    It would have been nice to include the three Ace line plastics and explain how the fit in with the rest quality, durability, and price wise

      Yep... The Ace-line is really only 3 additional types, for now. The special can be whatever really as well. Poor Will xD

    Y'all need to do a disc buy back from your retailers to get old stock off the shelf.
    I went into a shop fully intended on buying some Prodigy discs, but the shelves had mostly older discs with the extra sharp flashing and some were even chalking.
    The newer discs felt fine, but I wasn't going to build a bag that's half n half good and bad discs and that also put me off buying Prodigy discs online as I'm now unsure if I'll get a better newer run or an old stock 😕

    I'm actually a massive fan of the huge variation of plastics options you guys have, rather than just having the classic Champ/Star/Baseline that a lot of companies do and leaving it at that. I think that every baseline should be at minimum 3 tiers of flexibility, and I love that you have stiffness options for premiums as well. more options for feel is always better. However, calling your plastics system "easy to understand" is a bit of a stretch. The arbitrary numbering system is pretty nonsensical to begin with. No matter how many times I research it, I still can't find a consistent way to practically understand 400 vs 500 vs 750 because the opacity and stiffness varies on a run-by-run basis. Not to mention all the "extinct" plastics with the letter suffix, like 400G/S. This video is actually the first time I've ever been able to get a sufficient explanation on the plastics despite googling the heck out of it many times.

    • @ProdigyDisc
      @ProdigyDisc  Рік тому +2

      Glad you were able to find this video helpful. And understand how sometimes finding the best explanation between plastics can be difficult because the production runs can change. We wanted to keep this as simple as possible and keep it to plastics you could expect to receive today if you were to order a disc from Prodigy.
      As for 400G/S and 750G, unfortunately, because of source material availability, we are unable to keep it in regular production at the current time. We've still got some discs in those plastics on the site right now.

    I love some 400 and 500 plastic but... S-line type plastic again when?

  • @NicholasMdg
    @NicholasMdg Рік тому

    Why are 400/750 plastic discs offered in both opaque and translucent options that look and feel different? I bought d2 pros in all 4 of those options just because I was curious and they are distinct from one another even though they have the same name. Could just add an extra letter or just have them be different numbers.

    • @ProdigyDisc
      @ProdigyDisc  Рік тому

      Opacity is determined by how much tinted dye is added to the blend, which is how you can get a plastic category in different looks. As for the feel, generally speaking the opacity should not change the feel for a plastic, but different runs can have slight variations.

      I know they are listed as a 9 speed, but the FX-3, FX-4, Shadowfax, and Feedback molds get incredible distance. I don't feel like I'm missing distance potential for my driver lineup and highly recommend giving those a try!

    • @itsNRG
      @itsNRG Рік тому

      @@ATurtlePuncher I lean heavily on the FX2/FX3 for that slot. The Shadowfax was really fun to throw but I personally felt it had a lot of overlap with the FX3. The Feedback is going to be much straighter than the FX3, but once it slows down the fade will show. It's described to be a lot like a Thunderbird.

    I have never owned a prodigy disc because of the way they used to have quality issues and that is a HUGE thing for me and then more recently with the way they handled Ganon's drama. However I dyed a prodigy disc recently for someone else. The plastic was literally the most heavenly feeling plastic I've ever felt but I couldn't find any markings or information of any kind about the plastic on the disc, too bad cuz I'd probably be a customer if I knew.

    • @homecactus
      @homecactus Рік тому

      @@ProdigyDisc thanks for responding! The stamp was: "Prodigy X". The plastic was very specific feeling. It was translucent and seemed like the typical "durable" translucent plastic but the surface was unbelievably grippy, almost gummy. Though it wasn't overly flexible from what I can remember.
      Edit: it was a distance driver of some sort, looked pretty understable though I'd have had to throw it to know

      Also ofc I was joking a bit, just that it is a bit of a thing with the PA-3 mold. One throw makes it glide nicely on a beautiful turnover-line and with another throw it can be perfectly "non glidey" for distance control. Great mold!

    • @polaromonas

      1. Prodigy's is much better than Discraft's alphabet soup of plastic naming scheme: ESP, Z, Z FLX, TI, D...OMG, WTF.
      2. It's also more transparent in terms of price and durability. High number = higher price, more durable. At the same time doesn't require your chemistry knowledge to understand the 'tiers' like MVP's (Electron, Neutron, Protron, etc.)
      3. You called it cold and analytical, but it's less manipulative than something like 'Champion', 'Star', 'Supreme', Royal'

    • @michrisoft
      @michrisoft Рік тому +2

      How is that a problem? Having a disc named after an animal with a meaningless name for the plastic isn't gonna make you play the game any better.
