One of the best teachings. So much so I could see a valuable follow up for making teshuvah for lashon hara (where biblical of course not in all aspects of rabbinic lashon hara)

This seems like a basic concept for all of mankind: guard your mouth against things like gossip, slander, speculation, rumors, baseless accusations, and the like. Don't speak death like the wicked do.

If we put bits into the mouths of horses that they may obey us, we guide their whole bodies. 4 Look at the ships also; though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. 5 So the tongue is a little member and boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by a small fire!

      Shalom Kelly Redeemed By Christ,
The purpose of a court is to give a fair trial, and ascertain whether a person is innocent or guilty, so that a correct verdict can be reached. Of course you can testify against someone in court; that's what court is for. The important thing is that your testimony is the truth, because if you testify falsely against someone in court, the penalty is very severe (Dt. 19:16-19). God's ideal is that cases will be tried in court, by a righteous judge, with access to all of the evidence, rather than in the "court of public opinion," where people can make false claims that destroy the reputations of others, and there is no way to cross-examine them, to officially confirm or deny their stories.
We hope this helps. Blessings to you and yours.

@@119Ministriesin chasidic communities this can be a very big deal. Lots of unreported crimes. Lots of witnesses do not testify against the guilty in very terrible crimes😢. So they are able to repeat their crimes on their victims and others.

    119 Ministries,
I have been calling out pastors that I have a personal relationship with and have tried to privately correct, but they are adamant in their convictions that יהוה’s (YHWH / Yahweh) Torah (Law / Instruction) is abrogated.
I see the seriousness because it makes Yehsua (Jesus) out to be a liar (e.g. Matthew 5:17-20 & Luke 16:17).
Am I in error for doing this after having been patient (years) with them?

what about calling out self-proclaimed prophets proven to be false ones? or calling out cults that pervert the word of God? is one guilty of lashon hara for these things?

    • @119Ministries
      @119Ministries  3 роки тому +4

      Shalom Kel harantish,
In the case of calling out "prophets" or "cults," it's important to understand something:
      1) The penalty for being a false prophet, or for directing people to the worship of gods other than Yahweh, is death (Deuteronomy 13:5).
      2) If you testify that someone has committed a crime, and it turns out that your testimony is false, the penalty upon you is the same as the penalty that the accused person would suffer if they were guilty (Dt 19:16-19).
      3) So, according to the Torah, if you accuse someone of a capital offense, such as false prophecy, and you are incorrect, then you incur capital punishment yourself. Therefore, it is not advisable to accuse a person or group of false prophecy or false religion unless you are willing to bet your life on it.
This is different than disagreeing with a public claim that someone has made and providing evidence to the contrary. But I would advise that a person stop well short of proclaiming that another person is a "false prophet" unless he has a most thorough understanding of the situation, and a mountain of evidence. God takes false accusations very seriously. One must also consider Yeshua's teachings in Matthew 18, which state that ideally sins should be addressed first in private, and then by the the church, before they are made public. This isn't always possible to do, but whenever disputes can be settled this way, they should be.
One only has to look at modern "cancel culture" to see the problems with being able to freely and publicly accuse others of heinous crimes. People are constantly being "tried" in courts of public opinion, and the "verdicts" that are being given are anything but fair and just. Whether the allegation is that a person abuses women, or is a racist, or whatever the flavor of the week for heinous crimes is, the consequences of being able to publicly falsely accuse others without penalty is that many innocent people are having their lives ruined--losing their friends, losing their jobs, and facing public humiliation--simply because they are being accused of terrible things, rather than because there is irrefutable evidence that they have committed crimes. This is a situation that God wants to avoid, and we should want to avoid it too. If we are flippant about our public accusations of people that we don't like, then we have no grounds to complain when such accusations are inevitably made about us.
We hope this helps. Blessings to you and yours.

@@119Ministries Thank you so much for taking the time to respond and in such great detail. Calling out a "church" with cult-like practices (separating families, friends, tolerates divorce towards members who leave, and much more) is a risk I would take to let others know not to join such a group in order to avoid suffering as those that are still in supposed "church" as these.
Your teachings are always a blessing. May God bless your ministry all the more.

Why are you considering the writings of this rabbi? All Jesus did was criticize the hypocrisy of the pharisees. The Bible says have no fellowship with darkness but expose it. The prophets would regularly call out the injustices done by the people of Israel, calling out things like dishonest business practices, taking advantage of the widow and the fatherless and things like that. This rabbi sounds as if he is trying exhert power and control through a veil of silence that protects the powerful like Torah teachers. The Bible explicitly prohibits gossip, tale baring, false accusations and slander. And some people can with evil intentions twist truth. But I think the writings of this rabbi is dangerous because it can protect abusers and guilt victims into keeping silent.

It depends on the intent of what you are spreading, is it to harm the person being spoken about? Or is it to protect the person or people you are telling? Do you have all of the details of what they did? You should be absolutely sure you are correct about what you are spreading before telling others about it. Because even if your intent is to protect others and the story you are spreading isn't completely true you are indirectly only hurting the person you are speaking about. That's so evil and can ruin families for generations

We need the Torah, the Tanakh, the renewed covenant, also called the New Testament, and therefore, of course our Isaiah 53 Messiah, Yahushuah.
We need the Ruach haKodesh, also called the Holy Spirit. Messiah said that we need that no man should teach us, but that the.ruach haKodesh will teach us.
