NERF Elite 2.0 hasn't been very good. It's stuck in a weird place between the original NERF N-strike Elite and the seemingly defunct NERF Alpha Strike line which has lead to problems such as poor build quality, unimaginative designs, constant reshells, and prices that don't seem to reflect what the blasters are seemingly worth. Because of this, I've bought so many Elite 2.0 blasters over the years that I intended to do videos on, but could never think of something to talk about because... most of them are just incredibly boring. So this video includes all of them: from the Volt SD-1 to the newest Ranger PD-5. It's time I gave Elite 2.0 a piece of my mind.

The shotgun thing from the loadout pack could be used for really cheap cosplay props. With a bit of paint, some PVC, and a couple LEDs, I could turn it into Mr. Freeze's gun from Gotham. Or a few other things that have a similar design.

im not a fan with the 2.0 color scheme they have but even despite its critisism, i would still buy it for a few reasons myself just so i can have my own opinion on it. there are blasters out there that these youtubers have not liked and or reccommended to buy that i have and i havant had much an issue with. maybe i got lucky or mine are mostly in great condition but it could be that the way i hold and use the blasters.
i say this because when people have seen me hold blasters b4 or an air rifle, ive always had the same response to how i hold it being that i 'hold the guns like someone in the millitary would do'. to me it comes naturally of how i feel like it should be held even if im unsure but i guess i just have some gun handling sense or something idk.

I love how Hasbro is going all "Eco friendly" now with their packaging while still releasing trash like this. They've created more landfill with Nerf the last several years than plastic packaging for the last 5 across 3-4 toy lines. Then there is the part where the new boxes are 100% shop lifter and swapper friendly. Hasbro is really trying to speed run its own demise. Some blasters on the list feel like they could have been a huge hit by just changing how it functions. The eagle point has a great looking compact and sleek shell. That cant be argued with, now imagine it as the Styrfe 2.0, or better yet the Regulator successor with select fire.
Sadly, even though this list is all about the mistakes... I still kind of want to find a flip 32 at a thrift store.

You're forgetting why Nerf is so popular in the first place. They're primarily kid's toys, simple, relatively cheap and safe to play in the home or out in the garden. Even expensive toys break, but with cheap ones, if it breaks, they can easily get another one. Kid's interests are transitory, they tend to grow out of toys quite quickly, and most don't become Nerf hobbyists. So, like most toys, whichever company makes it and whatever the quality, most blasters end up being given away, sold in charity shops and car boot sales, or on the rubbish tip. Any company has to sell enough units to make it financially viable, and the small, but overly vocal, quality obsessed "hobbyist" market can't do that.

Designing a product, checking that it would meet various legal standards in the relevant markets, producing prototypes, testing, agreeing contracts with suppliers, setting up the necessary industrial equipment, staffing, packaging, shipping to wholesalers/retailers, tech support documentation etc. But we all know prices and availability can change dramatically at the drop of a hat. For me, the Trailblazer was the first 2.0 blaster that I actually bought - The gaping hole on the left side is...fine, but that's where modding comes in. The Motoblitz feels like what the entire line should've been based around conceptually - A blaster familiar in function, but bringing something new/interesting to the table (if not borderline gimmicky).

i feel like they should take a break from making blasters for like a year or so and make accessories and more attatchments to the already sold blasters this way giving people even more customisability but also for stuff like the elite 2.0 blasters, they finally get more attatchments that could be useful and therefore could boost the shoddy blaster versions.
think of it like when they do blaster reskins or they bring out the same blasters as before however like they did with the jolt, they made it better, reskined them and gave them small quirks like a modification possibility or a scope or just changed the way it feels and handles. if they do that with the jolt, why not do it on the blasters that are getting heavy negative feedback on and didnt sell well?

I think that another thing that made Elite 2.0 a mistake was that it didn't really have that "game changing" factor (for lack of a better term) that the Elite line had. It was amazing when the Elite line was released, since it was such a huge step from the original N-Strike line (as you explained in your video). The Elite line used direct plunger systems, rather than reverse plunger, making springer blasters more efficient over their N-Strike counterparts. There were semi and full auto flywheel blasters, a step above the original motorized plunger blasters like the Stampede and the Vulcan, and a lot of the blasters were mag fed. When the Elite 2.0 blasters started to come out, there was no "game changing" factor that it had over the Elite line. Many of the blasters were just reshells of already made blasters, as you stated in your video. There was nothing innovative in the Elite 2.0 line over the Elite line, like there was in the Elite line over the N-Strike line. It went from making cool and interesting blasters in the Elite line, to making reshells to make a quick buck just to say that it's a "new" blaster in the Elite 2.0 line. I'm not saying that every single blaster that Nerf releases has to be completely different to the previously released blaster. However, if they're going to make a reshell of a blaster, they could at least have some sort of twist over the original blaster. Hell, it went from us complaining that Nerf didn't paint both sides of the blaster in the Elite line, to trying hard to find any redeeming quality of the blasters released in the Elite 2.0 line. The only blaster that I thought what somewhat interesting in the Elite 2.0 line was the new Motoblitz blaster, but the rest of the blasters just don't do it for me. At the end of the day, however, Nerf, and Hasbro respectively, is a business, and they're going to do make and release whatever blasters make them money, and probably won't care what we, a small albeit ever-growing, margin of the Nerf market has to say. I really do hope that Nerf changes, though. I used to really like their blasters, but in recent years, the once knockoff blasters that I probably wouldn't bat an eye at, have now become the blasters that I look at on the shelves first before Nerf blasters.
A lot of this was probably stated and explained, at least indirectly, in the video, I just thought that I would throw my two cents in the ring. I also know that I probably sound like a Nerfing boomer, shaking my fist at big Hasbro, but I just thought I'd explain why I think that the Elite 2.0 line was a flop, and that I hope that they can turn around the Elite 2.0 line.

Zuru and others have all had quality and reliability issues too. Competition drives price wars, which means trying to cut costs to lower prices. Eventually quality and reliability suffer, but they learn from their mistakes and move on. They have to balance quality and cost against what the market expects and is willing to pay for. Most people won't spend money on a Rolex watch when they can have a Timex that is objectively worse, but far cheaper and does the job well enough. And the main market for Nerf is kids and teenagers, who often play with things for a month or two and then find something else to do... so quality and upgradability aren't such big deals.

It was a cheap toy for you to buy, and like any 9yo, his choice wasn't based on quality and value for money. But you didn't like it, couldn't see the 'objective' value of it, so he couldn't have it. Elite N-Strike had like 90% of its blasters be good whereas the elite 2.0 line has like 3 or 5 at most, with some of them not even being original concepts and a bunch of the bad ones being from the Alpha strike line.

There's a reason that the only Hasbro Nerf line that I actually care about at this point is Rival. The blasters are consistently high quality, consistently actually solid performance, consistently solid ammo, and consistently unique designs. I use my completely stock Charger regularly and love it, I used a Helix literally today and found it quite interesting to use, and there's just more and more I can say. Whether they're "older" blasters for the line like the Hades, Artemis, Kronos, Knockout, etc, etc, or newer ones like the Helix or the Pathfinder, they're legitimately solid and useable, worth their prices, and come with good ammunition. (though, I wish the Pathfinder accepted the old magazines....)

Unlike many on here, you have done what Hasbro have been trying to get people to do for a while... separate the extremely large, "cheap kid's toy" users from the generally older, more serious "hobbyist" users. Realistically, Rival and Hyper rounds are far better platforms on which to base a higher performance series than typical foam darts. Many people traditionally moved on to alternatives like airsoft or paintball, both based on balls not darts, rather than unreasonably expecting dart blasters to transform into something they were never meant to be. Rival and Hyper are Hasbo's alternatives.

As someone just coming back into dart blasters (dropped out shortly after the elite line was dropped) I have to say, maybe it's just cause its the first Nerf blaster I've held in around 10 years, but the trailblazer is everything I was hoping for in a Nerf pistol. Was honestly shocked at how well it performed out of the box (then again, my points of comparison are the original recon and nightfinder) aside from that and the motoblitz though, everything in 2.0 seemed pointless to me.
Also about them "just being toys for kids" another good response would be something about how kids deserve a quality toy to enjoy for years, instead of something that will fall apart in a week.

The original Elite is my absolute favorite product line in all of Nerf history, but Elite 2.0 doesn't belong anywhere other than in a landfill. Aside from the occasional Rival purchase I've spent the last couple years giving all my foam flinging money to Dart Zone instead of Nerf, since these days Rival is Nerf's only product line that you can take out of the box and bring to a Nerf game with no modifications necessary to have competitive range and accuracy.

Each iteration of a retail product line has a limited lifespan, at which point they're changed to refresh their image. In the "toy" market, the most people buying the products will, individually, only be doing so over a short period of time. Usually within the lifespan of just one just iteration, such as Elite. By the time Elite was replaced, most had no interest in purchasing any more Nerf blasters. People who do want a Nerf, usually want and get the latest version regardless, because stocks of old products will have dwindled, as will the relevant advertising. Very few will actually do a direct comparison between generations. Except for hobbyists and adults who take things too seriously. 😂

And thus, Walcom summons the "everything is a Jolt" train of thought
Remember, the Motoblitz is a magazine fed, semi auto flywheeler with an air tank that fires a bunch of Jolts... So is an automated Jolt that reloads automatically, with 6 Jolts under it... So it's just a Jolt :D
Also the editing is pretty weird in this video, at times it makes the transitions make it look that the coming segment is gonna be worse than the previous one and it ends up being more positive, like with the Motoblitz or Ranger. Just pointing that out

    Ok so in my opinion-
-modify the echo with a 12 dart case and the retaliator stock for an extra case
-technician hits hard and adding a stock is useful?
-the elite jolt reskin is good
-add the tri-strike rocket launcher and stock to the commander.
-The ranger…I dunno a stock and a scop helps slightly
    And that’s all.

Theres an exteme amount of nuance to the leak, reveal, and release of the first wave of Elite 2.0 blasters but if theres just one thing I can clarify it's the timing between Elite 2.0 and the Nexus pro. The first Elite 2.0 listings were leaked in early March 2020, (just right before lockdown). The listings were nothing more names and prices, perfect for rampant speculation. Over the next two months we gradually got descriptions and eventually pictures of each of the blasters. Basically by the start of July we knew what each looked and functioned like, as well as some worrisome whispers of the drastic manufacturing changes. Blasters began showing up on store shelves, at least in the US, in early to mid July, when we got our first reveiws from major channels.
The nexus pro was first leaked with a image of the blaster in early July. Listings for the half darts came in mid July, with the nexus actually be found on shelves in late July. Meaning there was very little overlap between what we were speculating Elite 2.0 to be and what we were eagerly hoping was true of the Nexus Pro. Very few people expected it to be a "pro" line at all (that was speculation better reserved for Hyper at the time) and regardless, the nexus didn't play a roll in that speculations since it had not been revealed in any capacity yet
What I think this situation is being confused with was the DZP/ULTRA confusion of the pervious year. We saw listings leaking the name of the ULTRA line with distinct refill packs and a new blaster in early to mid 2019 (I think may but I'm not 100% on that). We didn't have any clue what the line was other than a new ammo type so therefore speculation could run wild. Dart Zone revealed the Mk1 in July 2019 and so following that people began to optimistically assume ULTRA was possibly half darts or incorrectly assume ULTRA was some "response" to the DZP. The images of the ULTRA ONE and the new darts were finally leaked in mid September 2019, with an offical reveal a few days later and a product launch that October.
If you wanna get even more boring and technical I could talk about how Elite 2.0 had the added focus of leaking right during the start of the pandemic and therefore had way more eyes on it with everyone in the hobby only being online, but that's better saved for a long winded video essay on the subject that would have to include a deep dive into the Alpha Strike line as well as ULTRA and Dart Zones various Pro offerings and that's too grand of a project for the comments section

You can’t forget the Nerf magazine shrinkflation. 12 dart straight mags used to be standard (think retaliator) and now it’s 10 dart magazines. They don’t even have the courtesy to make the 10 dart mags banana mags to warrant losing 2 darts

The title is correct, apart from one thing. Elite 2.0 is a mistake except for motoblitz and flipshots
i get it flipshots arent battle effective but i just love the gimmick
edit: i want to mention i got my motoblitz for like $27 i think. And also, if you have a motoblitz and some old screamer darts i highly recommend using them in the shotgun part as it actually works and makes it a lot cooler.
imo, the Motoblitz is just a direct upgrade to the Mediator.

But are you really representative of the typical Nerf user? They are primarily kids and early teens who play casually and not as a hobby. If they buy a Motoblitz, an Echo or a Commander, they still get similar performance... and younger people often choose things based on aesthetics as much as anything else. So they don't have to worry about getting a subjectively "cool" looking blaster that is objectively worse than their friend's choice.

@@another3997 Elite 2.0 in and of itself is fine, especially with the newer ones. I may not be your typical nerf user, but I do fit into the demographic you mentioned (I’m 15). As for aesthetics, imo the Motoblitz is one of the best looking blasters Elite 2.0 has, but that’s just my opinion. Also not sure how the motoblitz is objectively worse than the echo or commander, but whatever. I haven’t kept up with nerf news much for a while now.
