Its a great day when you discover new footage of the Bayou Maharajah, thanks for sharing!
Cela fait plaisir de voir James Booker heureux, s'amuser... Il aurait dû rester en Europe...

Awesome! James Booker is a legend! Thanks for the upload.
Wish I could have seen him, gave me such a lot of inspiration..
I'm so sad that I never had the chance to see him in person... happu about these rare footage of him
The fact that he was shunned, for whatever reason, here in America says more about "us" than Booker. The man had his faults, but don't we all? He was a genuine musical genius, a magical minstrel! 🧞♂️🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹👁👑
I'm from NOLA. Brooker, from what I understand, he was difficult to work with.
At the Maple Leaf Bar Dr. John and his possible showed up, Brooker took a break. He never returned.
@@rducase That was probably due to his alleged heroin addiction, but that opens up the ages old debate over which came first the chicken or the egg, ie the personality issues or the drugs, and on and on and on....
Great video of Booker performing.
What a great video of an absolute genius on the piano. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Wait a sec is a playing with a broken shoulder?! If so he is even more of a legend! Hahaha :D
The MC tells the audience that Booker has had an accident in the airport in Germany on his way to Norway, and that he broke his left arm, but will still perform «with both hands». The playing is still magninficent.
Looks like Speckled Red. He didn't even do "The Dirty Dozens"
it's not speckled red it's Memphis piano red, speckled red died in 1972.
@@ronnieharrison3695 I think day both stay off the sunny side of da street 🤠
@@TrinkBruder your probably right
Evident here are the inherent obstacles in trying to persuade a non-American audience to participate in American music.
If American audiences have such good taste, explain why Booker had to take a day job back in the US and do gigs in a laundromat. All his best performances around this time were recorded in Europe.
European fans loved Booker, he could've stayed there and been bigger that Champion Jack Dupree, but a difficult as it was to make a living in New Orleans, you couldn't take him away from his beloved city for very long.
This is an amazing video.
@@dratoeYou can have good taste, and still be in darkness. Booker was light-years ahead of his time. Sometimes, to their great loss, people just aren't ready for someone of his immense talent, even when he's right under their noses. 🎹🎹🎹👑
