Gavin can’t beat that as a first truck. LS powered Z71 4x4 and as a dad, it’s a winner for sure. You’re gonna be in that thing for a couple grand all said and done and, like it or not, that ten grand worth of used truck these days. (Or more). Glad you’re back, Josh!
Seems like Gavin should at least get the top layer of scuzz off the interior before handing it off to a detailer. If he's going to spend any time working with pops, he'll have to get used to getting his hands dirty. Always appreciate seeing a teenager not staring at their phone. And that hood isn't a mismatch, G's rocking a two tone!
My first vehicle was a 1966 VW Beetle that barely had enough power to climb a hill but it got me where I had to go. That truck is perfect and even better that it requires wrenching by father and son.
You guys stole that truck. So cool you n your boy working on it together. He will appreciate it so much more. Good to see you again. Don’t see you on JRs channel anymore
The whole GMT 800 platform was amazing. Had a 99 Silverado that just ran like a dream, and then a 2003 Yukon that was every bit as great as a family truck as anything. Honestly one of the best packages to get, and the fact you picked it up so cheap is amazing. I paid just over $6,000 for the Yukon and would happily do it again.
My 08 truck had a crack in the 3rd break light. The water came down on top of the headliners (fiberglass) Rolled down the back corners and made a lake in under the back seat. It wicked all the way to the front. I took the seats, carpet, and padding out. Pressure washed the padding and carpet. Then dried that in the TX sun. Cleaned the seats. Then cleaned the interior if the cab and dried it all out. Replaced the vent corners (sacked out and gummy rubber) replace the 3rd brake light and sealed it. Mine is a GMC, but I'd bet yours maybe leaking. IF you have not replace that while the carpet is out.
That's a fun father son project! Great work! After the detail and the seats, all it needs is a replacement windshield and modern radio so he can drive safely hands free. Not bad for a first truck!
@@TheFracturedRooster well... it is a popular upgrade... I had a feeling it would be part of the glow up for that truck. You guys did a ton on that to get it working well!
Great first truck. Keep it out of the ditch and you'll be just fine. Sometimes the ABS system needs to see some wheel speed before it turns the light off. That's what yours did.
Thanks, I was trying to keep the video length down to a watchable amount. I had 3hrs of video to start with. A lot of it hit the trashcan to get the video under 30 minutes.
Very nice truck and in great shape for it's age just under coat the frame as they are bad for rusting. ABS light on are common it seems for older Chevy trucks.
" Yup you got your hands dirty, It's good for ya" Best Dad advice ever. More of this Josh🎉

Great father/son project!
Pretty smart. Buy son a truck so Pops has a truck any time he needs one.
This has really turned around congratulations Cameron.

Thanks for not stretching this over a bunch of videos. Such a satisfying watch.
How did I not see this? I'll watch both now.

I just replaced a Rack and Pinion in my oldest son’s first car. He watched mostly.
This is a perfect vehicle for a first car. Beyond that your son will learn a lot fixing it up.
Father watching, son wrenching, perfect!!
Video approved, question new windscreen.........the old ones cracking me up.
300 dollars. What a deal. I paid more than that for my first car 50 years ago and it was a beater.

It's great you're doing that with your kid. He'll remember that.
Gavin seems like a nice kid. It's good to see the Fractured Rooster is back. 👍
Looks like a great old truck.
Nice work! That will serve him well.
Nice Truck your pretty dang lucky Gavin !

That is a hell of a great buy, Josh- your kid will be truckin' in style.
Not bad at all, great first vehicle. Look on the bright side at least the hood isn't blue or red.
Awesome first truck. He could drive that for years.
Happy Labor Day and that's the perfect truck for a new driver Good Luck
awesome truck
hood looks ok to me
Fun fact those neutral saftey switches are glued in from the factory had to heat gun mine out and it still broke
That explains why oreillys had one on the shelf. I've never heard of one going bad.
Make some more videos! I’d like to see more assembly and disassembly even in a time lapse would be cool

@@TheFracturedRoosterSorry to bother you but is that your stepson?
This was satisfying to watch. Keep the videos coming.
Excellent content! Not bad on the color match, the two tone front end looks cool. Perfect first vehicle.
Nioce new video
I don't know what the markup on wiper blades is, but somebody is making a killing!!
What a bargain that truck is at $300 can't go wrong.
nice.
That's a great first truck! Enjoyed the video. Your son is 14 and already bigger than you are. They grow like weeds ,don't they?
Put a radiator in it while you’re there
Nice truck! Have one just like it. Good vid
That’s so great. Making memories. Great video.

Nice truck for $300 for your son to learn in and beat up
