The fact that the judge thought that both sides had issues in the v incident is astonishing. Like that man has clearly done nothing wrong other than the questionable glitterbomb. But everything else? God I wish all bad things happen to that V woman.

But yeah V isn't going to have things go well for her! After her actions, I'd be surprised if she has ANY friends around her! And a person who starts a relationship KNOWINGLY with a taken individual. Becoming a WILLING Affair Partner is NOT a person of good character! It won't last, and even if Mr. California wants to be an "honest man" thinking he's better then OP. She'll simply cheat on him as what I said about WILLING Cheaters applies to the "Taken individual doing the affair" and she's shown how "not right in the head" that she is and is a chronic instigator and liar! So he's in for a world of HURT if she turns on HIM one day! Either way when she moves, she'll be LONG FAR from anyone she knows, so she'll have to start over (not that she wouldn't have to anyway as I'm sure there are ALOT of "friends" of hers that became EX friends after this shitshow)

I THOUGHT THE SAME, he clearly had alibis and evidence with 99.9% of her claims being false. The only thing I can think of is the judge is annoyed and feels like her time was wasted so instead of giving full justice she just took it out on both parties.

@@genesmith4386 Because he won the case. Like he said fathers are second class citizens in family court. The fact that he got full custody says a lot about her. That hardly ever happens outside of cases where the mother for one reason or another didn't want custody. Its an uphill battle to get shared custody and even then the father is usually hanging on by a thread.

Funny thing is my ex tried a few things like that, but she ended up doing some time because falsely reporting a crime when you know for a fact that no crime was being committed is a felony. I had to go back to her place to move my stuff from her place to my new apartment. I had a camera on me and I loudly announced it when I came in that I was recording the event. Still, she claimed that I stole from her. She also claimed I attacked her boyfriend and her. Then claimed I went back to vandalize her home, that she saw and interacted with me. At the time of that event, I was on a plane.
Now I'm just laughing my ass off from the other side of the bars.

I have 2nd hand experience of some of these things. My friend found out his gf was gonna cheat, and he instead waited for it to happen, then left. He explained it as ghosting a cheater, which made sense to me. Also, I work in a court house. All I really do is sort files, which means I can see brief summaries of who is being charged with what (I work with the criminal files). I've also had to substitute for a clerk on 2 occasions, and there was one time where a woman was filing harrassment reports that were somewhere between lies and nonsense to get her former partner to lose custody of their 4 year old son. Luckily the judge knew it was nonsense from the beginning.

No way is he the jerk. As for the second part her saying, "why are you taking my stuff?" Was a clear indicator that she was planning on setting him up as a thief and had a "witness" on the phone but by calling the police she messed it up. I also suspected as soon as she put stuff out that belonged to the daughter she would have some of her own items in there, unfortunately for her the officer knew they had not touched those items and he was the one to notice the phone.
He should have brought his phone with the messages giving him proof to come inside to the judge though. As much as they hate disrespect in their court room I would still be extra careful and bring that evidence but luckily the judge rememberd his ex wife constantly ignoring court dates. I am surprised she didn't have a warrant out for her unless it was because she was the accuser.

Unfortunately depending on the state you live in divorce can be very tricky just like child custody. In one state once you divorce that’s it, in another one party may be required to pay a certain amount to the other for the rest of their life or just a certain amount of time. Depending if there’s a prenup or any other agreements made for if a divorce is needed due to cheating you may need a certain amount of proof to be able to leave without having to deal with what’s written in the prenup. Long story short it will always be best to have as much evidence as possible

I think the OP might've waited for the ex to actually cheat on him with Paul1 before leaving her because he still had hopes that she wouldn't go through with it and maybe the relationship wouldn't end. Nowhere does it say that he already knew by then that she had already been cheating on him for 6 years prior to that one time. Plus, not everyone can be as decisive as to immediately end a 15 year marriage the moment they find an intention to cheat from their partner's side. Many people would hold on to the hope that their spouse wouldn't go through with it and try to patch things up if they don't.

First off the OP did need for V to actually cheat on him. He repeatedly stated that being a man in Massachusetts is already a disadvantage in court. He needs to stack plenty of evidence just so he doesn't lose everything to V.
Second, the first court hearing with V and him was to extend the protection order or gwt it dismissed. He had the texts saved for the custody hearing. I'm sure with all the stress he was going through it slipped his mind that the texts would come up as they were two parts of a whopping nineteen incident reports that V made against him.

He should have brought his phone with the messages giving him proof to come inside to the judge though. As much as they hate disrespect in their court room I would still be extra careful and bring that evidence but luckily the judge rememberd his ex wife constantly ignoring court dates. I am surprised she didn't have a warrant out for her unless it was because she was the accuser

In the US fathers have a huge unfair disadvantage in custody battles, and from what the story is saying it sounds like New Hampshire is worse than most. Chances are if he hadn't caught her cheating he would have gotten zero custody.

I'm all for restraining orders when appropriate, but at the same time, the idea that someone places one on you and that means all your firearms are taken away from you?
    That's just wrong.

When it comes to custody battles, having evidence, proof, of infidelity, matters a lot. It can keep someone from having to pay alimony for example, or get them out of child support in some cases, as well as can nullify divorce settlements like splitting things 50/50. It's better to keep a level head, get proof, more so in a state where things are a lot harder on a man than a woman (which is most every state), and present it and all the evidence collected for your own case. Plus seeming level headed and patient and calm, not angry and lashing out like most would be, looks better in a court of law. Sometimes, it's not needed, was wasted time and effort, but vast majority of the time, it's better to have that all over not having it when it comes time to go to court.
As for WHY he didn't bring any of that to court, the hearing was for a matter of renewing the order against him or not. Sure, he should have had them handy, print outs or on his phone to show the judge. But the ace in the hole was the anti-harassment order filed against the ex-wife, so that is where he was hedging his bets on. After all, OP isn't a lawyer so probably didn't think to have the documentation handy.

Ok so amithejerk the reason why he stayed with her is the fact that he needed hard evidence to be able to get out of the relationship so he had to stick it out until he had that evidence

More often than not with cheating in divorce, the more evidence the better. Either to improve your gain from the divorce if your in an at fault state, or being able reduce the risk of flying monkeys harassing you if the vheater doesn't want others to know they cheated/ had an affair. It can be torture but it is useful for multiple reasons.
