Your little books are so lovely! I love how they’re self contained with their own little story. It’s amazing how both yours and Kriksis’ sketches joined up so perfectly!
That was nice to see the sea snail hitch-hiker as it reminded me of my sea snail hitch-hiker I found on my back door this morning (asking to be let out after a night in my kitchen)😁
Hi Mel, I loved this little sketchbook tour and seeing you together with Kriksis:). Thanks for sharing. The snail shells in Cornwall have such different beautiful colours than here in Germany. I loved that you filmed this at the end. Have a lovely Sunday:) Sea snail
What beautiful little sketch books, thanks for sharing. They would be a great way to capture sketches on a short holiday - less intimidating than a whole sketchbook!
Aloha Mel, I am newish to your channel. I just wanted to hop on here and tell you how much I love your type of art and how much you inspire me! I have now started doing more landscapes because of you! I live in a beautiful place, so after 50 years, I should be taking advantage of the beauty! Thank you for sharing!🌺🌈🌴🙋♀️
Wonderful and inspiring video! I just joined your Substack as a paid subscriber and I can’t wait for your process video on making the sketchbooks. I loved seeing how you and Kriksis painted the scene in tandem without even knowing it. What a lovely synergy between the two of you! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work with us. Lots of love from Oregon!
Mel, I just took at look at your Illustration link in the description. I had no idea your style was so diverse! I love the clean bright style of the maps, the folk-art style paintings, the books, etc. I would love to see you include these types of paintings and styles in your videos.
Oh thank you! I generally try to keep my client work separate from personal work, as I can't share all of it, so tend to just stick with sharing what I'm doing as it makes it simpler, although I do love working across different mediums and styles!
Beautiful work, those four page sketches are wonderful! Do you seal the pages on site to prevent the pastels transferring from page to page? If so, what do you use?
Everything about all of this is awesome! Question about the paper you used, is it kraft paper from a roll to get a long enough piece for the sketchbook? I tried searching for "sugar paper" but was unsuccessful. These would be so incredibly perfect for plein air!

It was so fun to see!
The limited palette neocolour looks like Lino cut print, really characterful
Thanks so much- really fun to work in this way!

Thankyou! I don't use anything on the pages to fix them, they seem to be ok!
snails! :)
Snail! Thank you!

Thanks - check the description for the sugar paper 🤗💛
@MelanieChadwick I discovered it's not available in the USA 😪 that's why I couldn't find it on Amazon lol!.
I think kraft paper would work just as well or any tonal paper 😊
Какие красивые скетчбуки❤ а что это мелки такие?
caran dach neocolor 2
Popped the link to them in description 😊
