seems as a verry good workshop. one more approach to what he was teaching (as far as i understand him) is made of 2 principles: 1. always look for the open direction for movement. 2. deception and multiple efforts (principles of war). you take the opponent's attention down (legs) so you can open up a way to hit up (body, face) and vice versa.
I had a hard time following the thoughts of the "master" or what are they trying to achieve, as their explanations probably made sense only in their brain until I came to the same conclusion as you.
