I still use my iPhone 5 when I visit the Philippines. It's fitted with an 1800 mHa battery which is brilliant. It gets a signal just about everywhere and works as smoothly as it did when I brought it new.

Actually watching this from one. It is my daily driver. Previously, I used a 5C but I refurbished it and it looks so new and intact, so I do not want to ruin that. This 5 is also a refurbished one, got for around 5 usd, without a screen, broken camera lens and bad lightning connector. It is fully functional now, though the housing is not in the best condition. Dbrand is on the way, though.
5 is also my favorite, even though I had no 6 and 4, the design, the camera is still good, I love my old iPhone 5 even though it wasn't really mine, I only borrowed it for 2 years

I had an iPhone 5 back in 2012 and absolutely loved that phone. Honestly, I miss its heyday. I'd paid the extra 100 bucks to get the 32GB model and back then that much space felt infinite. I've had an iPhone 6, 6S, 8 Plus, and XS (currently) since then and while I haven't disliked my time with any of them, the 5 is the one I look back on most fondly.
It’s a damn shame they couldn’t get the Slate Grey color right for the iPhone 5. It’s the best version of black/grey of any iPhone and would have loved to have it on a iPhone 5S or SE.

This was my last iPhone switched to Android phones since then. Going back to the iPhone after all these years and the 12 Pro having the same design is so awkward but it's an awesome design.

I have iPhone 5s Silver 16Gigs. The battery 🔋 is terrible terrible terrible. I loved every bit of it for the first 3 years and then 🤮 because of the poor battery. Apple doesn’t even have do battery replacement now. iPhone 5S is a masterpiece. I still love it.

NOW it just says "no service" at the top of the screen, and I haven't been able to call or text. I have serious financial and life obligations and am not going to plunk down half a grand for a telephone. I'll go back to that flip phone type before I'll pay an obscene amount of money for something like that. I just need function - not flair or flash. I will try to see if it will work for a day or so using as many options as I can find, but if it won't resume working, even tho I'll be very disappointed, I will move on to something more dependable yet frugal. I use an iPhone 5 as my secondary/iPod. Basically to speed this thing up you have to tone down all the settings that would take workload and stress away from the processor by having it off Things like: -transparency -shake to undo -spelling -caps -auto correct -background app refresh -spotlight search results Basically turn off everything you can and can't see other than the things you *absolutely* need and youre sitting with a phone that can do a couple cool things vs the device being an overwhelming excuse to procrastinate. Lol No folders, just apps laid out as if it was an older version or something. Once you turn most of that off the phone actually keeps up to the point I would use it as a daily as I sell/upgrade/trade in the previous phone.
I have a new iPhone 12 Max Pro now and I still love my little iPhone 5! I kept hold of it when I upgraded back then to the iPhone 6 Plus and have used it as an iPod then for bedroom music server duty ever since. It's the best industrial design and the white and silver color scheme is beautiful. The design touch of the little silver rings around the light and camera lens are jewel like. I remember the introduction with Jonny Ives saying the word chamfered in his British accent, the first time I'd ever heard that word. He went on to ruin the UI with iOS 7 but nobody's perfect!
I have a 64GB model on iOS 10 that I use as a backup phone, it originally had a dead screen so I ordered a water damaged iPhone 5 off ebay to use parts from but I managed to turn it on and it was running iOS 6! (only problem is it can't connect to mobile networks) So nostalgic, the hardware and software are simply beautiful
I had the iPhone 5 in silver when it first released. It was a gift, I was 15 and had had my iPhone 4 for two years and oh boy was it a nice upgrade! I loved it. Those were simpler times. My XS Max of today is also holding up well and I'll be upgrading to whatever comes out this year. 👌
I own a 5 and still use it as a secondary iPod/portable browser/UA-cam watcher/Roku remote. It works okay and serves it’s purpose but it definitely shows it’s age with some slow down but not as bad as the 4S on iOS 9. Mine still has an okay battery where I can get over an hour maybe two of screen time. It was also the first iPhone with 4G LTE. You should try using this phone for a week like you did with the 4S not too long ago.

What's cool about the super out of date specs is that it was still refined well, so you get "good quality" results from the cameras despite being 1.2mp and low video recording res ;p
I've got two old "nostalgia iPhones": 5 and 3GS. It turned out that I used the 3GS way more throughout the last months because of IOS 6. IOS 6 makes the 3GS a great mp3 player (old music app), has the wonderful appearance and is actually still reasonable quick when doing basic tasks like texting, calling or playing the games from then. When I'm not in a hurry I even use the 3GS to look up things on the internet...
I loved my iPhone 5 I had up to October 2019 when I finally bought a iPhone 11. It was a great phone and worked fine until I bought my iPhone 11. FYI it still works. It’s so much prettier than my iPhone 11.

The problem with iPhone 5 is the battery drains quickly.Since the original Apple iphone 5 battery got damaged & costs 10 times more than the present iPhone 5 value i had to settle with 1st quality battery for half the original battery price. So far impressions of this phone still usable for calls , pictures and google navigation . it’s a pocket friendly phone.Small size of screen can be a strain these days.otherwise its good phone.

I'm still using the 5 as a back up phone and it still works great. I had to change the battery earlier this year and now it holds for almost the entire day. I have the white/silver one and it is still in prime condition. I should have bought the 5SE, which I regret not getting till today duh!! Its BT still connects great to my new car. Defo connects better than even the latest iPhone and the latest Samsung.
Never had an iPhone 5 when it was still usable, but I did just fetch one off eBay that was running iOS 6.0.1, which was really impressive and in great condition. I collect old iPhones that ran their original firmware to relive the past to when those phones were the newest and back when Apple was good in my opinion. Getting apps isn't that hard since I have my second generation iPod touch with iOS 4.2.1 and can back up the IPA files off it so I can install them. I also sync music that was popular back then so I can truly immerse myself in the past somewhat.

My iPhone SE runs that very same iOS 10... But its got like 6x more performance Why dont you install iOS 8.4.1 and retest it? Got a 5c with iOS 8.4, it performs pretty well (compared to SE on iOS 10.3.1)
I am work shopping getting an iPhone to make into a dedicated music player. There's an app that one can download to make the front screen look and function like a iPod classic.
To be fair the battery isn’t awful if you replace it, and the 5 is extremely easy, it doesn’t even have the pull tabs of the 5S and above, it’s just one single plastic strip you pull up on. Even as an amateur, it only took about 10 minutes
How about 4S in 2020? I upgraded to iPhone XR but I still use the 4s every now and then. It’s currently on iOS 8.4.1 (I just appreciate iOS 7+ new design and I wanted an untethered jailbreak so I think 8.4.1 is the best version to have on the 4s in 2020)
I used to use a white iphone 5 from late 2018 to late 2019. It was still usable except for gaming until I stopped using it when apps stopped supporting it. Now I am using an iphone 7 though the screen seems a little small at times and the battery health on it is 85%

I bought iPhone SE 64 GB Rose gold recently. I’m going to collect 5/5S/SE 🥰. Just 112 grams easy to carry compact enough to use in one hand. iOS is smooth, audio quality is great with SONY headphones. cost of the phone is LOW. Phones are invented for communication not for wasting precious time watching movies or games.
The iPhone 5 was my first iPhone. I still think that it has the best design on every iPhone. I remember having an App on it, which took panorama photos with the help of the vibration motor. You had to put the phone vertically on a desk and whenever the vibration motor kicked in, the phone rotated. Every few degrees, the App stopped the vibration motor and took a photo. In the end, all photos were combined to a panorama photo. It was a very cool feature. Sadly, I don‘t remember the name of the App.

two of the owners where i work are still rocking their iphone 5 phones, they are stil going strong apparently and dont see the need for a new one hahahha

It was my first iphone and I still find it the most beautiful black tone on any iphone. Wished I still had it, but I would put iOS6 on it for sure.
I am using as a backup phone to my iphone 7 plus. The problem with iPhone 5 is the battery drains quickly.Since the original Apple iphone 5 battery got damaged & costs 10 times more than the present iPhone 5 value i had to settle with 1st quality battery for half the original battery price. So far impressions of this phone still usable for calls , pictures and google navigation . it’s a pocket friendly phone.Small size of screen can be a strain these days.otherwise its good phone.

Ok this will sound dumb but Josh why dont you pay the 40 dollars for a new battery ? i did this in my old 5s as i love having a small phone , i just cant get used to these huge 6 inch phones they look too much like smaller iPads for my liking

My wife just upgraded her iPhone 5 to an SE...not the new SE, the old one from 2016!
I'm still using the 5 as a back up phone and it still works great. I had to change the battery earlier this year and now it holds for almost the entire day. I have the white/silver one and it is still in prime condition. I should have bought the 5SE, which I regret not getting till today duh!! Its BT still connects great to my new car. Defo connects better than even the latest iPhone and the latest Samsung.
Never had an iPhone 5 when it was still usable, but I did just fetch one off eBay that was running iOS 6.0.1, which was really impressive and in great condition. I collect old iPhones that ran their original firmware to relive the past to when those phones were the newest and back when Apple was good in my opinion. Getting apps isn't that hard since I have my second generation iPod touch with iOS 4.2.1 and can back up the IPA files off it so I can install them. I also sync music that was popular back then so I can truly immerse myself in the past somewhat.

Why dont you install iOS 8.4.1 and retest it? Got a 5c with iOS 8.4, it performs pretty well (compared to SE on iOS 10.3.1)

I had the 5s. It was great for a long time which was impressive but it then started to crap out last year so I made a big step to the 11.

The Galaxy S4 can still be used in 2020, with latest update on apps, not the OS. Haven't tried with an S3.
I am work shopping getting an iPhone to make into a dedicated music player. There's an app that one can download to make the front screen look and function like a iPod classic.
To be fair the battery isn’t awful if you replace it, and the 5 is extremely easy, it doesn’t even have the pull tabs of the 5S and above, it’s just one single plastic strip you pull up on. Even as an amateur, it only took about 10 minutes
How about 4S in 2020? I upgraded to iPhone XR but I still use the 4s every now and then. It’s currently on iOS 8.4.1 (I just appreciate iOS 7+ new design and I wanted an untethered jailbreak so I think 8.4.1 is the best version to have on the 4s in 2020)
And now it’s even so good that the iPhone 12,12 Mini,12 Pro and the 12 Pro Max has the same frame as the 5..AND I LIKE IT! *Smell it*

I used to use a white iphone 5 from late 2018 to late 2019. It was still usable except for gaming until I stopped using it when apps stopped supporting it. Now I am using an iphone 7 though the screen seems a little small at times and the battery health on it is 85%

I bought iPhone SE 64 GB Rose gold recently. I’m going to collect 5/5S/SE 🥰. Just 112 grams easy to carry compact enough to use in one hand. iOS is smooth, audio quality is great with SONY headphones. cost of the phone is LOW. Phones are invented for communication not for wasting precious time watching movies or games.

My brother still uses his 5 to this day, but only for mobile hotspot and some photo shooting since the phone logs out his Apple ID by itself
The iPhone 5 was my first iPhone. I still think that it has the best design on every iPhone. I remember having an App on it, which took panorama photos with the help of the vibration motor. You had to put the phone vertically on a desk and whenever the vibration motor kicked in, the phone rotated. Every few degrees, the App stopped the vibration motor and took a photo. In the end, all photos were combined to a panorama photo. It was a very cool feature. Sadly, I don‘t remember the name of the App.
