Before 1905, the Golden Temple had Brahmin priests,hindu deities idols and images for at least a century, attracting pious Sikhs and Hindus. In 1890s, these idols and practices came under attack from some radical Sikhs. In 1905, with the campaign of the Tat Khalsa, these idols and images were removed from the Golden Temple.(HARI-MANDIR....Hari means Vishnu...). Guru Granth Sahib is full of verses with names of Lord Ram and Govind ( Krishna ) . @@CHARVAKA. for somebody who knows nothing about gurbani! or sikhism should not comment! the construction of the city amritsar where golden temple is constructed was established by 4th nanak Guru ramdas in 1574 and golden temple's construction was completed in 1577, harmandir sahib is open to all mankind but not just golden temple yet alone the city amritsar was established in 1500 by 4th nanak!!! and in sikhism all the teachings revolve around ram, hari all pointing towards the message of oneness and that god is one!!! Sikhism praises the message of god and values every saint who is spreading the word of god!
There are do many different opinions within sikh scholars and sampradayas i think he covered the history generally acceptable from all i think.. so i think it’s good even tho i dont agree with certain aspects of history he told
I adore and revere Guru Gobind Singh Ji from the core of my mind, heart, and soul. I just now subscribed to YT Premium so that I can hear this fantastic podcast without any disrupting ads. So far I've watched only a few minutes of it but I am already in awe of Sarbpreet Singh ji and love him. He is the real deal, as they say in America; not just another scholar/historian. I am a Punjabi Brahmin, and still alive despite Aurangjeb's vow of killing off all of us. This was possible only because Guru Gobind Singh Ji became our savior! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much for this podcast..a small addition ..During the year 1663, when Guru Har Krishan Sahib were in Delhi, an epidemic of cholera and smallpox broke out. The seven year old Guru attended to and served the suffering people with complete devotion. By his grace, the lake at Bangla Sahib provided a cure for thousands of peoples. In the process of serving the diseased, the Guru was himself seized by high fever and an attack of smallpox, eventually passing away on 30th March 1664, aged just eight years. The Guru wished that nobody mourn his death, rather instructing the Sikhs to sing hyms from the Gurbani. The Tenth Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib, later paid tribute to Guru Har Krishan Sahib by stating "Guru Sri Harkrishan Dhiyaiai Jis Dithe Sab Dukh Jaaye" which translates to "Let us think of the holy Har Krishan,whose sight dispels all sorrow", which forms a part of the daily Sikh prayer Ardas.🙏

I don't usually comment but this is first in a history I'm a student of Punjab university Lahore. Recently there was a 3 day country largest book fair and among the lac of books I selected the book of Tareekh e Punjab written by kunhaia Lal and composed by Hafiz gohar. Last night I completely read about 10 gurus and today I am watching this podcast 😮
I am from a brahmin punjabi family, and i believe in sikh religion more than hindu. However, I don't doubt any religion, but i feel strong connection with sikhism. I have completed both of the podcasts and really got goosebumps. I have made notes out of it and will share the sikh history with my friends and family for sure.

All bakwas ,Guru Gobind Singh never won a single major battle ,Hindus were saved by Marata who defeated Aurangzeb and his 5 lac army in Deccan War (1680-1707) and captured Delhi (1737)

Sikhism was born to protect hindu people, and sikh were also hindu but in ancient time those who are strong and brave they known as rajputs and some rajputs were turned sikhs to protect community. Every one roots are sanatan.

A little memory, when I was 5-8 years old my mum would play the cassette about guru sahib for me to learn and I remember breaking down in tears listening to this shabad. Which I do to this date. Always feel it’s happening to my father. Which is true spiritually.
Once again, it was amazing! I can listen to sarbjeet sir for hours and i dont even have to stop doing what im doing.. everything still registers, he's that great of a story teller .. and a great motivation on how to be grounded, humble and polite at all times ...! Its just sad we have forgotten the sarcifices they did so that we can breathe in fresh air .. even if we do not want to follow strict practices , the least we can do is remember what they've given up to impart values to us and atleast hold on and pass on those values to others.. people ask me why do i get restless and irritated when someone is being mistreated, im like cant help, its in DNA by now.. trust me its very very hard to move away and not help if u ever see a sikh not coming up to help.. most likely u wont but in case cz not always you have that mental bandwidth or capacity.. anyway, thanks ranveer for bringing such wealth of knowledge yet again right at our doorstep!🙏😇
I really liked this podcasts and felt it completely resonated with me. I have a question, do Sikhs meditate like jaapa and antar jyoti & shabad,etc because Guru Nanakji wrote extensively about it. Is this knowledge lost or still prevalent?

Such a nice episode Ranveer. I thought of sleeping mid episode and continue the other half tomorrow but couldn't resist myself watching the whole episode and here I am at 2 am. Although it’s an 2.5 hours podcast, I wanted to go in depth of all the stories. I knew a few of them and felt we lost a lot of context without knowing that just because we were covering them in short. It was such a valuable piece of content. I loved the narration specifically quoting the specific lines and giving information from historical accounts without adding their interpretation which in usually case might get tainted. Thank you!

Sikhism praises the message of god and values every saint who is spreading the word of god!

I adore and revere Guru Gobind Singh Ji from the core of my mind, heart, and soul. I just now subscribed to YT Premium so that I can hear this fantastic podcast without any disrupting ads. So far I've watched only a few minutes of it but I am already in awe of Sarbpreet Singh ji and love him. He is the real deal, as they say in America; not just another scholar/historian. The seven year old Guru attended to and served the suffering people with complete devotion. By his grace, the lake at Bangla Sahib provided a cure for
thousands of peoples. In the process of serving the diseased, the Guru was
himself seized by high fever and an attack of smallpox, eventually passing away on 30th March 1664, aged just eight years. The Guru wished that nobody mourn his death, rather instructing the Sikhs to sing hyms from the Gurbani. The Tenth Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib, later paid tribute to Guru Har Krishan Sahib by stating "Guru Sri Harkrishan Dhiyaiai Jis Dithe Sab Dukh Jaaye" which translates to "Let us think of the holy Har Krishan,whose sight dispels all sorrow", which forms a part of the daily Sikh prayer Ardas.🙏

I am from a brahmin punjabi family, and i believe in sikh religion more than hindu. However, I don't doubt any religion, but i feel strong connection with sikhism. I have completed both of the podcasts and really got goosebumps. I have made notes out of it and will share the sikh history with my friends and family for sure.

Once again, it was amazing! I can listen to sarbjeet sir for hours and i dont even have to stop doing what im doing.. everything still registers, he's that great of a story teller .. and a great motivation on how to be grounded, humble and polite at all times ...! Its just sad we have forgotten the sarcifices they did so that we can breathe in fresh air .. even if we do not want to follow strict practices , the least we can do is remember what they've given up to impart values to us and atleast hold on and pass on those values to others.. people ask me why do i get restless and irritated when someone is being mistreated, im like cant help, its in DNA by now.. trust me its very very hard to move away and not help if u ever see a sikh not coming up to help.. most likely u wont but in case cz not always you have that mental bandwidth or capacity.. anyway, thanks ranveer for bringing such wealth of knowledge yet again right at our doorstep!🙏😇
I really liked this podcasts and felt it completely resonated with me. I have a question, do Sikhs meditate like jaapa and antar jyoti & shabad,etc because Guru Nanakji wrote extensively about it. Is this knowledge lost or still prevalent?

Although it’s an 2.5 hours podcast, I wanted to go in depth of all the stories. I knew a few of them and felt we lost a lot of context without knowing that just because we were covering them in short.
It was such a valuable piece of content. I loved the narration specifically quoting the specific lines and giving information from historical accounts without adding their interpretation which in usually case might get tainted.

Before 1905, the Golden Temple had Brahmin priests, idols and images for at least a century, attracting pious Sikhs and Hindus. In 1890s, these idols and practices came under attack from some radical Sikhs. In 1905, with the campaign of the Tat Khalsa, these idols and images were removed from the Golden Temple.

1) baba sri chand ji (the first son of gurunanak dev ji) who was the founder of udassi samodaye and considered as an avtaar of shivji which is considered as a great sect of mordern day tantra sadhna
2) ram rai ji (he is the same ram rai you mentioned in the episode who changed the meaning of guru granth sahib ji ) he was a great yogi pls discuss about the 72 miracles he presented infront of aurangzeb as well as the conspiracy of his death which is a very interesting episode he body was burned while he was performing a high level yog sadhna
3) the recorded past birth of guru gobind singh sahib ji as well as gurujis sadhna of devi mata and his encounter with chandi maa at naina devi
4) the influence of saint kabir and saint namdev on gurugrath sahib ji and prem ras krishna ji influenced banis in guru granth sahib ji
5) the process of mantra japa in sikhism such as the mool mantra (which was originally given by guru nanak dev ji but was recorded in guru granth sahib on the recommendation of baba sri chand ji whom i mentioned earlier) also put some light on how gurditta ji became the second prominent leader of udasi samudaye
6)the spiritual process of nam dan in sikhism
7) life of guru ravi das ji
8)how guru nanak ji influenced the life of sai baba ( as he was a nankpanthi)
9)how bhakti movement influenced sikhism
I would love to see an episode on these parts of sikhism which are generally less talked about but provides a great evidence of the strong bond between the sanatan dharm
Just a little correction, Prithi chand was son of fourth guru. Guru Nanak's son was Sri Chand, who started udasi panth.

Actually mool mantra was not recorded on Baba Sri Chand Ji's suggestion. It is a salok that you are referring to, and it's part of Sri Sukhmani Sahib.
