Doubling Gap overlook is great! I was able to drive up there over Labor Day weekend 2024. Terrific view on a clear, sunny day. If that closed gate is the one off Laurel Run road it was open over Labor Day weekend.

@@ervinslens the fall colors were just amazing on this trip. We ventured north to find it, but it's fleeting. On my next video, I had to travel south to catch the color!
You sure that plant wasn't mullein (or grand mullein), AKA "Indian toilet paper"? That grows a tall nasty stalk and has big fuzzy leaves. And works pretty well in a pinch.
Hmmm.... Growing in a rosette pattern, non-scalloped edges on the leaf... You could be right. This time of year, couldn't tell if it had yellow or purple flowers. Thanks for the comment and insight!
