170$ for this is completely ridiculous. You could buy the Scythe Inquisitor Transport for 70$ less and get the same amount of minifigures, interior play space and displayability. LEGO is feeling increasingly overpriced this year. If they’re going to charge such high prices, the least they can do is make sure there are plenty of minifigures. 4 minifigures and 1 droid is unacceptable for 170$
I would love to see a series of you improving on existing sets while being conscious of legal building techniques and presumed model briefing (keep core "features"). If anything, it may be a good opportunity to highlight to the community why the sets are the way they are.
@@RamielDerLinke I think the difference is that the tiles have those ridges that mesh with the studs, whereas plates don't have that. The point of 'legal' building techniques is to reduce stress on the bricks and prevent them from being damaged. Using a full plates element between the studs could warp the edges of it over time.
Yeah I wondered about that too. I have her from other sets with a helmet and with a hairpiece. Was thinking maybe he misspoke and meant that this was the first time they've included both a helmet and hairpiece for her in the same set. Otherwise he's definitely wrong.
I got into Lego again a few months ago and have been really enjoying your videos and I'm super excited that the Ship in a Bottle set is on it's way to me :D
The truth is I really like it, mainly for the minifgs but the ship design can't be ignored!! Of course a bigger interior would be nice and is a little disapointing, it looks the part and would be great to display. Unfortunately the price is not up my street😂 thanks for a justified review 😉
Nice set, absolutely brutal pricing. I have been collecting lego for almost 40 years, and while I can still afford it, I have started to really slow down on lego purchases, as the prices are getting out of hand. Too bad, as I have been a lego lover for years, but I can't support the highway robbery that is the pricing lately. Maybe it's time to focus on other hobbies now. Love your reviews though.
I think my first legos wer somewhere around 1988 or something. I'v alwayes modified and built my owne designs and I developed a bit of a picky spending point of view. I know sets are basicley price by piece count but I have more of a price by size atitude and just overall I avoid moste big sets ranging over 50 to 70$ and spend money on severall small sets.
hmm you mentioned it at the End @Tiago: the model briefings are impossible to work with. It would be really cool to hear the processes behind the model creation behind the creative part. How much influence does money and part usage play for example? AS an ex lego employee you sure can tell some stories :)
It’s grievous’ ship all over again. Take an already obscure ship and massively overprice it so it makes even less sales. Or more? If clueless parents just assume the more expensive one is more desirable?
Thanks for this review Tiago. I agree the price is unjustifiable for what you get and to be honest I couldn’t even remember what the ship looked like since it’s not that iconic from the shows it’s been in. So I agree I thought I was the only one who didn’t care so much for this set. But I do want those minifigs. I’m hoping I can sell the set with the box and instructions to recoup the cost of the Minifigs.
That is such a cool set. I especially love the engine part flipping up. But I really don't like that the wing flaps and cockpit aren't held down in some way.
I've been looking forward to all of these minifigures for a while, and while they're well made, the ship and price are terrible. They did not do the Justifier justice, and this is the worst piece for price ratio I've seen lately, aside from the the $35 4+ set with only 85 pieces. I feel like I'm being priced out of LEGO Star Wars with this new wave, which is a shame as it was one of my favorite themes.
What a bizarre design for a ship. having the main thrusters on a single rear mounted pivot... what? It either has other thrusters near the front to counter balance the upward thrust, at which point the gimmick is pointless, or it doesn't and would plow it's nose into the landing pad as it tries to land or take off...
I'm so glad I skipped this one on 8/1. I was so tempted just for the Cad Bane. I'd rather over pay for just the figure than to try to get this set just for the fig hahaha
Will wait for a price reduction (I would expect that in a few months period), and by then, this purchase is entirely justified. Not that I need a justification to buy LEGO of course, but the price range of this set makes me think if it's justifiable. So many words for a simple comment, completely unjustified. Thanks for the review Tiago, I was waiting for this one. 🙏💪👌😁
What I believe they're doing is similar to the diorama sets like The Trash Compactor. They're adding in, additionally, the price of the figures especially new exclusive ones into the cost of the model to inflate the retail price.
Thanks for the review, I appreciate you listing the reasons you don’t like it, instead of some mindless BS (LEGO BAD). I’m still going to grab it at some point in the near future.
Price doesn’t make sense but I’m pretty sure it’s due to the “select item” price increase Lego announced in June, it doesn’t really add up with the percentage given, and even then I think the price increase is wrong coming from a tycoon like Lego, but probably why it’s so high
The new prices although not a huge hike, are just enough to change my mind on buying certain sets, hence the price hike is likely to lose lego not much but a bit more revenue than it gains from the changes. Pandemic lockdowns are pretty much finished, i have less lego time than i did at this point in the last 2 years, bad timing for a pricehike in my mind
Seen other reviews also regarding the price. While the PPP is quite high, it's good to know that the set is also the largest with big pieces. Could say the same with the art sets. Yep the PPP is fabulous, but the bulk is just 1x1 tile... Anyways this cost a ridiculous $260 here for me. Asia countries have been paying way more than they shld over the years.
I can justify paying MSRP on model trains from the UK, as an American, instead of the MSRP on this set. I will say, the set looks good, nice detail on the figures, and good use of technic. Now, locking Omega and Fennic behind a $170 paywall is bull. Omega should’ve been included in the Marauder set, or even a speeder chase set with Civilian clothes Hunter, Fennic, and of course Omega. At this rate I rather see them make a UCS of the Marauder and include all the batch, that means Omega, and a BB Crosshair. Not an imperial Crosshair.
The price of Lego sets these days are absolutely unacceptable. Certain sets are priced way above what they really should be. It’s downright criminal honestly.
Really enjoyed the show and was bummed Omega wasn't in the first Bad Batch set. I was excited to pick her up with whatever set she was going to come in. But, price gouging this year is out of hand. I vote with my wallet.
Not to be difficult, but I am all about LEGO -- and so not about the minifigs. I have a box of them from a Craigslist bulk purchase a couple months ago, and I have no desire to use even one of them. Give me that Technic vibe any day... No tiny beards for me.
After so much discussion about this wave of Star Wars and the pricing the only conclusion I can come to is management interference and / or time constraints. It's not pure greed because other sets in this wave are actually really good value and it's not design issues because, again, the other sets are great.
I would very much love to have your opinion about the "exposed" stuff ! I'm not liking those at all. I don't think they add much to the set and from lego standards I even find it weird that it looks like that. Do you have an explanation ?
It's an expensive set but it hink it's great for getting parts to moc with. Earlier this year i got the imperial armored marauder and then i could finish my fighter jet and a helicopter.
The price is high, but Lego just spiked the price on most of their "non-low priced" sets, with a 25% spike, this would have originally gone for $130-$140. Doesn't mean its worth it at that price point, but this is going to be an issue for the foreseeable future.
I’m buying Omega and Cad Bane on Bricklink. I refuse to buy this, and I really hope other people do the same. It’s a decent build, and maybe I would be more inclined to buy it if there was a side build, but if I’m being honest with myself, I don’t even want Cad Bane’s ship. I just want Cad Bane. It wouldn’t have mattered what set they put him in, I still would have wanted it.
I assume that some manager or accountant said “we need a set to fit the $170 price point… ok that big ship will do” (or Disney said make it big) and so the poor designer had to created a bloated oversized gimmick-filled set to meet the price point? Make it smaller, drop the gimmicks and I would’ve been happy to buy this at $100 or whatever.
Justifying paying 170 for this justifier is tough... Can i just get cad bane new figure and omega, a 10- 15 peice set for like 25$??? I dont have any room on my star wars ship shelf left anyways..
For whatever reason my target had this for $150 on release day. Honestly it’s worth the 150, perhaps the 170 even. It’s actually a lot of total lego. Ignore the piece count. They are BIG pieces.
