I am an adult doll collector who creates videos for other doll collectors and doll enthusiasts to enjoy.
I almost always at least slightly modify manufactured dolls and don't see a problem with it. I have my dolls for the enjoyment I get from them, not for their monetary value. I think it's awesome that you did this! I've been wanting a 22-inch baby with 1/4 limbs, and doing something like this is very tempting!
I have her and i desperately want to have her reborned and weighted much heavier than she is. Ive seen a couple reborned Emily's online and im inlove with the look. I actuality wouldnt even mind just having more touches added to her current manufatured paint; eyebrows, nicer eyelashes, a little more blushing, glaze in her nostrils and more lifelike paint to her lips. So no, i dont think its a bad thing to alter her to make improvements. I love the improvements you made to yours ❤

It’s done all the time in the legit reborn community, even switching the limbs and modifying kits a little like doing things life elf ears
The Ashton Dolls have really badly made kits ! I have reborned many reborn many Ashton Drake dolls and always put new bodied … I have found rice and stones used as weighting
In a typical to Ashton Drake baby the head legs and body is all weighted

Modified manufactured dolls are actually THE original reborns 😂. That where it all started, wayyyy before Kits were created. Modified/customized dolls are actually my favorites. Reminds me of the good ole days, over 22 years ago when I discovered the hobby ❤️.
I think if it allows you to enjoy her more then you should reborn or modify her to your liking. I bought this doll to and ended up sending her back because I didn’t like the proportions or the armatures as well as the vinyl just isn’t nice. It felt cheap. Just felt like she was not worth the $200.00. She does look so much better on the cloth body you put her on. She’s more proportionate and I’m sure more cuddly!😊

I’ve been wanting to purchase this doll ❤. I think I would replace the body as well. I love AD dolls but not their lack of weighting. That’s too bad about the armatures. They sound as if they would be cool.
I ordered the 20th anniversary Emily as well and I was not crazy about her compared to the original one that came out. That was my very first reborn. I just was not pleased with her so I returned her and Ashton Drake gave me no problems. I’m thankful for that.

I guess some people say you shouldn’t modify the dolls because they are collectible items. Personally, if I spend the money to buy a doll, I would rather buy it to enjoy it, and I would make whatever modifications were necessary for me to do so. For example, I got a vintage Berjusa baby last week. She is 21 inches long and is sleeping. I love her little face, but in my opinion, her head is turned too far to the left. It is almost like she is looking over her left shoulder. Seeing her that way makes me think she would have a huge crick in her neck. I have been wanting to take her zip tie out and turn her head so it faces forward and then put the zip tie back in so that her head can turn a little, but her zip tie is in so tight I can’t cut it. The fact that her head is turned so far to the left is making it harder for me to bond with her.
