Omg this always made me cry. I was 12 when this episode aired and Ashlee really got me into singing, she made me realize just how much I truly love it. I started taking my singing seriously because of her. Thank you so much for posting.
It was heavily corporate backed album, im not surprised they needed everything to be absolute perfect, had this been somewhat independent, they would ve let her have a more raw take, she had the tone but her voice cracked a little which is not really that bad. Also, the point of the video in the episode was to showcase Kara's contribution.
Kara can just be an artist an sing all her own songs. She is a GREAT singer and writer.
Unfortunately, she had confidence problems after she was told constantly that her image wasn't marketable.
