The main function of motor oil is to reduce wear on moving parts; it also cleans moving parts from the sludge, inhibits corrosion, improves sealing, and cools the engine by carrying heat away from moving parts.
Motor oils are derived from petroleum-based and non-petroleum-synthesized chemical compounds. Motor oils today are mainly blended by using base oils composed of hydrocarbons, polyalphaolefins (PAO), and polyinternal olefins (PIO), organic compounds consisting entirely of carbon and hydrogen. The base oils of some high-performance motor oils contain up to 20% by weight of esters.

Normally an easy job on my old Vectra, but on the Corsa the sump plug refused to budge and the socket just ground out the teeth. Presumably made of some cheap alloy. Gonna need to go into Vauxhall and get a new sump plug as well now.

T45 for sump plug and I think 24mm for oil filter

Castrol edge 0-w30 fully synthetic, 4l as engine takes 4l.
@@karoln7078 I use mobil 1 EPS 5w30, I think it's better than castrol
I use fully synthetic 5w-30 Castrol Edge as it's perfect for Irish/UK climate
I advise you to read the instructions manual

after you remove the filter cap , i see in oil inside , on my corsa 2009 the oil back to the oil carter fast < is anything to worry about ?
Maybe was the oil hotter on your try so it dips faster back to the tank.
How about changing the gearbox oil? manual
