@@lizpedano1542 there's lots of similarity: the Ukrainian civilians had been in the Russia's occupied territories for half a year or so. So, when the Nazis withdrew a bit back, the liberated civilians naturally greeted the Ukrainian army as Salvator Mundi. The Russians are still strong though

I believe that Ukraine has more than earned an invitation to join NATO! Am I the only one who feels the same way??🤔 A disabled US Army Veteran
For NATO not to directly intervened as conveyed by the alliance leaders I respect that and it brought out the motivation in the fighting spirit and Morales of the Ukrainian people and fight against alienation, being cut off from the world, Ukraine need an official NATO membership invitation. So they should hold a referendum on joining NATO or not in Ukraine, another blow to Putin too.
Thank you for our service sir. I agree, but am 100% of UA decent and am biased ( USArmy1985-1989) . Hope the world sees that russians cannot, I repeat cannot ever be trusted. So yes NATO is key to Ukraine's future survival. KEY!
Nato yes but not EU membership because of mass corruption. But we should help rebuild the country and try boosting their economy.
When Ukraine wins the war and when Putin is deposed, then yes. That will be the perfect timing.

Very much in the way it is clear who is on the side of goodness, freedom and honest concern for your fellow man in the United States.
Hint: it isn't the MAGA morons.
One thing Joe Biden and Democrats don't have to worry about is being accused of trying to make America great again.
Facts.
NATO (incl. all members) should publish a joint 3-point declaration: (1.) NATO and members will never, under any circumstances, be the first to use nuclear weapons; (2.) Russia will be held responsible for any use of nuclear weapons anywhere in Europe -- Putin's predictable denials of responsibility will neither be listened to nor replied to; and (3.) as to each use of a nuclear weapon or weapons, NATO will answer with a tenfold, 10 kilotons for each kiloton, response against Russian interests located anywhere -- time, place and kilotonnage (within the tenfold limit) to be chosen by NATO to maximize destruction of Russian military capabilities, and 10 kilotons-for-one response ratio to be sustained as long as any Russian nuke explodes anywhere in Europe (or North America). The declaration should state that the ten-kilotons-for-one may all be delivered in Red Square (around which various command-and-control assets of the Russian military are located), or they may be distributed among 20 or 30 Russian military or naval units, in Ukraine or elsewhere.
The reason the U.S. didn't make a "no first use" pledge decades ago was fear that only tactical nukes could stop a Red Army juggernaut from sweeping across Western Europe. Now we know that Russian conventional forces are a paper tiger (tissue paper at that), so there's no reason not to make the no-first-use pledge.
The declaration should make it plain that anti-personnel use of NATO nukes will be a priority option. At the same time efforts are made to make sure Russian soldiers learn full details of the NATO declaration, agitators should be encouraging Russian soldiers to form a Soviet of Soldiers' Deputies.
Meanwhile 2 American and 1 British crack divisions (plus units from France, Germany and/or Poland) should be moved near the borders in (each of) southern Finland and northern Estonia. While these forces should stay 1 mile back from the border and refrain from provocative demonstrations, NATO should issue a proclamation stating that, since Putin has declared the intention of reclaiming all territory ever ruled by a Muscovite Tsar, other regional powers are considering reclaiming all territory seized by a Muscovite Tsar, with an appendix addressing such issues as population exchange and transhipment of Muscovite cultural items (the contents of the State Hermitage Museum, for example, or the equestriate statue of Peter the Great) in the event the Leningrad/St. Petersburg territory is restored to its pre-Petrine owner or owners.
NATO powers should use their most advanced cyber-warfare assets to ensure the widespread availability of the NATO declaration and proclamation within Russia. If any quiet channels to Russian military leadership remain open, assurances should be given that all these hostile initiatives will be halted on a dime (except for the Soviet, of which we might soon lose control) as soon as (1.) Putin is deposed and arrested; and (2.) all Russian forces are withdrawn from any part of Ukraine, including Crimea.
Finally, since the Russian Federation has been calling on Russian-identified residents of other countries to return to Mother Russia both because of the great opportunities there and to avoid imminent persecution, states with such potential fifth-column populations should be helping Russia by amplifying that message and encouraging emigration.
Frankly, I do not feel the refusal to be the first to use nuclear weapons applies to Russia now that they have taken over the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant and have "mishandled" it so badly. Putin's intent is clear, and that should've been considered a "first move".
Putin needs to be neutralized by NATO. It is ridiculous to wait until after he has unleashed his first nuke on Ukraine. He has made his intent clear. Thousands of Ukrainian citizens and soldiers have already died - no more Ukrainian blood shed.
The only way to have peace is for NATO to take away any ability Russia has to use/make nuclear (or any military) weapons, and imprison Putin. Dissolve its military. Russia has shown over this last century that it is not capable of forming it's own government that its own citizens can survive in. It needs to be occupied the same way Germany and Japan were after WW II.
2:33 I love how she says "Donetsk". She really did speak with people there. Good ear. And balls of steel for being there, near what sounded like a very close call for getting shelled! I've got mad respect for wartime correspondents. An accurate account of what's going on is extremely important instead of falling prey to soviet propaganda. Maybe this way people in russia will begin to see and (hopefully) do something about it. Change has to come from within.

That’s why we are including more inclusive messaging in our recruiting efforts, our Armed Forces are for every American physically capable to join regardless of unimportant details of who they are.
@@oldworldpatriot8920 Gen-z doesn't want to fight for corporations??? Goddamned kids
My congratulations to the Ukraine people for kicking Russias ass. The lesson to be learned is that a small but motivated army can beat a much larger and better equipped but unmotivated force. Keep up the good work and drive the barbarians from your gate.

I hope all of these are true & it continues.
When you have conscripts that are unmotivated because they font want to fight Ukrainians because they look at them as their brothers I can see that even the biggest military force crumbles and just want to leave home
The US learned the same lesson in Vietnam. You can’t force a bunch of kids to fight for something they don’t believe in, especially when their opponents are fighting for something they do believe in (their homeland).
But Putin promised he wouldn’t use conscripts in the -invasion- special military operation!
The Russians in Ukraine are volunteers not conscripts. These are supposedly their best men. They are not allowed to deploy the conscripts abroad.

As a Canadian, I am embarrassed that we have still not provided the best Air defense possibly for Ukraine, in this instance, Karkiv. This city is close to the border and should have had, patriot, Sam's, and C-RAMs. Ridicules that the western world has failed to get this in place after 6 plus months, and now the people face fall and winter with no power because we allowed Putin to severely damage critical infrastructure. Pathetic.

In reality, only the USA and Poland are putting their best foot forward. We could have, and should, do far better.

Russia will use what it has, even if its long range and indiscriminate, to try and break the will of Ukraine. When you don't have a strategy and can't motivate your troops you will lose like Russia is doing now.
Projection.
Remember what Putin helped Assad do in Syria: reduce resisting cities to rubble, make the lives of their inhabitants an intolerable hell of unimaginable suffering, until they simply give up resisting. I think he has tried to do something similar in places like Kharkiv (and of course in Bucha and environs before he was kicked out). So far it hasn’t been quite as effective.

Those Ukraine soldiers are wearing very good uniforms and essential associated equipment - more NATO like than anything the Russians can field. Add in the modern western vehicles, NATO intel and heavy artillery and Russian forces are outmatched big time. This will really impact moral on both sides. Certainly not a turning point but it is an extreme example of how good Ukraine's army can be when properly supported. This shows that just heavy equipment does not win battles alone but well equipped, highly motivated troops will always decide the outcome.

@Kyle Kyle changing the subject......dishonest
they have a permanent seat on the council in UN. similar problem, but not the same(russia is dealing out way more warcrimes) is with the us on the council. they blocked many things that could have targetet George W. Bush and the now dead hag queen of England for their nations warcrimes in irak... .
Nations on that council can do anything. A nation has to loose a war by far, so the leader gets procecuted. otherwhise they dont get charged whatever happend, or was George W. Bush or the Queen of England, or at least Tony Blair before a judge in Den Haag, nope, they won their warcrime war. So even if russia draws back, like Biden(is a warcriminal since Irak too, he pushed the agenda to go to war many times in his carrer under Obama) did in Afghanistan, the judges will do nothing neither to western leaders, nor to eastern.
And white phosphorus, and cluster munitions... then there is the terror we don't see, like the torture chambers of Kherson. Just wait till it gets liberated and people start talking. Everyone of us will need a vomiting bag.

What a great success to Ukraine to liberate key cities from the Russian invaders you are worth more than gold Ukraine soldiers keep up the liberation of all your cities. Glorious Ukraine and her soldiers.
Poor civilians!
This retired General mentioned "...careful not to overextend..."; another General says "...a retreating army has to be pursued..." (reminds me of the Union Army after Gettysburg not chasing Lee's army). The Ukrainians may not have the number of troops to chase. We'll see what happens. Ah yes, this General should complete his thoughts more thoroughly.
Hopefully running the Russians out of Ukraine will do enough damage to Putin that the military won’t return
You are right. Ukraine has a 2000 km of border and front line with enemies. It is a distance like from New York to Dallas TX. And we have 5 times less number of people than Russia. Fighting smart is the only option Ukrainians have at the moment. However, it would not be possible without help from the US, Great Britain and Europe. And, believe me, Ukrainians value it a lot.
They're both right. Chase as far as you can, within the limit of your supply lines. There was one report that Ukrainians already did that once, moving so fast, their supplies couldn't keep up. But they worked it out.
Ukraine has 1 million soldiers under arms and when the battle for the Donna's is fought you will see Ukrainian Fighter pilots fly F-15's and F-16's with more himars inroute
@@PeterLawton It's not only supply, but military intelligence, communication, and planning. Local sources say that russians fled too fast and too far, that things went out of the control from third day of operation. Ukranian forces moved to Svatove, but had to retreat as it was not enough information to make decisions. As for now, it is clear that the new plan is to free Lyman and Lysychansk, where the main Russian forces are located. And it won't be fast.
As a European i'm just worried about the Russian response to the Ukriane's gains......
They alredy respond with taking out the power in entire country

@@club4ghz False! 4 regions, 100% of which already restored. But yeah - such a terrorist attacks could continue... unless we fire a them back 👌
The general is one smart cookie!
It seems that the Russian brutality in their conquered and occupied territories will turn the significant number of Russian sympathizers ( especially in the east ) against Russia. Any attempt by Russia to hold on to these territories, which might have had some degree of popularity, would now face unrelenting opposition from the vast majority.
In the Crimea, where there was not inconsiderable genuine support for Russia, would be influenced by the awful behavior of the Russians. They won't want to believe the reports, but over time, as the evidence mounts, it would have to be bad for support of Russia.
I think that a peace resolution would have to leave the Crimea under Russian control, but it would be with compromised local support. Even with the retention of Crimea, this adventure will have proved to be a catastrophe for Russia.
Just Finland and Sweden joining NATO is a catastrophe in itself. The appalling performance of the Russian military is a shock to everybody. Putin is still popular, but this fiasco will show his strutting hyper masculinity to be just bravado.

I think ,at this point, Ukraine must keep an Eye open on the Odessa reggion...ruttians will make theyre move...Slava Ukraine..
Except that the Russians have run very short of long range missiles. And ships.
It's hard for me to imagine Russia making any progress toward capturing Odessa, at this point. Russia tied up 20,000 to 30,000 troops around Kerson and then lost the ability to keep them supplied well (they get dribs and drabs through by helicopter). They could let go of that nuke power plant, but that's not many troops. They sent a large convoy to reinforce troops near Karkiv, but Ukraine wiped out that convoy. They could pull from the Donbas, but then risk losing the crown jewel (city) they planned to keep (not counting Crimea). If Russia finds a way to recover, only then, maybe, they could take a shot at Odessa.
