Goring's path is known to be quite buggy currently with problems like unable to do focuses despite having the requirements necessary. There is a submod called Goring's Wild Ride that I believe fixes these issues, it also has the option to disable nuclear war and the constraints you get at war.
You should've used the Goering's Wild Ride submod, since it fixes his bugs and gives an option to disable nukes. Also, in TNO, there's a twist ending if you wait to start War Plan C until after the Oil Crisis in 1970.

Apparently the Halloween event for Burgundy is still playable. You have to do some weird stuff with the debug menu, but a conquest as the Horde would be really cool!
Speaking from experience, losing prussia to surprise divisions almost *certainly* wasn't your fault. All the German Civil War contenders have access to a set of decisions involving their legitimacy and influence which are incredibly useful and I would recommend you use if you decide to do this again. One of them however is 'incite revolt in x contender', which spawns 3 or 4 LI units behind their lines which then walk around and take as many VP's as they can.
Fun Fact, the Mediterranean wasn't drained by the Dam in this mod, Goering just got a bit thirsty after eating so much German food so he washed it down with some refreshing water.
