heavily agree with david on highsmith. having wing defenders is arguably the most important part of spos defense. i want u to imagine our wing defenders with both caleb and haywood gone. who’s gonna defend the wing. we have jimmy, bam and then who else. tyler? duncan? terry? niko? we literally have no one else to defend the wing

Heat needs to think ahead for the next two seasons. That should be the goal now. Whatever happens this season, this should be the last one with this specific trio. Start to shed salary. That way, they open up the cap and can attract big free agents. At the end money talks....not culture

Not only do I think we have to sign Haywood, if we don’t go out and trade for a point of attack defender, we have to START Haywood.
We have to focus on how untenable the Terry/Tyler/Duncan guard situation is. We can’t have 3 of our 5 biggest contracts be guys that all basically fill the same role and struggle to play together.
It would be one thing if it results in some high-powered offense at the expense of defense, but our offense is trash. We’re not creating any advantage, and spending a lot to do it. UNTENABLE.

I think you guys have it a little wrong. if he opted into his contract and signed the extension, then I think his cap is less and then the miami heat also can plan around that. By the time he came back, they couldn't offer him extension money and matching the contract that Philly paid would put them over the second apron. So now all they could do was offer mid-level taxpayers exception Which is like 5.6 per year. So all around complete fumbling of the bag

@shawncain882 I know his plan. It's a bad based on if they win a chip. He's going to be 34 or 35 at the end of his current contract. The chance of him as a role player getting another deal then is low. The idea of a role player chasing rings is foolish. Also if miami wanted to trade him they would have done so after last years playoff run.
For him to have gone from out of the league to 60 mil contract at 30 would have been huge and probably the best he could hope for as a professional.
Hope he is good with his money since he is going to net 10 to 12 mil at the end of his Philly deal. With bills a home and regular expenditures it's could be far less.
He's coming off two leg injuries at 30 as a role player that depends on his athleticism. And his plan is to bet on himself getting another big long term deal at 34. Check around the league at how many 34 year old role players are getting big deals. The only Two are kcp and holiday both helped multiple teams win chip while being arguably to 20 players at their position in the league. He ain't that.

Im saying what his best financial path would have been. That is easy to do. Plenty of data to pull from. He is easily giving up 20 -30 million dollar he might not ever be able to get again. He was already out of the league at one point. So if anyone would have understood maximizing your earnings while you can it should have been. Hope he does well. Statistics say he is making a mistake financially.

This team hasn't had a long off season in a looong time. There's something to be said about getting burned out physically and focusing on recovery. The two things the Heat need are health and improvement.
If the young guys improve as scheduled and if key players can be relatively healthy, this team isn't as weak as the majority of the fanbase thinks.

Just gut the team already. Pat Riley needs to retire. We need to stop running it back. There’s no quality team left to run back with. We lost all those past core players. Heat can’t sign a star to save their lives. Pat continues to sign veteran role players that addresses nothing. Just gut the team and start over.
