  • Most children are having to navigate countless adjustments and transitions. Too often, it’s the little everyday changes that spark big behaviors in kiddos- getting ready for breakfast, brushing teeth, putting clothes away, turning off the tablet, or going to get into the car.🥞👕🚗
In fact, behavioral outbursts and tantrums most frequently occur amidst a transition; whether it’s a new routine or a daily routine. This can be exhausting for parents!
But, by helping kiddos learn to cope with the smaller, daily transitions, you’re preparing your kids to tolerate the larger transitions!
In this video, Molly Monaghan shares three tips to help your child manage day-to-day transitions.

I agree transitions can be difficult times I think it’s important to move your child through the transitions. Sometimes real life gets in the way of using some strategies

These are such helpful tips! I was looking for advice for bigger transitions though. Like a divorce. Having to rehome cats because Grandma's allergic. Having to live somewhere new. These are all things my four, six, and 7-year-old have gone through and their behavior has been ridiculous through it. I know they are acting out because of their internal struggles and I'm trying to be patient and figure out how to help them.

@@brentstutzman thank you so much! I'm trying to get my kids and myself into family counseling but it's nice to do some research while I wait to get seen. 🥰 I'll watch/listen to your recommendations!
My 7 year old has been lying alot and is very proud of her "drama queen" attitude as she herself calls it. Any suggestions with those will be appreciated too!

I have guardianship of my grand daughter and when mom drops her off she tends to linger around and then she suddenly burst into hysterics and runs after her mom. I use the transition technique with her on a daily basis and it truly is helpful but how do I deal with mom who doesn't want to follow these guidelines? How can I help my grand daughter transition to me? Often times I have to have an activity planned like playing in park, bike riding, having play date time..IS this ok?
