More than 60,000 street cleaners in southern China’s Shenzhen can enjoy a free meal once every week, thanks to a community programme called WeChat Love Meals. The project is a joint initiative by the local government, a community group, and tech giant Tencent. It aims to serve 600,000 meals by the end of 2021.

it’s sad that they didn’t feel comfortable or able to walk in and eat at one of those places before. hope it becomes more normal or acceptable in the future. everybody deserves to eat warm food in a comfortable atmosphere. kudos for this idea and to those who are participating in it and funding it.
Well, it wasn't that they were forbidden to enter before. They just didn't want to make others feel uncomfortable due to their own self-deprecating.
It gotta be the clothing that got em turns heads

@Surbhi Yadav . WeChat is doing their part for social responsibility. I think it's food.
@@naik3622 . They make money for their investors. Social responsibility is important.
They are humans earning honest income, I have a lot of respect for them. This is heartwarming and I take my hat off to the person/company/organisation that started this program. Kudos.

The difference between "social class" is the money. Everyone deserves the same level of respect. Also, street cleaners are more essential than some white-collar jobs :)
Agree, they keep our streets clean.
Couldn't agree more.
They are saving lifes by preventing infections because the streets are clean.
Before the pandemic I would always talk to the street cleaners and offer to buy them something to drink. They work so hard but are still happy and friendly, they have my respect.

Agreed, this program should be expanded all over the world.
Now the real question is, how can we contribute to make it happen?
I love when the society acknowledges hard working people who are not 'visible' and without whom would the society would be much worse. These humble people clearly don't ask for much and yet give so much in return. I hope this program becomes more widespread and benefits all the street cleaners and more!

This is the first signs of President Xi's calls for large corporations to give back to society.
See it's not so hard is it? Corporations that earns billions from society every year have a responsibility to give back to society. This way it helps the people in need as well as cultivating the society for more long term sustainable growth.
The same thoughts! There are simular situation in Russia. A lot of big corporations support sport, culture.
Ahemm...tell that to western..ahemmm
@@Alexander-rg2wb Actually its very common in central europe, the lowlands countries, and scandinavia
@Randomnamegeneratir What country are you from?
Well that giving back should be voluntarily and not forced. Some people don't like giving free and as much as it sounds rude we should respect that decision of theirs and move on. CCP is literally pressuring companies to act according to government. Recently jack maa criticized govt schemes and his company immediately got into trouble and i think he was gone into hiding or govt detained him for months. That's just sad and completely dictatorship.
I will always preach this, for China to be strong and respected it’s not how rich we are or how big our army is, when we treat the weak and the less fortunate like we treat our friends, our society is automatically 100 times better and naturally everyone around the world is proud of us.
👏👏👏
But the conflict interest are massive. Why PPL don't like Chinese? Simple, scare. You guys are competent, hard working, Sly, and have a strong sense of nationality. Also don't forget, the highest tree face the stronger wind. Its normal for us to scare of it. But still, i think its bad. Just a conflict interest, with some spice. No more no less.
+15 social credits
Same should be in all countries
Leave Taiwan and Hong Kong alone, stop interfering with Xinjiang, stop invading the South China Sea, stop denying Tiananmen Square, stop killing people you don't agree with, respect freedom of speech. No one likes you China
Hopefully they can make it a meal a day instead of once a week. The cleaners do hard work rain, hail, snow, sunshine. They deserve so much more
The way they smiled after receiving a warm meal once a week made my heart melted. They worked for hours, cleaning the street even it's hot at outside. All loves to the cleaners who made the street looks clean. 💞
No seriously, some of those places just flat out offer satisfying meals at very low prices. I go to those places to eat like every lunch. The prices are so low that it feels like free every time.
Kind of sad that even with the low prices, they are not frequented by the cleaners.
This could be due to the social stigma ( one of them mentioned about their worry because they are wearing a uniform).
Yeah food in china is pretty cheap, especially the simple everyday stuff from those hole in the wall restaurants
And they give you such big portions too
@@LittlePanda888 wear other clothes then
yes sometimes prices can be incredibly cheap , but then it will not be price factor that mainly drives those cleaners away , it is the fear for being judged upon entering them wearing uniform
These people are AMAZING. I have so much respect and admiration for their hard work and dedication. No one should be looking down on them. They work such long hours in all weather and they can’t have a warm meal? They should get one everyday FREE of charge. It would be such a small cost but look at the happiness it brings.

Without the cleaners, the city would be in a dump, the community must learn to appreciate their hard work. They contribute to the country no matter what level they are in.
this should be a normal thing where anyone can eat anywhere regardless of their field of work. Thank you for doing this
They can ear anywhere they like. The issue is they can’t afford it on a cleaners swage. Field of work has nothing to do with it.
I love when humans treat each other with kindness and respect. ☮️☯️
That's the best thing each of us can offer cause we ain't taking anything out of the world deftlady
The best measure of a person's character is how they treat those that can do nothing for him, likewise... The best measure of how civilised a society is is how it treats its underprivileged. A civilised country isn't about having the tallest skyscraper or having the most billionaire it is when everyone has the basic dignity of a human. Without these cleaners we're all living in a perpetual dumpster their contribution is way understated.
I'd say the measure of how civilised a society is, is the amount of underprivileged citizens it had. In my country, nobody would take any notice if a street cleaner was sitting next to them in a restaurant, why would they?
Errr have you seen how they treat the rural areas?
They literally have a class system for people.
