  • Royal Alloy TG300S fitted with Lambretta Series 2 bodywork. The Lambretta body panels are a close fit, but not an exact fit, so there is a significant amount of fabrication and welding involved in this modification. The Royal Alloy TG300 frame, suspension, steering and brakes are unmodified as this is a cosmetic modification only.

As an old scooterist and S2 owner thats a great set of up grades it looks really good, have you hidden the indicators (sorry 62 year old and the eyes are not the best i might have missed them) i dont mind the RAs they are very popular as long as theres no bathroom accesories on them that includes older scooters as well and thats only my opinon and not having a go at anyone. Enjoy the scooter it looks great.

I'm a motorcyclist but do appreciate an excellent makeover for your Series 2. If they released an authentic hub cover the scooter would be almost identical to the original for most - yes, the scrutinising purists will point out hundreds of differences while wearing a replica parka and Doctor Marten boots but that's life!

Thanks Roger, it's been a lot of work and expense, but I'm much happier now I've got rid of the features I didn't like. I've had British bikes and scooters all my life - there's something much more appealing about their classic lines. I have looked at doing the chaincase side, but it would be a lot of work and I'm sure I would keep catching my shins on the dummy kickstart 🤣

@dkrcapellascooter2625 I've seen a number of Alloys, Scomadi etc made to look like an Innocenti but miss totally. Your's is bang on. It's a shame that the Lambretta name sits with those subjectively awful plastic scooters - if Alloy could put the brand on theirs, the marketing opportunity and sales would be huge - especially with versions like yours. 👍

@@rogerramjet5302 Lambretta really missed an opportunity there, but sadly they're just competing with or reacting to the wider market of modern scooters.

It's a show plate. I just put it on for the scooter rallies and for photographs. I put thumb wheels on the plastic bolts on the back so it's easy to swap over and I store it in my spare wheel holder.

Thanks - I'm just hoping the weather improves a bit - we've been soaked through at the last 3 events.

Love this. I've just got myself a TG300 to add to my old Lambretta and Vepsa's...I love the look of the TG but would love to make it even more S2 like, especially the period rear wheel carrier, would be interested to know what you needed to do to make this fit the TG ?

Thanks. I had to cut the lower mounting arms from the Series 2 Trombone rack and re-weld them further up. I'll do another video this week 😊

All it needs is a megaphone style exhaust sloping out the back

Thanks Ian, I enjoy riding it, particularly through the wet weather while my Lambretta stays dry in the garage.

Problem is, these scooters are for a certain age group... And in 10 years they'll all be retired from scootering... Hence royal alloy will then go out of business....

Make Hay while the sun shines - I say Rich. You only have to look at the demographic of the people who go to Northern Soul, Ska and mod music events - it will all be over for us in another 10 years, or maybe sooner if our classic scooters are legislated off the roads. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Sadly Richard is quite correct...... for the UK market! Interestingly the World market is somewhat different to the UK, although the 'window' (UK) for the world is rapidly becoming a very much shrinking marketplace and RA are fully aware of this. It is true that the demographics of the UK scooterist remains the same, often typically ageing, opinionated, frustrated, politically aligned, whereas EVERYWHERE else is noted to be quite the opposite. RA must (and are) diversifying their product portfolio, Vespa did in 2017 with the end of the PX range - it 'died' because it would not meet emissions, it died because it was too expensive to produce AND the actual sales were in the rest of the world very poor! Strangely LML died in the same year for similar reasons. So in essence for the 'dying' band of UK scooterists, yes we are doing our very best to cater for the shrinking demand of those wanting classic style at the same time meeting the latest legislation (globally), continuing to invest immensely in tooling to produce the widest range and at the same time remain profitable in times of difficulty AND knowingly that we are in the smallest of 'niches' within the marketplace! Hell, we need some slack! The ASEAN market demands are very different - and Vespa have catered very very well... Here we come Vespa - look out for our 2024 ranges!
