Thanks to youtube and the kind people who uploaded all these unknown music by unknown composers, we get to enjoy so much more beautiful music instead of the same music by the same composers over and over again.
After growing up with musician parents (mom concert pianist, dad played brass instruments and managed 3 symphonies over his career) how am I just now discovering Bortkiewicz? Just heard his music on the radio today and I'm very glad I did!
Bortkiewicz was above all a composer of expressionist aesthetics, always close to drama, depth, anguish and the deep and tormented vision of life that seems to emanate from the metaphysics of man as of his very deep nature

As I listen to this beautiful, never heard of before, composer, I can't help but think of who he sounds like. I hear little bits of Grieg, MacDowell, Granados, and Mendelssohn among others. However, as I listen to more, a distinct originality begins to surface Thank you ever so much for posting this sweet and joyful surprise. It is totally delightful.
Bortkiewicz really is aurprise to me after looking for romantic piano music on UA-cam. It reminds me of Chopin and early Scriabin, but still original. For me as an amateur it's (almost) playable.

Pasional y astuto como una tormenta llena de libertad y melancolía. Cada momento detrás de cada minuto de este disco me hizo sentir un canal entre mi pasado y mi presente. Diez puntos.
As a great admirer of much of Alexander Scriabin's work, I have noticed that a good deal of Bortkiewicz's work seems to, in a strong but not complete capacity, emulate early-mid Scriabin and strikes me as a what-if had Scriabin not embraced his late period musical language (love Scriabin's 7th and 10th Sonatas). Was Bortkiewicz trying to capitalize on the musical language of Scriabin which had captivated the ears of the Russian art music appreciators of the day? We'll never know.

I love Bortkiewicz very much. Thank you. 🌷🌷🌷 (Holland)
Wonderful surprise, the fact that this outstanding composer is almost unknown is near unbelievable. Another Brilliant Classics gem of pristine beauty!
Fortunately our local classical station plays him once in a while

Absolutely brilliant!!
So many pieces are all so unique and fascinating, I'm surprised Bortkiewicz isn't recognized more; his compositions are truly beautiful!
Thank you for sharing this!
Best album I've heard for a looooong while !!

Spellbinding! Where did he "suddenly" come from? Sensational! Part of "Lamentation-Consolation" rivals Master Scriabin.
Stupendo...

34:46 that's Scriabin sonata no. 4! who wrote it first?
Heard that too. If I didn't know I was listening to Bortkiewicz I would have wondered what Scriabin piece this is.
1:03:51 Gintov changed the ending??
Yaass perfect for school
piacevole, pur se assomiglia ad un miscuglio di quanto già ascoltato tane volte. Lo definirei un collage! buono il suono del piano
