Coming in late, i have watched the video before but didnt ask: did you release a cad for it? I would love to have a look 😮 didnt really understand how it works because it doesnt look like the conventional diffrential swerve

Cool concept! What’s the benefit against conventional swerve?

both motors power the spin and the driving. So basically with their setup you get 6 motors driving power instead of just 3 motors driving and 3 steering like you would with conventional swerve.

even more power that can't be put down into the carpet... the traction just isn't there

@@skyeleake9943 At traditional speeds perhaps, but if you are targeting higher top speeds (upwards of 18ft/s) it could actually be quite useful to maintain peak acceleration and prevent motors from overheating. It is not normally important to go that fast most seasons, but with the long straight shot between the human player station and scoring zone, that extra speed can be pretty useful this season.
Remember that having the power to momentarily break traction doesn't mean you can sustain those forces for long without causing some pretty significant heat build up. Falcons might be capable of a lot more stall torque than other motors, but they still need to radiate off heat just like any motor (which they actually do pretty poorly with their plastic housing). This is especially significant since they are running only 3 swerves instead of 4 so each needs to apply more torque to maintain drive power.
In general, I don't think it would be worth it for most teams to try something like this. However, for a team that has the manufacturing ability, design ability, and the time to do it; there are still a few notable advantages to it.

We had issues with traction, but we 3D printed some sharply grooves tread in TPU and they worked really well in terms of traction.

@@howardbartlett3419 Isn't there issues with the turning gearing? I'd assume that the gearing makes the modules twitchier than a crackhead.
Eh, I guess unless you're rotating the modules at like 600rpm, you're not going to overload them.... haha

@@FlatDrifting265 "teams will be limited to four motors that enable the robot to move around the field" aka their design uses 6 drive motors while the new limit is 4 as of this year
