I feel like Nintendo could have done better with spirit tracks story. Other than that, it's an amazing game. I emulated it, upscaled it, fullscreened it, installed a ROM hack that allowed me to use dpad controls and then I mapped the dpad to WASD on my keyboard. It was amazing. One of the best Zelda experiences ever

I also haven’t played too much 2D/Topdown Zelda games but recently I decided I’m playing Minish Cap cuz I barely played my first file I started a long time ago! I’ve heard positive things about it so here goes!
If you don’t like using stylus touch controls, there’s a rom hack that lets you move link with normal d-pad controls, attack with the b button, and roll with a. It also doesn’t interfere with the normal stylus controls, so you can play the old way still too. IMO it’s the definitive way to play the game, it made movement so much nicer!! And I really liked having the option of using both control schemes.
I was lucky that my father found a wii U in good condition with the disk of TOZ wind waker in a house trash near to his job. I had a good time with that game
This was my first ever Zelda game and my first ever DS game! I love this title, minish cap, wind waker, and phantom hourglass are my favourites. The manga was good too! I could never beat the game due to my mic on my DS breaking, I was on that wind level? You have to blow into the mic in order to progress but it never responded. I still have it, and I really want to play it again. Thank you for reminding me of it
So a year ago i said i only played two dungeons and basically said i wasn't very fond of it. About a month or two after i made that comment i gave the game another shot, and actually beat it. So here are my thoughts now. When i got past the part of the game that originally stumped me (which was also the reason i put the game down so early) i did not stop playing the game. I started somewhere from late morning to afternoon, and i played it the rest of the day and did not stop for sleep, no, i went on all night and all of the next day too. By the time i was finished i couldnt help but appreciate how it managed to keep me interested despite how simple it is, but i think that simplicity is also why i loved it so much. It really manages to keep a unique experience while also being easy to play without stopping. The dungeons, while not large or complicated, are still like all other things part of the experience. And while the first couple hours were pretty linear and boring, after that it's a pure joy till the end. The fact that it seemingly does nothing special is what makes this game so special. I hope that makes sense. Phantom Hourglass may not be my favorite Zelda game (or even my favorite top down Zelda game) but it is one i can respect for the experience it gave me.

I’ve known about this for a long time. If I remember correctly, all the toon link games are: Winder Waker, Phantom Hourglass, Minishcap (i think), Spirit Tracks, and Triforce Heroes.
It's been over a decade since i played Phantom Hourglass but I remember being disappointed with it because of how much I loved Windwaker. I probably wanted more than what the DS could offer.
This game got me through a really tough time. And I can never thank it enough for that. The main theme of this game brings me such happiness. Love you Phantom Hourglass
People who constantly associate wind waker with twilight princess confuse me to no end twilight princess isn’t a wind waker sequel but phantom hourglass on the other hand literally is
for me, phantom hourglass fixed a lot of the problems that the wind waker had for me (great sea exploration, dungeon design) so when i played this game, yeah. i like it a lot

Yeah, the game definitely felt as if it were created to show off all of the DS' functions, such as the touchscreen, mic, top and bottom screen, and various other mechanics. The game seems to really focus on all of the elements, whilst also trying to keep it's cartoony charm.
If you can't get over the DS graphics, do it for Him!! Linebeck my love, ahhh the legendary swashbuckling lad... Even after all these years, I still dream for a reimagine/remake of Phantom Hourglass⌛ in OG 3D Windwaker style... The Uncharted Seas, the Ghost Ship, the OceanKing and the Phantoms are all really intriguing.
Phantom Hourglass was my second Zelda game after Link to the Past, and I loved it. Until last year, those were the only two Zelda games I had played. But my uncle let me play the other games he has: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess (which is my favorite game), and Breath of the Wild. But now he also has Tears of the Kingdom.
Recently got both phantom Hourglass and Spirit tracks on Wii U before the eshop shut down. One of my best investments ever. No battle mode is a bit sad, but I'll get the physical version some day, that's for sure. For now though it's more than enough. I'm almost done with phantom hourglass, just before the final run through the temple of the ocean king. I have the sword, the fairies (though sadly not yet maxed out) and I might actually go there today, who knows? I also played Spirit tracks once a pretty long while back, but i don't remember anything. My brother who lent it from a friend back then has now lost it, and like... That sucks. But i got it on wii U now and I'll start it back up right away the moment i get done with phantom hourglass. Also, anyone else love the new heart systems? FINALLY no more pieces of heart! I've had this problem eversince i started playing these games. Pieces of heart feel worthless, boring, and like only when finding four of them loosely scattered around the world, you actually get anything. And in this game, ironically exactly like in the original zelda on NES, no more. Everyone just gives, sells, or, well, the ones you find as well, you heart containers. It feels so good. Complete the bow minigame? Heart container. Beat the link copycat on the prince of red lions? Heart Container. That shit feels GOOD.

There is a mod available for Pantom and Spirit that makes it compatible for analogu sticks instead of touch screen, so that you can play with a controller for emulators and such.

The ds Zelda's are kind of an acquired taste. I beat them both, and loved them so much. Spirit tracks is probably my favorite of the two though, because it took the things I didn't like from phantom hourglass, and improved upon them. It also gave Zelda more character development than "I am girl. you saved me so now I do magic"
There should be a young link Zelda game with the same art style but with the cooking and breakable weapons and shields. Also have the same game over jingle as windwaker.
Yup! The adult timeline is a trilogy! Phantom hourglass is hero of the wind's second adventure and The new Hyrule in spirit tracks is the future adventure of it. Tetra is the founder and had ALL guards of the kingdom dress as toon link! And one of tetra's swabbies, niko is still alive in that game! He aged! Also Linebeck is the real star of PH!
I literally just beat this game yesterday. I only played it initially because as a fan of the series I felt I had to. I went into it expecting to kinda hate it, but I had a thoroughly enjoyable experience
If you haven’t played much 2d Zelda’s you have to try out a link to the past and then a link between worlds. A link to the past is where all 2d and even 3D Zelda’s really originated and a link between worlds is a great almost reboot or retelling of a link to the past. The two best 2d Zelda’s ever in my opinion
I just picked up a copy of P.H. about a week ago, already have 19 power gems, 17 courage gems and 16 wisdom gems…I’ve had this game 2 other times. I cannot for the life of me find all 60.
I’m currently playing WW for the first time it’s so good I’m definitely gonna have to play phantom hourglass after for sure after seeing this all I have left is Twilight Princess, four swords, the minish cap and phantom hourglass and I’ll have finally completed the whole series! TP and WW are the 2 I missed growing up even though I had a GameCube. I’ve been stuck on WW for the last 3 days if not for work I probably would have already beaten it.
I got this game a few years ago and I totally hate myself for not getting it when it first came out! I wanted to try the demo at my GameStop at the time but the guy there said it was right handed only. I had no idea there was an initial option for left handed controls. Because of that I let both phantom and spirit through my fingers! The copy I got from eBay is a little sus so I’m gonna try and double dip for a legit copy rather than a rehashed used ‘new’ copy
I remember wanting Phantom Hourglass! And I ended up getting it. To unfortunately have the game corrupted since my little brother at the time, threw my DS Lite at a door with the game inside of it. And now whenever I try to play it, I can't get pass this one part. No matter what I do. I was so sad, because I really wanted to play this game so much as a kid. I might still have it but it's completely useless and will have to get a new game.
I broke my right hand once and couldn’t do anything couldn’t draw or play my switch but I’m left handed and Phantom hour glass only needs one hand to play! It was the best medicine ever

I’m glad someone likes it. I’ve always wanted to love Phantom Hourglass, there’s definitely a lot of personality in the game and its characters but I just never could. It always disappointed me given how much I love Wind Waker, this just always felt like a really disappointing sequel. I think Spirit Tracks is the superior game and doesn’t deserve to be lumped alongside Phantom Hourglass, but I understand the reasons people like and dislike both games and it’s refreshing to see someone singing this game’s praises.

I think Spirit Tracks is the superior game and doesn’t deserve to be lumped alongside Phantom Hourglass, but I understand the reasons people like and dislike both games and it’s refreshing to see someone singing this game’s praises.
I played both of these simultaneously, what I loved about PH was the multiplayer mode which was fun af to play with friends
