my theory: You know how peter got infected after those punches but dosent get infected when after he punches but after he does them? Well my theory is that peter and ernie fighted soo long that peters DNA was to hate ernie so when ernie punches him, he holds back. But the corruption was probably processing the DNA. You can tell me if thats true or not in the comments
