I'd love to see the 28 return to Cup after the demise of Yates since one of my all time favorite paint schemes in NASCAR is the Gray Ghost and Davey Allison's no. 28 Havoline Ford.
Me randomly: ...the number 00 bc the number can't just go out with a DNF like that. Would be interesting to see the 0 and 01-09 on a NextGen car. Anyways, the 78 if MTJ chooses to go with it for Daytona. It just makes more sense than the 56. Looks nice with the Furniture Row/Spire font.
I agree with the first point. Other than the 00, no car actually attempted a Gen 6 race with a number starting with 0, and same goes for the Gen 7 era so far. The #0 and #09 both attempted races in 2012, but none since.
I guess it's usually available as a free number you can use for your custom car, because it's rarely used by one of the official drivers. Dave Blaney's Amoco #93 was inexplicably left out of almost all the turn of the century NASCAR games, except maybe one of the Papyrus ones iirc. I think there's a playable BK Racing #93 in one of the more recent games, probably a Sieg Racing Xfinity car at some point too.
@@SUPRAMIKE18 My granddad on my mom's side used to work as a machinist for Amoco, and he brought me back a Dave Blaney Amoco (and later BP) diecast every now and then, including his sprint car. I wonder if they also sold diecasts of the other Bill Davis car (#22 CAT) at Amoco locations at some point, because I also had more than one of those that stayed over at his house that I'm pretty sure he got me.
Wanted to correct you on one thing: The Yates #28 was run ONCE by RWR sometime during the 550 era (I think it was 2019? Could be wrong on that front). Track I think was Talladega.
25 for Hendrick Motorsports. It's had drivers like Tim Richmond, Ken Schrader, and Jerry Nadeau. It's also the number Chase Elliott made his Cup Series debut with. In terms of full-time numbers used by Hendrick, it's probably the most overlooked
In 2006 Dale Jr. had the Budweiser number 8 painted like Dale Earnhardts black 3 for Talladega. I think also Dave Marcus may of had the same paint scheme. I think it was a birthday tribute to Senior.
-For the 3 in 2025, do an Dale Sr inspired black GM Certified scheme for spring Atlanta & fall Talladega in honor of Srs last 2 wins 25 years ago. -JGR switch 19 to 18 for Briscoe. -FRM 3rd car should be the 28 -Preece's Darlington throwback Mark Martin's Winn-Dixie Busch car -RCR 3rd car should be 31 -SVGs 88 throwback to Jarretts UPS car, maybe 2005 scheme
Honestly, the Evernham font would be nice to see again along with the 29 or 31 in RCR. The 29 and 31 just fit better to RCR for the reason of they're more popular and more fans recognizable those numbers due to the 31 being one of the longest as you mentioned in the video and the 29 as it was the 3's temporary replacement number that was really recognizable due to Harvicks success with it.
My earliest nascar related memories are the 92 season recap and that #28…. A lot of drivers would have some wins missing and championships would have gone the other way had Davey stayed with us
25 and 28 and the 18... Edit: Another great video, just watched Erics right before this one. So ready for the Daytona 500 and the return of NWP! Chats gonna take back the championship this next year!
29 as well needs to come back. You know else needs to come back? The numbers in general. I was fine with them trying the numbers towards, ht I'm tired of it now, especially with all the other series not doing that.
The 07 car that RCR fielded full time in the late 2000s with Clint Bowyer driving it from 2006-08 and Casey Mears driving it for one season in ‘09. Hell, Jack Daniel’s doesn’t even need to be brought back as a sponsor; I just want the 07 car back.
As a Kyle Busch fan, I like the font he has. It's unique to him. I'm not saying I don't want the DEI font back, but I don't think it should be with KB.
I have a few possibilities that teams should bring back to NASCAR at some point. 1) First up is a missed opportunity by Trackhouse when they chose to use their third charter for the rookie campaign of Shane van Gisbergen; instead of 88 the car should be numbered 97 and have Red Bull sponsorship (Shane's long-time combination of sponsor and car number over in the Supercars Championship) 2) Legacy Motor Club may have brought back the number 84 (last used full-time by Red Bull's NASCAR team), but i think they should field a car with number 92. It'd be a nice callback to Jimmie Johnson's Xfinity years pre-Hendrick (and maybe even have NASCAR's brakes partner sponsor at Watkins Glen as a reference to Jimmie's hard turn 1 hit in 2000) 3) NAPA Auto Parts should try to sponsor a number 62 in the Truck Series as a callback to 2003. Just be careful around a number 10 truck in the finale. 4) Someone should field a car whose number has a leading 0; we haven't seen one of those numbers since Starcom dropped a couple years earlier. Just make sure it's a Chevy team fielding number 07...
Other than the 00, there hasn't been a leading 0 since a one-off race by a one-off team in 2012. The team failed to make the fall richmond race with the #0 car
Two numbers I'd like to see back, 00 Buckshot Jones days, and 71 from Dave Marcis' haydays. I would love to see Dale Jr run the either the Red/Black Bud scheme or the Black tribute car on his late model.
When it comes to NASCAR, I want the #5 car in the Kelloggs Frosted Flakes or Corn Flakes font that was made famous by Terry Labonte at least as a one off scheme if not permanent. That car in the Kelloggs Corn Flakes yellow red & green was the first one I ever saw when watching NASCAR as a toddler in the late 90's. Another font that needs to be brought back in F1 is McLaren dumping that hideous bright orange font & colors they have currently in favor of going back to the red & white font & colors (minus the Marlboro sponsorship from that era) made famous by Ayton Senna, Niki Lauda during his second run in F1 & Prost. Imagine Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri paying tribute to Senna by having the #27 that he won the 1990 World title with or #12 that he won his first World title with in 1988.
I see why a Black Number 3 throwback would be pitched for the Daytona 500 seeing as how it's the biggest race on the schedule and the most eyes on the race, but even 24 years later I think it would be bad PR. I'd ru the throwback scheme at Talladega.
I would say 25 (Hendrick font, specifically the 2000s-era Jerry Nadeau/Joe Nemecheck/Brian Vickers version), 18 (JGR font), 28, 31 (RCR font), and 97 (Roush/RFK font)...

I could be wrong, but I think Joe Gibbs is just waiting for the right time for Ty to run the #18. Honestly, it feels wrong to see that number being driven ONLY in the lower series right now and not the Cup Series. As much as the #54 is iconic in its own right, it definitely won't match the nostalgia of #18. As for the black #3, I guess the healing process from what transpired in 2001 has been completed but I don't see this happening immediately, though, unless RCR throws a curveball and makes this happen as early as the 2025 season. I would love to see Jack Roush when Kaulig leaves the NASCAR Cup Series, bring back the iconic #16 font. And I agree with the #31 RCR font returning. Maybe it will since RCR announced a 3rd Part Time car, but I'd miss the #33 car though to be fair.

The Yates 88 honestly. Nothing wrong with thr trackhouse 88 but I did love the Yates font.
