Classic Game Room reviews GYNOUG for Sega Genesis released in 1991, a horizontally scrolling shoot 'em up featuring a shirtless dude with wings who flies through ancient environments, underwater levels, machines and a stomach!! - Розваги
As a Gynougcologist, I highly recommend this game.
Always loved the grotesquely detailed enemies in this game! So cool.
Great game, probably my favorite on the Genesis, the soundtrack is amazing.
The Sega Mega Drive, my favourite console of all time.
the artwork in the japanese instruction book for this is immense, the music is immense and the intro music is some of the most immense intro ever, the graphics and art style is immense, this game is immense..i quite like this game.
what an awesome game..those were the days.
I got this game but the USA version. This game is really a great game and part of my Sega Genesis collection.
How? It wasn't released in the USA.
I have the USA version too it's called wings of war.
@@Oysterblade84 I have the USA version too and it's called wings of war but war is spelled w o r.
@@Oysterblade84 trust me it was released in the US and I have a copy of it. Now maybe it's a reproduction or something but it's 1991 everything I even looked it up man yeah I got it man I've had it in for a minute now and it's a good game
@@adamrutherford1704 You're right. I take it back it was released there but not under Gynoug.
All the rotation and scaling effects on the Sega 16-Bit were done via software.
Konami and Treasure often used them, but other companies stayed away because doing it via software ate up a lot of precious space on the cartridge ROM.
This game almost sent me mad!! Hypnotic. Relentless. Intense. Impossible for me to finish back in 1991
Omg !! The same with me bro !!!!
Beer and Games.I did not know these two things go so well together! Thanks, Mark!
Gotta love Gynoug.
This was the first MD game I saw with that funky rotation effect that in theory the hardware supposedly couldn't do.
That cover is so metal. If I had a van, I'd totally have that winged dude painted on it. Great vid, Mark!
Thank you for the Upload of Gynoug Video. Your are great.
"Detailed graphics and giant bosses!" - description of this game on the back of the old Mega Drive poster.
I lost track of how many years I’ve been waiting for you to review the 32X Star Trek game I sent
Great review mark! Loved the GTA III reference!
Great vid! I loved this game. :)
Finally Mark, I love this game so much.
I've always wanted this game
Wow, how did I miss this!?
It's so cruel of games that after the game over screen you can see what else you could have blown to pieces if you weren't dead by now...
The side scrolling shooter game that I enjoyed the most was probably Agony on the Amiga500. Beautiful visuals and kickass music!
This game is awesome, the music is so cool
My first Mega Drive game, loved it, Thanks mark!
U must be younger then I thought because those were some mighty quick moves when you were playing. I miss having the reflexes of my youth when playing shmups.
Possibly my favourite shoot em up ever. I'd love a HD remaster for current gen systems
Playstation has one. It's currently around 4 bucks. (at 30% discount)
The manic feel and innovative graphical style make this feel like a Turbographx-16 game. And that's an unadulterated compliment.
I love this game to no end!
"It looks like somebody forgot to brush his teeth while sitting at the bottom of the ocean." Now that, was funny.
This was released in the US as "Wings of Wor". It was my favorite shooter by far and probably in my top 5 Genesis games ever.
This was one of my childhood games on the Genesis. I always liked that dead turtle mini-boss as a kid though I never got far into the game. Though now I am able to fully experience the game and it is still awesome. I really liked Wings of Wor and its style.
released in USA as Wings of Wor I was terrible at it but loved it as a kid. I'm gonna go back to this one because I love shmups, just can never beat them properly.
fun fact: Gynoug/Wings of Wor is developed by the same dev team who would go on to create Cho Aniki.
...YES, THAT CHO ANIKI.
Cool. Hence the shirtless guy.
Sadly, this game is WAY better than Cho Aniki, AM2.
Thanks for the video. This was another game I missed out not having a Genesis. I enjoy games whose graphics have character like that.
your scripts are the best on youtube.
The cover art on the case for the american version is top notch. Like. Get it tattooed over your entire back excellent.
You forgot to mention the incredible art made for the monsters, they're that sort of HR Giger aliens mixed with some horror zombie content which certainly makes this game so memorable... this art somewhat remembers me of R-TYPE but with a more medieval and steampunk approach.
Another game I need to look out for great!!
Seems like a really nice shmup!
Dude i had the mega drive,cd drive everything,i still love it
I played the hell out of this game and thx to the action replay that made me able to beat this hard ass piece. Gynoug (we pronounced it Geenoog) has one of the best Shoot'em'up soundtrack EVER. This is a "must own" for every Genesis/Mega Drive collector!
I pretty sure this was the 2nd video game I've ever played, Sonic 2 being the first... I used to watch my much older brother play this game when i was 4 back in 1993... Yes I have that memory and its very special.
This game looks awesome.
It's coming out on the Nintendo Switch. Might even be out now if your reading this. IS THIS WHY IT'S IN MY RECOMMENDED?!?!?!? We'll never know but THE ALGORITHM IS ALL SEEING!!
Frickin awesome channel for true gamers
A pirate ship with a face.Damn i love the megadrive!
he's so strong that he can even fly under water...
one of my favourites along with thunder force and bio hazard battle
Hot damn, the european/jp cartridge art was so much better than what we got here in the states.
NICE!!!
Awesome Mark! Geiles Spiel Alex :D
Love this title. I play it on my Genny very often. Love the music. Love the strange bosses.
NOW YOU'RE PLAYING WITH IMMENSENESS!
I do not have Mega Drive anymore, but I still have the Gynoug cartridge, just like this one
Life didn't begin for me until I played the Sega Genesis.
some freaky bosses in this game, its great!
The asethetics of this game are amazing, the developers really had creativity, i usually don't enjoy shmups that much, but this one is so interesting that I wanted to finish it just to see all the weird enemies and listen to the music.
Mark do u send back games to the senders after reviewing them
Great game... I've recognized Bach music in this game.
Liked the video. Can anyone recommend a good shump for psp?
Thats among one of my favorite passtimes and i'm not even a shirtless dude with wings...
How can you dodge anything when Bill moves so fast?
My first sega game and my all time favourite game it's called Wing of war in some regions 😂 no body can ever say the name of this game 😂 love stage 2 were you slowly go into the Warter love it
Yeah, finally :-) !
It still rules!
Even after all these years I still regret selling my megadrive. E-bay it is then. Marks reviews are awesome.
Is the F-Zero GX review coming anytime soon?
I LOVE this Game
but i never Made it on Hard mode through Level 5 that Level is SICK
Could you review crysis 1 or 2 or both that would be awesome I love your reviews :-)
The person who did the sprites for Gynoug later did the Cho Aniki games, which explains some of this game's... undertones.
With BLAST PROCESSING!
AKA "Wings of Wor" here in the US. :)
i wish i got a genesis intsead of an NES. this game looks so good.
I never said hardware scaling used anything other than the initial graphic.
I was speaking about a game that used effects to convey something is getting closer or further away on a non-scaling hardware system.
For example, a game like Outrun on the Sega Genesis, will have graphics such as, cars, signs, trees, etc.. saved as bitmaps of various sizes.
For games that use more advanced Mode style effects such as Gunstar Heroes they will store every frame as a RAW format and then load to VRAM.
It was released here as Wings of Wor.
@SuperSoundwave100 yeah, that one too. I also really dig vapor trail or twin cobra's soundtrack. Like I said there are soooooo many.
seems like a nice game!
MVHH
Bro, they are re-releasing Gynoug. This is PROOF POSITIVE that you must come back and make new content ... um Mike I think, is your name Mike? I forget it's been so long!
Mark Bussler, the man, the legend, all hail Lord Karnage!!!!
Brilliant game still have my original copy
if u only buy a megadrive, this one game and a delicious mug of beer, you are onto a winner forever trevor!
..."just like you" ....lol that sounded creepy Mark !
This game is awesome !! AWESOME ! I love it ! :-)
This game was released in the US as Wings of Wor.
Wings of Wor!
turbo controller?
that's like the same cave as in Shinobi 3
Gynoug is the only shmup I ever played on my Mega Drive great memories.
The faster forced scrolling part in stage 4 is the best tune imo.
3:44 Very "Time Bandits"...
This is definitely a bullet hell shooter.. FOR THE ENEMIES!
you guessed right!
That kind of fantasy art work is one of the best things about the Mega Drive. Just makes me want to blast Manowar while slaying dragons with my bare hands.
Ah this is the tune "Gynoug/Wings of Wor Soundtrack: Stage 4-1"
that last level is such a troll with the bullets blending in the background =(
My thoughts exactly
I had this game, but it was called Wings of Wor
Gary Ganoug
DUISBURG!!! :D
That was a bery beautifull Genesis game. I didn´t know it. Must be a pretty obscure one.
i have this on the sega genesis on the simple white label its called wings of wor in the us
*says it's Friday afternoon*
*Releases video on a Thursday*
OMG MARK REALLY IS THE FUTURE!!
This game was called Wings of Wor in NA. That GYNOUG thing just wasn't gonna fly (no pun intended).
Wait until you meet the boss of that level. It's the stuff Freudian nightmares are made of.
