I’ve heard Ford say a few times that people don’t use their frunks much. Frankly, I’d use my frunk a lot more if it was more convenient to get into. To open the trunk, there’s a button on the fob and another on the trunk itself. To get into the frunk requires opening the door and pulling on the release twice or pulling out the phone and using the app. It’s faster just to walk around to the back and hit the button.
100%. I didn't use it much until I programmed an F150 Lightning key to my Mach-E so there's a frunk button on the fob and now I use it ALL the time since I can open it from the fob. I ding Ford for this excuse, they're using the data ina flawed way. It's like saying "Data shows very few Americans drive imported pickup trucks so there's no demand for that". There's a reason behind the data, just take 5 minutes to think about it, guys.
@@AdamJakowenkoAgreed. The other thing that really ground my gears in this interview was the amount of navel gazing they apparently did over the door badging. Seriously, does anyone outside of Ford care that much about it? Is there anyone who’s contemplated buying a Mach-E who said, “Nah. The door badging is too confusing.” No. Seriously, I’d say either make it say just “Mach-E” or even better, eliminate it altogether and save a couple of bucks on every Mach-E made… Problem solved.
I use my frunk for two things: 1. to stow my computer bag when I travel. It feels more secure than the cabin or rear hatch. 2. To bring home takeout food. To keep smells out of the cabin.
First, Tom Somerville was fantastic! Clear of thought and presentation, and VERY knowledgeable and informative. Thanks for having him on. And, as usual, Patrick’s detailed knowledge of all things Mach-E was impressive. I very much appreciated the show!
Glad to see the heat pump included for 2025. I could get used to the stock shifter pretty quickly and like the extra space in the center area now available
Ford should include a frunk-capable keyfob with a random sample of Mach-Es, and see how frunk use changes. Since replacing mine with a Lightning fob, I use the frunk for literally everything that will fit in there.
Thanks so much for this video. Just purchased a 2024 GT in Grabber Blue. Love the 2025 but this video made be happy that I got the 2024 even more. (Color and bigger frunk) BC 1.5 sounds nice but not super necessary for me. Great to see the Mach-E pushing forward. We now have two in our garage.
I basically did the same thing as you (colour and all). The heat pump is great, but even for me (Canada) based on my driving habits it wont make the difference. In 3 years when I upgrade, I think it will be more necessary. I really think the complimentary charger and standard install is an amazing move from ford. That's a premium unit!
The heat pump is definitely going to be needed for here in Chicago. But don't move anywhere! I wanna move back to SoCal! I'm going to miss the dial because it added that small elegant to the EV sense of the mach-e. You guys are amazing! Thanks for putting this video out so fast!
10-40f that’s cute it’s -30c here tonight we need to know when we will be able to tell the car we want to precondition on our own and stop gate keeping it through the onboard nav
As a current Mach E owner, a couple things: -Ford really needs to make it easier to access the frunk. It's stupid that we need to do the double pull to access the frunk like we're opening the hood (we are lol). Make it like we're opening the trunk. -I actually like the rotary gear shifter. I'm not a fan of the column mounted shifter. Also the left stalk column is incredibly busy. There's like, what, 15 different functions now on the left stalk? Not a fan of that change.
Agree on both points. Opening and closing the frunk is pretty much on par with opening the hood on an '88 Chrysler - it's just a big loud event that isn't worth it in most cases.
My "over the top" wish list for the frunk is that it have its own opening in the hood. I think it'd look cool, and I think it would make it more convenient - opening and slamming the entire hood for the frunk seems clunky. A smaller access "door" would make sense to me. Love the review - keep up the good work!
After a test drive of the Premium AWD last night the suspension does bounce and roll over rough road and potholes... compared to my ice CX50 Mazda. This is the first place I heard they tuned the suspension to deal with that on the Premium. I will test drive the Rally and Gt before deciding but want the ventilated seats of the premium!!
A sunroof that opens, heated rear seats, and ambient lighting in the rear should be standard on this model. It also needs adaptive headlamps and static cornering.
I’m a master ford technician and I own a 2024 Mach e, I love it but seeing this new one I was really hoping they would refresh the interior a little bit. Would almost like to see the massive instrument cluster display that’s in the new gas mustangs be implemented into the Mach E somehow, just seems to make sense from a technological standpoint
I'm a bit confused about the complimentary, free-install, home charger unit. A large show display advertising the bonus next to the 2025 Mach-E, not available to purchase until early 2025, but all on-line information states the offer applies only to Ford e-vehicle purchases made before January 2, 2025. That seems to eliminate the free charger/ free install for purchases of the 2025 Mach-E. Am I missing something?
I’d call your dealer but my understanding is folks can pre-order 2025 model year cars now and qualify for this. However that power promise is mostly to incentivize selling 2024s to move them off dealer lots.

I'm in NY, so that heat pump is huge for me. I'm also glad I had the option of sports appearance on premium. Hearing about chassis retuning sounds promising.
The heat pump is a great addition. I have that on my early MY22 Audi Q4 and the range hit on the winter is far less than what it has on my friend's MY23 Mach-E.
Will the maintenance cost on the heat pump be worth the “fringe” advantage? Ioniq5 suggests changing the low conductivity coolant every 60,000km and costs $900! Tesla says its low conductivity coolant never needs changing for the life of the vehicle. I wonder what Ford will suggest…
Have the Mach E 2022 premium awd big battery. Its great in many ways, but it needs more efficient motors (especially at 100+ km/h), faster infosystem, tune of the heated seats (even at 1 it gets super hot), design changes so you can fit a bit bigger wheels (the original 19 looks so tiny for the mustang design), more sporty seats, way faster charging, better soundsystem (the b&o isn't great) abd fix the key in the app so the trunk doesn't open by it self.
I want to add this comment with regards to the shifter. Just put it in context, I have not been behind the wheel of the 2025. However, seeing the video, I am concerned with moving the shifter to the area of the current windshield wiper stalk location. Multiple time while I am parking or making big turns, I have accidentally hit the windshield wiper stalk. While hitting the windshield wiper stalk is just an annoyance, hitting the shifter stalk will probably be more problematic. Would love to hear your opinion.
Ford has the nicest people working for them. Good interview and peek at the 2025. "Does it have a heat pump?" FINALLY. Now about that charging speed? Listening is great, but let's see move of those requests get done. Camp modes, dog mode, the ability to run Pro power without turning on the vehicle. Backwards compatibility is important.
Man, you just hit the nail on the head on so many things! The charging speed is way too slow and takes twice as long as Hyundai/Kia. For a performance vehicle, the GT again falls flat vs Tesla and not even close to the Koreans. The software hurts a bit with some basic EV features that are missing. Where’s the kW gauge? It’s frustrating!
@@anthonyc8499 I really like the Ford team. I am rooting for them. Hoping they step up. They are delaying T3 to 2027. I don't know what they are going to do to keep interest in the EV products until they launch the next gen vehicles. I am more than a little worried for them.

I bought a 2024 Premium and was shocked to find out how expensive public charging was. It’s cheaper to drive my F150. Unfortunately Ford hasn’t done a very good job educating dealers about the free charger program. I’m still waiting to hear from the installer and I’m having to pay $50 to go 250 miles. That’s $15 more than it costs to go the same distance in my truck.

I love the old shots you did at the auto show 5 years ago. You already looked like pros! 👍 I sat in this exact blue Mustang later that day, but there was no one to give me a tour. I didn’t even realize it was the new 2025 model until I saw your video. Kind of dumb of me, I should have figured that out on my own. But then again, maybe Ford should have put up a big sign. 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for the video. One thing which still makes me resist buying a mach e is the lack of driver and passenger side auto dimming mirror. It’s extremely annoying driving a mach e on the road at night. All other copetitors (tesla, polestar) have it.
I actually fit a center console refrigerator perfectly in my 2022 MME frunk and it's awesome for keeping groceries cool in the front while my dog chills in the rear. I wish there was a 12v connection there for that purpose so I could actually power the refrigerator. Anyone know of any workarounds for that?
Great video. I’m with Liv-I’d rather have the frunk space. We do use our frunk quite a lot. The efficiency is good enough for us around town and we don’t do really long road trips anyway. LOVE the velocity blue! But I still miss the cyber orange. Cheers!
It amazes me that the Mach E is the oldest BEV that for produce and it's still better looking than the 2 newer platform's they produce on the VW BEV sledge.
We use our frunk, stores lawn chairs, cleaning supplies, and when I get the Tesla adapter it will go in there as well. The Mach E is the most enjoyable vehicle we've owned, won't go back to an ICE .
I’ve got the 23 GT and I’m completely happy with it. I don’t think I would upgrade it all right now I mean I’m still having a new car Experian even though it’s about 10 months old for me. But the grill you said it’s a 24 grill on the front of that 25 it looks exactly like my grill on my 23 so I guess I got a 24 grill.?
If i see well, there isn't an L mode on the new gear that Is moved near the steer, Is there no chance tò select regeneration brake quantity in 2025 model?
Wow! That Velocity Blue looks really awesome. Now what to I do? Do I get a ‘24 that comes with The Ford Power Promise and $5000 or get a ‘25? I am keeping fingers crossed that Ford will still offer the free charger and installation past 1/2/2025!
Okay okay I have to admit maybe I don't know what a heat pump is. I'm under the the assumption that it was only for to keep the battery at a warm temperature during cold weather. But from with the guy just explained is for the Texas heat as well which I'm from the north. I'm from New Jersey but I live in Texas
They don't have a very strongly defined shape, they just look like one big mass on wheels with no real styling. Think things like that Mercedes EV sedan. Ford's said their upcoming 30k affordable small EVs won't look like anything people expect. I really hope that doesn't mean they look like areo blobs.
Probably no earlier than 2026. Ford hasn't said one way or the other. Tesla just asked other EV vendors to standardize the charger port either on the rear left or front right. That would mean Ford has to do a significant redesign on the MME if they're going to comply with that.
I’m an Orig Mach-3 prem. I want a new. #1 issue need better seat comfort in rear, my family hates to ride in the back of my car, to the point we bought a different car for my wife as our “long trip” car. Would really like to know “How much” better that is?
i put anything that might smell in the frunk such as takeout food, left over. gym bag, etc.. i hope the software is faster and a more powerful processor is included.
Hey, let me first say again like I always do when I leave a comment is thank you and it's good to see you again. I've been following you for the past year and I'm glad to see you guys are doing with you too. Love to do now. The 2025 Mach E I have to say I'm jealous because they have a heat pump and I don't but they give you some insight. I am an electrician and I do store my backpack which is my tool bag as well as my insulated water boots hard hating best I store my tools for work in my frunk. So it sucks to see that you're losing space for the frunk because of the heat pump but like the guy explained something gots to go
I really want to know what customer feedback they are listening to and what focus group they are conducting because a lot of these changes are what I (and seemingly many others in the comments) wanted to keep: rotary change dial, larger frunk. Nothing else aesthetically was changed or improved. Changes that would make this car truly stand out: larger frunk, digital rearview mirror, center console turn dial, panoramic/wider gauge screen, wireless charging that keeps the phone cool. Things like that I find way more important.
It's still important when it comes to having to install a new one yourself. Or when battery dies somewhere and you need a jump from someone. Just hold on I have to remove the panels to get to my battery without dropping and losing the clip. Sorry I don't have time to wait while you do all that.
This was a great video. I would appreciate the heatpump in my Mustang Mach-E in Virginia but I appreciate the bigger frunk. I wish the performance appearance package available when I got my Mach-E even more now since Cyber Orange isn't a color you can choose anymore. But I ended up getting the old GT rims my premium because I wanted the wider tires and they looked so good. I really hope we get the instrument cluster update. Having a power bar is one thing I've been wanting since I got my car. If we could get the speed in the center again with the cool graphics I would be very happy.
@@TB-um1xz We've had quite a few really cold weeks these past few years and have had our fair share of snow. I think it would be welcome. I think all the dealer ordered Mustang Mach-Es around here are AWD.
I really like your profung questions to ford. well done interview, llooking forward to the 2025 model. Since I am based in europe, can you address some questions related to EU models setups available (e.g. some trims come standard or different setups like the performance pack was stabdard in any GT in the past)
I love heat pump, but I think it should use more design clues from 2 doors mustang version. I don’t like Tesla’s version of column shifter. I think ford should use same column shifter as F-150 and super duty.
I'm a premium owner. I chose the premium all-wheel drive extended range. I did this because I wanted the distance over the GT which loses the distance but it gains performance. Wish the performance on the premium. It's a tad bit slower but the premium is just as fast. Not to mention when you get more people into the electric vehicles like the programmers, the developer software developers, you'll have people that can do what they do to increase speed to increase range to its Max performance on the premium models. But I would have loved and wanted to see magneride suspension on the premium models. I just thought it was more money. When I do decide to change out the suspension I will take it to Ford and see if Ford will sell me magna ride suspension for the vehicle. I didn't care about the G. Seating. Overall I want it range
I'd rather have more space in the frunk than a heat pump. I don't blame Ford for making that tradeoff. I think Tesla -- because they used them -- convinced way too many people that it mattered. The fact he can't give you a range increase number says it all about how important it is. The metric about how often you use the frunk is misleading. I rarely open the frunk but it's terrific when road tripping. It's an absolutely phenomenal place to store things you don't use very often. But again, I understand that telling your customers they don't know what is good for them is a losing argument. Biggest improvement for me might be the retuned suspension. Have to see how that works. I love moving the shifter on the stick. That's one thing I like on the Tesla. The ventilated seats might be great but I've never been uncomfortable with the existing seats.
I'm rooting for Ford. They make a good product and seem to have good people working for them but I think the dealers pushback on EV's is going to be too much for them to overcome. I see them transitioning to PHEV and Hybrids primarily.
Mach e owner here. The gear shifter is a plus improvement. I truly hate the dialer gear. It's stupid and I'm glad they removed it. Other improvements are welcome but I wouldn't upgrade my car after the lease ends. The car is excellent but it's boring to drive.

The Mach-E has an industry standard charge port. The charging times of the Mach-E are actually pretty comparable to the Model Y at 10-80%.
SO COOL!! thanks for the vid y'all!
Thank you. Would like to know how loud the heat pump is in the 2025. This is very important to me.
As soon as we get a chance, we'll test one and see how loud it sounds.
@MachE_VLOG Thanks the refreshed Rivian is really loud.
I love the old shots you did at the auto show 5 years ago. You already looked like pros! 👍
I sat in this exact blue Mustang later that day, but there was no one to give me a tour. I didn’t even realize it was the new 2025 model until I saw your video. Kind of dumb of me, I should have figured that out on my own. But then again, maybe Ford should have put up a big sign. 🤷🏼♂️
Ventilated seats would get me to upgrade my 22 GTPE to the 25.
Ford makes beautiful cars!
They always have!
It’s a great EV for sure!
Great video. I’m with Liv-I’d rather have the frunk space. We do use our frunk quite a lot. The efficiency is good enough for us around town and we don’t do really long road trips anyway. LOVE the velocity blue! But I still miss the cyber orange. Cheers!
What does adding a heat pump do?
Heat pumps generally are more efficient for heating so it should help improve the range in colder weather.
How about a lighted glovebox? Hands free liftgate?
Patrick, does it still have the 5 second power issue? Or the 72 mph power problem.
That's been long gone. For 2024, they switched to a new motor.
The heat pump should be more efficient than the current heater and more efficient than the current AC.
So disappointed I cant get Magnaride and ventilated seats. Come on, Ford you're killin me!!
Patrick, what do you mean about some EVs are blobs??? 😂
Love the videos from you guys! 👍
They don't have a very strongly defined shape, they just look like one big mass on wheels with no real styling. Think things like that Mercedes EV sedan.
Ford's said their upcoming 30k affordable small EVs won't look like anything people expect. I really hope that doesn't mean they look like areo blobs.
Can the Ford bring back the double sunroof on the mach e ?
Do you know if the 2025 model has the nacs connector or still ccs?
@@christopherdokken7930 CCS.
The car is gorgeous. It looks and sounds amazing. Plus no more gasoline. I'll absolutely love to have two. One for me and one for the wifey 😊
i put anything that might smell in the frunk such as takeout food, left over. gym bag, etc.. i hope the software is faster and a more powerful processor is included.
So it sucks to see that you're losing space for the frunk because of the heat pump but like the guy explained something gots to go
Will 21s ever get BC 1.3?
Hate the gear shift knob on the damn stalk!
Has the processor finally been updated on the main screen ?
Barely I tested the auto show and it’s still laggy as heck
@ that’s disappointing:/
that blue is a nice copy of riptide blue on the blazer ...... lol
Should have ask about easier access to 12v battery.
That's becoming less important as the 12V software improves. Most new owners don't have issues anymore and don't care about it.
Is the heat pump really necessary in Virginia? Been pretty mild since the snow storms of 2015 and 16.
@@TB-um1xz We've had quite a few really cold weeks these past few years and have had our fair share of snow. I think it would be welcome. I think all the dealer ordered Mustang Mach-Es around here are AWD.
That would look so great besides my velocity blue f150!!
I really like your profung questions to ford. well done interview, llooking forward to the 2025 model.
Since I am based in europe, can you address some questions related to EU models setups available (e.g. some trims come standard or different setups like the performance pack was stabdard in any GT in the past)
What about the charge port
What about it?
I love the Mach-E but have to wait for a lower MSRP.
Pretty darn cheap right now
I love heat pump, but I think it should use more design clues from 2 doors mustang version. I don’t like Tesla’s version of column shifter. I think ford should use same column shifter as F-150 and super duty.
Can you add a heat pump to a 2023 Mustang Mach E?
@@prairie3556 Nope.
Everyone wants to run 3sec 0-60, we all want magnaride. I wish ford would just make one version and be done. Make it perfect.
I traded my tesla for a ford and I don’t look back. These cars are way underrated.
Good video. Like your hair Liv.
Thanks Brian! 💙 - Liv
Would love to see them add a HUD.
I used to dislike HUDs, but now they have really gotten good and I wish we had one in our Mach-E.
@MachE_VLOG funny, I have a HUD in my jeep and I hardly look at it. Muscle memory has me looking inside.
Please, make the infotaiment system snappy and less laggy than the 2024! It is so so so laggy - it is a known issue with Mach-E!
Would be sweet if they made the frunk powered open and close
The Biggest update needed was a CPU that's 5 times better than whatever they are using now. Also, the clunky poop UI
I thought they discontinued this car since it doesn't sale
LOL. Sales are up about 23% this year and they outsold the Ioniq 5, EV6, ID.4, Equinox, etc. It is still far behind the MY but it's doing fine.
You need to keep up to date friend….this Mach E has been doing great!
@cwqrpportable 10% decrease in Q3 compared to sales in Q3 of 2023. You need to keep up to date.
@@tomcat6933 In November, Mach-E sales were up 38% compared to last year and so far this year Mach-E sales are up 25%. This from the latest sales data that Ford released last week.
@@tomcat6933 I’m up to date with factual stats; you should give it a try friend.
Wow. As soon as I saw those wheels... curb curb curb. Ouch
Small frunk is a huge turn off :( should of made some some type of redesign to keep the same or even add more frunk storage
Looks just like a 2023 they really dropped the ball with the small screen by the steering wheel. Should’ve been a way bigger screen like how they have the new mustang GT also LED lighting would have been a big upgrade, especially comparing to these electric BMW Mercedes-Benz given it luxury , better buckets seats also.
So if the shifter goes where the wiper stalk was, where did the wiper controls go?
Combined with the blinker stalk on the left.
That’s stupid that the sunroof doesn’t open !
This will be a Great car in a year when you can pick them up for 25K
