the moments in history, where some men showed real leadership, are very rare. Atatürk, who fought there, saw his men dying and still he could do something like that. I truly believe that he has hate in him for the ANZAC, because of their doings, but to overcome this war, he did this remarkble honorment of this poor boys from the south. I have no bondings with turks, but i understand their obsession with him. True leaders are very rare and in our modern time, we need them, but ... .

A little unrelated but my great grandfather would tell me stories when he was in World War II and he told me when he got back his father's hair was entirely Gray from stress so it shows you just how worried parents are when their kids go to war. Of course his dad was very Stern and would never admit it but he was very worried about him.

When the Art of War album came out I listened to it almost daily at work (welder with headphones) where Cliffs Of Gallipoli and Price of a Mile became my favourites on that album. At the time I didn't know what Gallipoli was about I just loved it, it was later I found out the history and since then the line "There is no enemy, there is no victory" just hits extra hard.
I'm American and know what this song is about and I can't imagine how brave they had to be. They dropped them off in a death trap. I love military history and when I first learned of this I was shocked anyone would have tried this. You should seriously watch the sabton history video that explains this. It's quick and does a good job letting you know what happens. Edit: just type the song name and sabaton history and it will come up if you decide to look it up.
The Turks they came up against were from the area and had fought against the Greeks 2 years prior, the Australian army had to fight very hard and was very lucky not to be pushed back into the sea lone pine was a bloodbath if you look at the numbers 2000 Aussies killed 7000 Turks in a area 300 yards wide and 150 yards deep and that was about the only success of the campaign. There's a series called Gallipoli made in 2014 well worth watching if you can get it In the states it's our Australian equivalent to your band of brothers series.

As mentioned below, the Turkish leader is quated in a line in the song. I saw u reacted negative about something they sung about "dying in vain" but if u knew all the history about this battle it would make sence. The allies had underestimated the Turks and thought this would be an easy win but when they realized it was doomed, the allied command send a message to not push forward but the comms were down at this location so a runner with a letter was trying to hand it to the general in charge. Sadly he didnt make it in time and the order to attack was carried out, killing a huge amount of men but it was doomed from the start. Hence they died in vain. Lovely reaction ty

Oooh, glad to see you're doing music reactions! I don't know your tastes but I'll assume you appreciate talent wherever you see it. If you want an awesome one with sabaton I can heavily recommend En livstid i krig (a lifetime of war) Live Scandinavium Gothenburg 2020. It is the Swedish version of the song so you should make sure the subtitles are on.

Yea this song is depressing, Gallipoli wasn’t a battle, and wasn’t a landing, it was a slaughter, the commanders didn’t care about the loss of life, they were pawns of war.
The original plan called for the Navy to effectively suicide two or three pre-dreadnaught battleships (which no longer had any chance of surviving in a line of battle) to break the beach defenses. But the middle level admirals disliked the idea of those ships being destroyed, and felt that a few thousand infantry was a better sacrifice. We have letters from Churchhill and others asking why the Admiral in charge of the region hadn't followed through, but by that point it was just a meat grinder.
A really happy one this, right? ;) But to do this properly I think a good starter pack of Sabaton is the way to go. :) So I will suggest 3 and a half songs/performances/videos to showcase their things. After that, you are good to go in any direction you want. They are not necessarily their best songs, but they will show you the complete picture. And obviously they are great anyway. :) 1a. It's really great entertainment. As I said, that is a small package to get you hooked, they have tons of great songs besides those. From the new album they just released I really like "Christmas truce", amazing song, amazing story and an even better music video.. Also "Unkillable soldier", really fun song with a fun video telling the story of a really weird guy. :)
