    I just did this and it took all of about 5 minutes. 2 clamps and 2 screws to loosen. DO NOT try to remove the small hose. Once you remove the screw in the filter and loosen the air hose clamp (don't need to remove it like in this video), the air filter will lift right out when you pull it to the right. No prying involved. Do not lose the screw that you removed from the filter because you need it for the new one. 5 minutes and $50 and I saved and hour at the dealer and about $250 ($130 for the filter and the rest labor).

    The ring clamp is a 7mm or flat head screwdriver and the screw in the top of the filter is a t20 torx👍🏾

    Wow...that was easy! Great info. Took maybe 15 min after watching video a few times. Few things though. No need to remove oil cap and hoses. Filter will pop out If gently leveraged with a flathead. Needs to go to the right a bit then up and out. Thanks for posting this. Saved me $150.

    2019 Q7 v4, no smaller tube, no need to loosen the hose or oil cap.
    To remove move the filter to right with pry bar, then lift from the far side.
    To put back , put an an angle from right and then slide to left. See the bottom notches, they need to go in the slots.

    Many many many thanks for posting this. You just saved me a whole bunch of dollars!!! It took me about half an hour but next time it'll be 10min job. Total cost excluding my labor was about 40 dollars. Got a Mann filter online at a huge discount!

    The air filter for me was significantly more difficult to pull out. The hoses don't have to be removed, in fact the smaller one is really difficult and you risk damaging it. The way I finally was able to get the old filter off was by pulling from the driver side (a lot of force and wiggling) and lifting up at the same time. There is a plastic bumper on the right side that will prevent the filter from being pulled out unless you lift up while pulling. I've had various Porsches, Infinitis, Lexus' that I've enjoyed working on, I hate working on the Audi as everything on it is a nightmare.

    I do agree with Alikhan78. The key points on this video are highlighted previously (dont undo hose clamps or remove oil filler cap)! Crazy as you may allow any foregn body to disappear into the oil reservor/sump a T20 torx bit for example or your wifes stocking.The real key here is not to be afraid to apply brute force with a long shaft flat head screwdriver at 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock ( or west to east) looking from the front of the engine bay. The reason is there are some fasteners at the underside of the air filter that locate it to that flimsy plastic moulding surrounding it and secure it into the inlet and outlets at the (9 oclock side/west side). Although this a is dumb German design(god only knows wihich Wolgang invented such a poor design and which Panzer tank he rode and which WW2 he was shot down in). Fortunately there is a small flange on the 3 oclock / eastern side to the air filter- so when you fit the new filter you can lever against this with the long reach flat bed screwdriver on the eastern side/3 oclock and force the new filer into place- at best you have small indents on the palstic of the air filter. If you dont you cannot get the t20 torx screw to aligne.
    Ideally you need to employ a 6' 6" arm wrestler,. As I am only a short arse so reaching to this central position is quite a challenge.
    I have to say the hardest air filter i have ever fitted in my 61 years . Typical of VW/Audi to ensure you visit their Service Departments. If we were at War its the last thing youd want to change on the front line. Dumb design by people i thought better of.
    One last thing be careful when securing the front clips on the cover- again a poor design. If you're not careful the clips can disappear to the underside of the engine comparment. Meaning you have to take that horrible protection panel on the underside of the engine. Any way all you experts know about dropping things that dissappear. Its really difficult to find them again. A bit like mining but lots of important tubes pipes and engine in the way.
    Happy fuck ups.

    How exactly does the small hose snap off? I can't release mine.

      When I started replacing my air filter I noticed the AUDI dealership didn't connect the hose after inspection. So mine was off already, but it snapped back into place securely.

      How exactly it can be done (question about the hoses)? After the screw is removed how to take the filter out - it just seems to be stuck in there...

    • @Strop311964
      @Strop311964 3 роки тому +3

      @@ivand.8618 It just pulls out, I just did this a couple of weeks ago. Maybe put a screwdriver between the intake panel and the filter on the left to get it started but it should just lift up at the right and pull out.

    • @scottdouglaskerr
      @scottdouglaskerr 3 роки тому +2

      +2 on that one. No need to remove the hoses. After removing the screw , the filter has to be pushed right - by hand or using flat screwdriver as a lever. There are four guides/rails underneath the filter - those are keeping it from coming up. Filter will not come off unless pushed right 1/4” to 1/2”. You will also want to suck or blow out any debris/dust/sand while you are in there - with the intake blocked off with a shop rag.

      Dealer says 60k miles, I changed mine at 23k miles and it is already quite dirty. Hard part for me is to reinstall the t25 back to the hole, I had to push it with some force directly from driver side.

      @bennyragz 2 роки тому

      Id stay as far away from parts geek as possible. They have a tendency to send same brand name, same fit, just the cheaper version of the one you ordered. They told me "well it is a Mann air filter that fits your car". Only problem is the one I ordered cost $45. The one they sent me cost $10. This happened on numerous items in my order and on 2 separate occasions. Would not recommend using them.

    Why did you remove the hoses? That’s Not necessary. Top screw and a little effort. That all.

    I always think it’s so funny when people own luxury cars,that cost more than some peoples houses, complain about service costs if you wanted cheap service by a reliable car with cheap parts like a Honda or a Toyota.
