Since I've listened to the separated tracks of the song several times before, I recognize that as a bad loop (not including the primary backing track heard from 0:00 - 0:44). It includes the drum track (from the third "courses" screen) and the extra ambience track from the character select screen. I can also prove that this is not possible to hear in game (The "OK" screen simply adds the engine noise on top and doesn't remove the primary backing track.)
i love this. simply for progression. it starts off low-key, and collected, then you progress, selecting what CC you’d like to play, it builds up slightly, not much, in the moment you probably wouldn’t realise it, but it’s there, it’s getting you ready. next comes the character selection, who’re you going to be? does it matter? you’re having fun! and the music is there to make sure of that, building up again once you’ve selected, now starting to get more bouncy, you’ve noticed it’s changed, and you’re ready, but there’s still one more stage, your kart. your chariot in the race. you select, and by the time everyone’s ready to race, the musics in full swing, everyone’s pumped, get ready, the race is about to start… and youve just got red-shelled, and now you’re in last, and everyone is already a mile ahead, great.
a lot of the assets from double dash were used in wii, including all the character models and animations (excluding new or removed characters) and the starting jingle for grand prix races

I still play Mario Kart Wii sometimes to this day. It was not only a game, a childhood of many. I remember playing this game all day long. It's sad that multiplayer servers closed down real quick. This game and it's songs really make me feel nostalgic. It also makes me wonder what happened to the people working on this game. How they are, if they're doing good. It'd be the biggest flex to show your kids you made this game back in the day. A golden game of it's era. The game which had the most Ultra Shortcuts. I'd pay these guys real good money after the success of this game. Time passes so quickly. Before i even knew it, it has been over a decade. A whole 10 god damn years huh? I'd give anything to go back to those times where everything was much simpler. When we got home from school and played this game. When our moms used to make us fruit plates. Playing this with my older brother was epic. We were just kids. Nothing on our minds. No worries. Also waiting the rechargable batteries used to be so boring. I sometimes used to speedrun it too but god damn people were fast. Real fast i mean. If i had a time machine, i'd change nothing and play this game again (with my memories gone ofc)
I also do play it still in 2022! You can play online again by using Wimmfi's servers, just look a tutorial up on UA-cam for your specific device (console or emulated on Dolphin) and you're good to relive the nostalgia like I did
Of course you can use dolphin as an emulator or use the console. It's not that difficult to mod it out as well! CGTP adds like 200 tracks. Check it out

Its unique games and the way you could interact with the home screen menu was like a futuristic experience at the time since we never felt anything such as this. The way how wii boxing was so interactive and we could enjoy it and actually gain boxing knowledge

Now the disc is scratched up, I can’t play it anymore, but I will never forget this theme, especially the “meow” you keep hearing in it. I also love how the theme progresses with your choices, especially the characters giving to it. To me, it feels… out of this world, more like… surreal!
God. I miss the Spring and Summertime of 2008. Back when both this game and Super Smash Bros. Brawl were both new at the time. I was 15 years old, still in High School. I really miss the feeling of unlocking characters and content for both games. I even miss how it took me DAYS or even WEEKS to unlock the said content, rather than unlocking everything in a couple of hours. It was such a rewarding feeling. Anytime that happened, My sister and cousins would get together and play around with the new characters that I just unlocked for us (This also applied to many past games too like Melee) For Mario Kart Wii, I did nearly all of the unlocking at my Aunt's house (who sadly passed away in 2022) during a sleepover. It was the best feeling in the world finally unlocking everything after a few months of doing so. At the time, the final roaster was huge for a Mario Kart game, and was full of then obscure characters, like Rosalina, Funky Kong, Dry Bowser, King Boo, Baby Peach, and Baby Daisy. I still consider this a perfectly balanced Roaster, and you bet I was very happy when ALL of the MKW cast returned for the final DLC in MK8D. Again, I really miss these kinds of days. Listening to the soundtrack to this game (especially this song) makes me feel very nostalgic and happy. I would do anything to go back in time and relive them. I also miss my Aunt too... May she R.I.P.
Played Mario Kart Wii for the first time in about 10 years yesterday. It was a flood of nostalgia, and this was the track that really brought me back. I thank my grandparents for keeping thier old Wii and games in pristine condition.
