HI This a nice server for playing with in the weekend. It is not worth much $100-200 and it's way to expensive to run 24/7, but it's a lot of good hardware for the money. Thank you for watching! :-)
Hi Kanon gdl There is a follow up to that video,,, "Update to "IBM x3650 M4 upgrade CPU" video - 087" ua-cam.com/video/elFJwZXEbpY/v-deo.html Check out more of my sever videos, there are over 40 Thank you for watching! :-)
Hi +PixelSlayer 1 All the servers in that rack is grounded and the Rack is grounded, this server is still grounded through the rack and the other servers. and i do also touch the metal casing of the server,, the grounding is not that important, as long as i am not able to build up a charge compared to the server. Had this server been on a table with out any grounding, i would still unplug it,,much bigger chance of errors on interchangeable parts with power on, than from static electricity. But always touch metal before touching the electronics. Thank you for watching! :-)
Hello Morten. How can we get this server to run Memory at 1333 MHz speed? We have tested both DDR3-10600 and DDR3-12800 modules. Corresponding to the BIOS summary the server always runs only at 1066 MHz. We got 1 CPU and plugged only 2 modules per Channel. The installation sequence from the manual was used.
Hi s0lution We are talking the x3650 M4 I assume. The two smallest CPU's in the Intel Xeon E5-2600 V1 series will only do a FSB of 1066MHz,,, But even the E5-2620 is up at 1333MHz. There is also a places in bios to tell the server to run slower FSB. Thank you for watching! :-)
Hi Morten Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I have been struggling to download the correct VMware. Can you send me the correct name of the OS I should download because from your video I cannot see properly the full name. Is there a possibility that you can upload the OS somewhere so that I can download it. Best regards, Maurice
Hi +Maurice James You just need to download the newest version of VM-ware 6.0.0,, it´s free,, but you need to make an account at VM-ware,,that is also free. thi is the filename "VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.0.0.update01-3029758.x86_64" here is the link: my.vmware.com/group/vmware/evalcenter?p=free-esxi6 Thank you for watching! :-)
Hi, thank you for the video but i have a problem mouse is not detected, ive tried with 3 different mouses all same, not working and can you tell me how to format existing drive via BIOS right now i'm using Citrix Xen Server OS maybe you can help me with these issue thank you 🙏
I have not had problems with mouse,,, my KVM mouse is weird when I use the storage configurator,, but changing to an USB mouse has always worked for me.
Hi +Harryo Yes I do,, and it is also very clearly in the "about" tab on my UA-cam channel :-) So are you i see in your about tab :-) I see you are making gaming videos,,,tough competition! Thank you for watching! :-)
Hi Harryo Well you are in luck,, i do a lot of server videos, mostly from my home datacenter. I have a really good job, and is happy with it, but for security reasons, I keep it to myself. (tro mig der er nogle onde trolde her på UA-cam) Thank you for watching! :-)
Hi Piotr Jurkowski Thank You very much! If you need BIG blocks of ram like 32GB only LRDIMM is available. I have never used HyperCloud DIMM. So from my point of view,, RDIMM is the best. Thank you for watching! :-)
I've got an erros after installing two CPUs. The error shows "Error occurs on QPI Initialization". What is it trying to tell me? This is the IBM X3650 M4, 2 CPUs : Xeon E5-2680, 96GB on the 1st CPU, and 54GB on the 2nd.
Hi Ved Llun First,, your are sure you did not go and buy a version v2 or v3,, like i did,, and you have updadet to a newere firmware. I would take the memory out and distribute it evenly,, according to the plan on the lid of the server. I am curious on what the solution is, please write when you get wiser on what the problem is. Thank you for watching! :-)
Hi Callum Gourlay If you want a cheap good server to play with. I made a video talking about that : ua-cam.com/video/p2lGufUYIZw/v-deo.html But if you want a 24/7 server that has to stay in your room under your bed :-) maybe go more this way : ua-cam.com/video/TqoazLMZNXY/v-deo.html Thank you for watching! :-)
My PlayHouse thank you for your help it will be going in the server rack in my studio in my room so I will be wanting a quieter one as I do audio production but also love computers server and lots of stuff like that thank you for your help and the great content
Another question I am looking for a server rack. But to ensure i can fit my IBM bladeserver in it. How should the size be in depth x width ? Thanks in advance Kind regards Jon
Thanks for the prompt reply. If server is already loaded with 6 core cpu and i want to downgrade to quad core cpu for licencing issue. Will my windows 2008 r2 will have any issues booting or detecting different cpu.
while Ram updation ,if OS Corruption is possible? for your reference, in my side im holding x3650 m3 in one processor is active as 4*4 GB Ram. now i got great task at work, for active the another processor, that time existing OS corruption is possible ? any one can this answer here?
Do you guys think a x3530 1U M4 is worth buying for 140 usd?. A place here is selling them brand new for that price without CPU, without RAM. Includes one PSU and one Heatsink :).

Hi +Ebrah Him I do prefer to keep communication here on UA-cam,, i do read and reply to all of you. If you have a business proposal for me, there is a thing for that in the "about tab",, otherwise use UA-cam :-) Thank you for watching! :-)
Hi 666karamba It is not a critical server,, this is a test server to deployment of software packages and the discs are set up in a RAID0 so there are no safety at all. The system owner is aware of the danger. But is there any particular reason why that it is a poor choice of discs?? The Server and the Rack's are thoroughly grounded. I make sure to touch the server's metal, to remove any static build-up´s in me. And the air in the data center is under control so it does not become too dry and tends to static shock. Sometimes I also use a grounded bracelet. Thank you for watching! :-)
Ran into this problem myself and found the following to resolve it. HI
This a nice server for playing with in the weekend. It is not worth much $100-200 and it's way to expensive to run 24/7, but it's a lot of good hardware for the money.
Thank you for watching! :-)
I find it amazing that some admins don't wear ear protection in server rooms
Yes in the long run it's great to use ear protection. I have showed how cool and useful active noise cancellation in the Data Center.
During the CPU upgrade (21:22), why dind't use the thernal paste? Is not indicate?
Renato Martini the heatsink come with the paste on it
nice tool box. what is the name of that?
Hi Russel Lequigan
Thank You very much! what tool box ? where in the video?
Thank you for watching! :-)
how di you solve the problem with the second CPU?
i couldn't watch it on the video, did you upgrade de BIOS version?
thanks.
Hi Kanon gdl
There is a follow up to that video,,, "Update to "IBM x3650 M4 upgrade CPU" video - 087"

If you unplug de power cabel
De anti statick string do Not work
Hi +PixelSlayer 1
All the servers in that rack is grounded and the Rack is grounded, this server is still grounded through the rack and the other servers. and i do also touch the metal casing of the server,, the grounding is not that important, as long as i am not able to build up a charge compared to the server.
Had this server been on a table with out any grounding, i would still unplug it,,much bigger chance of errors on interchangeable parts with power on, than from static electricity. But always touch metal before touching the electronics.
Thank you for watching! :-)
Great job, thanks,,
Hi Bert Crane
Thank You very much!
Thank you for watching! :-)
Are there any POWER servers in there?
Hi douro20
There are a few.

Hi s0lution
We are talking the x3650 M4 I assume.
The two smallest CPU's in the Intel Xeon E5-2600 V1 series will only do a FSB of 1066MHz,,, But even the E5-2620 is up at 1333MHz.
There is also a places in bios to tell the server to run slower FSB.
Thank you for watching! :-)
@@MyPlayHouse Thank you so far. I will check the CPU type tomorrow.
Our CPU is a Intel Xeon E5-2609 and indeed this one uses only 1066 MHz. 😭
Hi Morten
Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I have been struggling to download the correct VMware. Can you send me the correct name of the OS I should download because from your video I cannot see properly the full name. Is there a possibility that you can upload the OS somewhere so that I can download it.
Best regards, Maurice
Hi +Maurice James
You just need to download the newest version of VM-ware 6.0.0,, it´s free,, but you need to make an account at VM-ware,,that is also free.
thi is the filename "VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.0.0.update01-3029758.x86_64"
here is the link: my.vmware.com/group/vmware/evalcenter?p=free-esxi6

and can you tell me how to format existing drive via BIOS
right now i'm using Citrix Xen Server OS
maybe you can help me with these issue
thank you 🙏
I have not had problems with mouse,,, my KVM mouse is weird when I use the storage configurator,, but changing to an USB mouse has always worked for me.
@@MyPlayHouse OK, nice, thanks 👍🏻
hope you find one that works for you!! :-)
Kroner, do you live in Denmark?
Hi +Harryo
Yes I do,, and it is also very clearly in the "about" tab on my UA-cam channel :-) So are you i see in your about tab :-)
I see you are making gaming videos,,,tough competition!
Thank you for watching! :-)
Yeh I game sometimes, but mostly I'm intrested in serveers.
Where do you work?
Hi Harryo
Well you are in luck,, i do a lot of server videos, mostly from my home datacenter.
I have a really good job, and is happy with it, but for security reasons, I keep it to myself.
(tro mig der er nogle onde trolde her på UA-cam)

Hi! Samsung Evo are not very good choice for servers. Try PRO version.
Evo has some problems with firmware. Just saing.
PS. Good videos! :)
Hi Morten
Can I use this OS: VMware-ESXi-6.0.0-2494585-LNV-20150420
I could not download your suggested one. Best regards Maurice
Hi +Maurice James
Yes i am sure it is just as good..
Hi. Which RAM RDIMM/LRDIMM/HyperCloud DIMM will be the best?
Hi Piotr Jurkowski
Thank You very much! If you need BIG blocks of ram like 32GB only LRDIMM is available. I have never used HyperCloud DIMM. So from my point of view,, RDIMM is the best.
Thank you for watching! :-)
p/n 46W0767 (32 GB) HyperCloud DIMM
I've got an erros after installing two CPUs. The error shows "Error occurs on QPI Initialization". What is it trying to tell me?
This is the IBM X3650 M4, 2 CPUs : Xeon E5-2680, 96GB on the 1st CPU, and 54GB on the 2nd.
Hi Ved Llun
First,, your are sure you did not go and buy a version v2 or v3,, like i did,, and you have updadet to a newere firmware.
I would take the memory out and distribute it evenly,, according to the plan on the lid of the server.
I am curious on what the solution is, please write when you get wiser on what the problem is.
Thank you for watching! :-)
What kind of server would you recommend for me to start home virtualisation
Hi Callum Gourlay
If you want a cheap good server to play with. I made a video talking about that : ua-cam.com/video/p2lGufUYIZw/v-deo.html
But if you want a 24/7 server that has to stay in your room under your bed :-) maybe go more this way : ua-cam.com/video/TqoazLMZNXY/v-deo.html

My PlayHouse thank you for your help it will be going in the server rack in my studio in my room so I will be wanting a quieter one as I do audio production but also love computers server and lots of stuff like that thank you for your help and the great content
Hello, it does not detect the hard drives - slots
Hi
I check the power to the the bays,, and check SAS cables. and make sure it is fully firmware patched.

Another question
I am looking for a server rack. But to ensure i can fit my IBM bladeserver in it. How should the size be in depth x width ?
Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Jon
HI
Check the depth on your blade center,,, measure if needed :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
where is the second riser?
Hi Thisara Bhanuka
You do not always need the second riser. and if you only use one CPU,, you can't use the second riser.

I had the same mismatched cpu problem with my Dell Workstation - it's a major P.I.T.A.
Hope you got it fixed;-/
Yeah I got it sorted and also memory maxed out too.
Do you guys think a x3530 1U M4 is worth buying for 140 usd?. A place here is selling them brand new for that price without CPU, without RAM. Includes one PSU and one Heatsink :).
Hi Jasonsadventures
Let me answer this way,, I´d get more than one! But I also just crazy about System X hardware :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
Tomorrow I'll offer them 130 usd and see if they take it :), they have lots of them and haven't sold one yet.

very bad choice of drivers for server. also ground yourself while servicing those~!
drivers=drives
Hi 666karamba
It is not a critical server,, this is a test server to deployment of software packages and the discs are set up in a RAID0 so there are no safety at all.
