- Celia Umenza is one of the highest-ranking members of an Indigenous civilian defence force in the dangerous Cauca region.
Colombia has become one of the world’s deadliest places for land rights defenders since a power vacuum emerged after the government signed a historic peace agreement with FARC rebels.
Now a grandmother, Celia longs to rebuild her troubled relationship with her family. But violence has returned to the area.
When a close comrade is assassinated, Celia is forced to mobilise her community as the Indigenous guard prepares for retaliation.

Im adopted from Colombia. I dont know much about🇨🇴, but what I see hand hear is big conflicts and pain. I’ve been visiting ones, and I just love everything about it. Good, people, food, the nature!!! To see these beautiful strong stubborn people, remains me where I’m coming from ❤. I just feel the love for my country running threw my veins. I shall learn so mutch more about it. I wish these people all the best, huge love, and respect. All love to the indigenous people, those are the one who fight for the people, You don’t deserve nothing els but love, land and freedom ❤!

As a Colombian who supports indigenous rights and the conservation of our beautiful and important Amazonian rainforest, this documentary is deeply upsetting. These tribes are disenfranchised, given zero resources, or attention by the government, except to persecute them; they are murdered for the profit of the logging companies and those Colombians who support them. Those of us who do support them are impotent to defend them, as always happens in the face of corrupt multinational companies.
