention it, but how easily did it happen?
Your cracked display makes this video so tough to watch
they need to make 40mm or 42mm of watch5 pro. How about us that have small wrist but want that 590 mah batery life. 🥺🥺🥺
Hi Mike, great video as always. Very thorough. I currently have the Watch 3 and I am looking for an upgrade. I also have the Pixel 6 Pro and was wanting your opinion if I should wait for the Pixel Watch or get the Watch 5 Pro?
I bought the 44mm watch 5 for a gift for my dad's birthday knowing him he doesn't go hiking or camping outside so watch 5 pro is out of context here
N9body is Monitoring their Health. Very Few People Actually do. This Country Has NON ATHLETES AND NOT 8N SHAPE PEOPLE WHO CARE LESS ABOUT THEIR HEALTH. So why are these stupid Watches Medical Devices. They should be Focused on other Awesome watche technology
Nice video explaining the difference. But aren't they coming out with the 6 by the end of July 26 /2023
As someone who knows about watches, I can confidently say that the pro definitely is too big for your wrist. Typically if the lugs of a watch sit in such a way that there is a big gap of air in between them and the skin it is a clear sign.
Pretty soon phones will be obsolete at watchs will be a thing again.
Girlfriend and I are getting the watch 5 very nice watches 😊
