You know, I once used to enjoy McD fast food. Not to the point of going there regularly, but it had its own unique flavour, which I did like to taste, from time to time.
And then, when we were in Uni, me and my friend, we went to this burger shop - it wasn't a chain restaurant, it was some no-name, tiny bar, by a tiny street... You had to know it was there, in order to find it. No huge ads, no crazy signs...
That was the first time I ate a burger that tasted like actual _meat._
Juicy meat, strips of bacon, lots of onions, so much ketchup, that it was spilling over... Not only that, but it was... I want to say, 15cm (6 in.) in diameter... AND, the bar was running a point card system, so for every 14 burgers, you'd get one for free. All of that for roughly the same price as a set at McD.
The shop closed after a few months, but ever since I went there, I can't help but feel like all the McD burgers taste like paper. Now I avoid the chain fast food restaurants like the plague, and only ever go for McD if there's _literally_ nothing else open nearby, and I am so hungry I am not able to wait for something to open, or to get back home.
_This_ is the problem.
You are gorging yourself on a sub-par product, a cheap slop, which you _think_ is tasty... Because you have nothing to compare it to.
Meanwhile, if you _did_ take your time and got one of those premium burgers, coming from some no-name shop in the middle of nowhere... You'd feel so deeply satisfied with their quality, you wouldn't be able to go back to the old thing.
That's one great analogy! Just a shame the people it's aimed at won't understand.. 😕
