(Super Glue) It will preserve the face of the button perfectly. Same stuff we use on crumbling dinosaur bones and teeth. Preserve first and bring out the details later.

Nice I found one just like that years ago in really nice shape didn't have a clue what it was went thru my Albert's military button book was astonished when I found it lol here in the Shenandoah valley !!!
