People nitpicking as if they spoke perfect spanish, but I did find it funny when you apologized for your pronunciation after perfectly pronouncing a long name.
And yes, cochinita from chaya maya, I didn't know cochinita could be that good.
    Great tips by the way!

Great tips, very useful information and a well-edited video, EXCEPT for one annoying flaw.
You started off pronouncing "Mérida" correctly [MAIR-ih-duh] and then, for some inexplicable reason, kill the pronunciation to [mur-EE-da] for most of the video to the end.
The accent on the "e" (é) means that syllable is emphasized.
You pronounce it correctly at the start of he video, and, oddly, correctly at (0:46), then murder it in the very next sentence at (0:52) and continue mispronuncing it "gringo-style" all the way to the end.
The accent indicates emphasis of that syllable.
Another small step towards Spanish fluency!

Yes, you are correct. I was struggling pronouncing this the whole duration of my trip. For some reason this word got the best of me. I genuinely appreciate your comment and feedback.

@@rockalittletravel Great video and tips. I've got to visit! A tip about pronunciation in Spanish is you always stress the syllable with the accent. If the word doesn't have an accent, you would have been correct stressing the second to last syllable. This is the usual rule unless there is an accent.

@@rockalittletravel, for what it's worth, many -- if not most -- gringos (myself included), often mispronounce "Yucatán" as "YEW-kuh-tan" when "yoo-ka-TAHN" is much closer to correct.
I must get that correct, as I plan to retire in Mérida/Progreso in a few years.
      ¡BIEN VIAJES! 😀

    ME - Rida
Not MeR-Ida. The E is stronger than the I.

Ahhhh, yes! I knew I was not getting that right, I think I started off okay and totally lost it by the end. I'm working on it. I appreciate the comment.

People, concentrate on the content. Its not even funny how much attention you all put into pronunciation. You know what she is talking about. It should be enough.

Actually, no. It's distracting, particularly when the mispronunciation is the very subject of the video. If you're going to make a video about a city, at least get the name right.

Really nice video, but please stop saying Me-RI’ da. It’s Mer’ Ida. If you’re going to do a video on a town, ask a local how to pronounce it so you get it right. It would be like calling California, Califor nia’. It’s just incorrect. I’m not angry, just being frank. I.hope to visit Mer’ida soon. TU.
