    I am watching, 😁🖐 I brought pop corn 🍿.
That's a very interesting video, really. Maybe because I'm currently working on it 😁 I have found many books talking about it. Shall I quote one only, Pym who says: translators are responsible for the probable effects of their translations....
I understand the thought when you had a bad translation, however....that is a heavy weight upon one's shoulders. Maybe because I am quite new and naive but even...
What if you translate a text that becomes controversial afterwards. When reading it it didn't seem that bad but it becomes problematic later. I'm not saying "not guilty" but it would be hard to be judge guilty for the author's words. For me you would be guilty having made bad choice.
I really like your word for us: gateway, I need to put this on the fridge 🤔
Very important subject Adrian when we know that in today's world the controversies are popping up like mushrooms 🍄 🍄🍄🍄🍄

What is something you would never want to work on?

Interesting question, maybe we need this question today and in 10 years time 🙂🙃
Today I would say: texts that are harsh to people in particular (harmful), pro life movement probably, I would be careful around religion as well. It's hard to tell when you are not confronted with the job yet.

I would never work on something like the pro choice movement. It's disgusting how people can support murdering unborn babies and supporting a irresponsible life style while thinking they are good people.

    Another incredible video, Adrian.
I have a request if you don't mind.
Could you please do a specialized episode on Commercial Translation? (i.e business contracts, papers between companies, etc.).
I would be highly grateful for that since I hold a Degree in business administration, but I am relatively new translating in this field, so it would be nice to have experts talking about this topic with things like standards of practice, ethics, to what extent does a commercial translation becomes a legal one, among other things.
Thanks a lot for uploading these videos. A hug from your colleague 🤗.

Hi Jorge! thanks so much for the positive review! :) Yes, a Specialized episode on Business is definitely planned. I'm currently setting up the next one which will be game localization, but at some point this year I will definitely do business, thanks for the hint!

I once translated a presentation for a website (similar to Twitch), that promoted people live streaming their day-to-day lives all day long (and getting money for it, based on subscriptions). It was not much of an ethical issue personally, but it really made me sad (in regards to our society in general...). Anyone can join it, and there are certain rules, but still...

religion in my country is a huge thing. and as a translator, I do believe that sometimes some things get lost in translation, so I turn down translating any religious books and texts of any religion, because it's an insanely huge responsibility especially in a Muslim country like mine.

Hi Miriam, you're absolutely right. And even within the same religion there are so many different interpretations. I definitely don't envy religious content translator, that seems to be a very tough job
