great watching your videos Gem i am hooked on your channel ( pardon the pun) learning so much been fishing along the south coast mainly worthing shoreham and along to seaford on and off for years but still learning tight lines.
Enjoyable video, Gem. Shoreham plagued by doggies last week, must have had 30 over 2 sessions. Also surprised by a couple of smoothound pups , spring is around the corner 🤞🌞
Eazy gem you ok, nice one for another vid. Well done on your session. I bin out twice this week n both sessions I saved the blank with a flounder. I up early morning as got a leave at 1.30am for 2moz morning on the humber. All the best from GRIMSBY
Thanks Brian. Did you manage to get the elusive dab? But yeah it’s been fishing really well lately, lots of species and loads of double shots. Good fun!
Move the lead, give the reel a few turns looking for the fish, you said. I'm 63 years old, I've been fishing since I was 6, I say; If necessary, even if it is not, use a lighter sinker than necessary to have a firm grip, heavy enough to ensure that the line does not come to shore with the tide but allows the sinker itself to go in search of the fish, allows some movement , which will get the sinker into a hole that is exactly where the fish go looking for food.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I agree, each style of lead has its place. I enjoy experimenting when I am fishing. One plaice season a couple of years ago, I fished two rods (same rigs, casting same distance, same bait etc), one with a grip lead and the other a plain rolling lead. More bites on the plain lead but more hook ups on the grip lead. Same result over multiple sessions. Of course sometimes a rolling lead will out-fish the grip lead, so it’s always good to try different techniques to see what works on the day. I see the hybrid lead as a good option when you want the lead to provided grip-lead-like resistance to support hook-ups, but still have the ability to search out the fish yourself. I hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for your comment!
Great video, enjoyed that. Up here in the North East the modest Dab generally gets ignored. However, I personally love fishing for these little monkies. I must pay a visit to the southern beaches. Thank for sharing Gem 👍
Thanks for your lovely comment. I love heading out on a flattie session and it’s been a good year for dabs down here. Sadly not for me on this trip, but I was out trying, in the fresh air and having fun. Catching those dabs would have been a bonus.
Thanks -pleased to hear you liked the video. I’ve had good results on both flood and ebb. But for schoolies always best just after low up to when the water hits the shingle, provided there is a decent bit of surf running. Always had best results on fresh outs when chasing the schoolies.
Good question! I honestly can’t recall the breaking strain; I was using Trabucco tapered line. To me, the diameter of the line is more important as it impacts casting distance and resistance in the tide. Thinner line means less tide drag on the line and potentially better bite indication. I wouldn’t use line that thin on my multipliers though, I go for 0.35 which is usually 15lb.
Beautifully filmed , the balance of sunrise and floodlight doesn’t get much in the first half… fishing don’t need to mention as always top drawer
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the lovely feedback.
If I ever return to sea fishing I’d like to go with you! Your enthusiasm is encouraging. You are a real ’Gem’ 😊 Thank you and tight lines. 😊👍
Wow, thank you! I do love my fishing so pleased to hear that comes across 😊
Thanks for the video - LC
You’re welcome.
Nice one Gem
Thanks Mark :)
Just the one dab which came on the last cast. During the day there were plaice, whiting, dogs, flounder, rockling, pout and a solitary dab to finish
Very nice! Pleased there are plenty of fish around right now.
Cracking video Gem. Shame about the lack of Dabs😬. Look forward to the next video. Take care x
Next time maybe for those dabs! Great to hear you enjoyed the video, your feedback is very appreciated.
Lovely video Gem, happy dabbing next time 🙏🎣🐟
Thank you 😁
Good video 😊
Thanks Stephen 😁
Well done Gem lovely video and well edited too!!! Cheers Ian 👍🎣
Glad you enjoyed it Ian and thanks for the great feedback. The editing did take ages as I am still learning, and still plenty more to learn too.

Thank you Rob! The dogs are everywhere! I’m hoping they don’t follow me to Norway next month…🤪🐶🤪
Cracking video gem very well presented 👍
Thanks! Your comment means a lot. 😊
Awesome video gem shame the dabs didn't want to play 🎣👍
Yeah there were just too many dogs out there for the dabs to be in with a chance! Thanks for the lovely feedback.
Great video Gem, fantastic watch as always ❤
Thank you Wayne :). Glad you enjoyed it.

Great and enjoyable video Gem!...looking forward to many more.
Many thanks - so pleased to hear you enjoyed this one :)
Nice video Gem. I was a bit further along last Saturday where we had several species and were catching all day long. Good area at the moment
Thanks Brian. Did you manage to get the elusive dab? But yeah it’s been fishing really well lately, lots of species and loads of double shots. Good fun!
Good video gem , the hybrid leads look good :-)
Thanks Steve. Yeah, the leads certainly have their place in my tackle box.

Great video Gem, do you think Pevensey fishes better on flood or ebb ?I've only fished it on the flood with mixed results . 👍

Why .23 line why no lbs
