The best ww2 film made the music is so fitting you can visualise the spitfires and hurricanes bursting through the clouds homing in on the Luftwaffe.A fine tribute too all those who sacrificed everything for our freedom we will never forget you.👏👏🙏🙏🙏
This piece of music by Goodwin totally captures Germanys pride and they're mind set of total invincibility at the eve of the battle of Britain . Pure genius and ironic to think that a Brit composed it . .

A musical composition of absolute genius and talent. As an ex-music teacher, I used this theme to teach both the origins sought from histrocial German marching tunes from WW2 plus the layering of musical composition. At the time, my students hadn't even watched the film, let alone heard this theme. Ron Goodwin was a compositional titan of his time.
I can't recall how many times I was made to march past various AOC-in-Cs to this tune when I served in the RAF. I might as well have been in the Bundesluftwaffe.
We certainly did. The Polish men in the RAF were some of the toughest, bravest and most aggressive pilots. True warriors and heroes of your nation. I just wish things had turned better for them and their country after the war. A terrible time.
We get hatred from some Poles not because we 'allowed' them to be invaded, but because Churchill and Roosevelt sold them out to Stalin after the War which meant they were under the Soviet jackboot heel until the USSR broke up in 1989 @@kyleJohn1997
From 2:28 until the very end, love it! Also, throughout the whole tune, you can march to the beat of the music. If I hadn’t known Ron Goodwin created this, I would of though it was an actual military tune.
Yeah, it's very much a 'Germanic March' in a style that goes back to at least Beethoven. Great thing about this being an original composition is that we get to enjoy a centuries old genre without the particular piece having been polluted by the Nazis...
The Third Marine Air Wing Band actually played this at a wing change of command ceremony in 1985 while we were passing in review. We all had a hankering for beer & bratwurst...

This is going to be the song Hitler Rants Parodies plays when Goering stops eating, when Krebs stops pointing at maps/fish, when Jodl stops objecting, when Burgdorf stops drinking and when Fegelein finally dies.
For us British the war ended 31st December 2006. On that day the massive financial dept owned to the US for all that food and raw material, was finally paid off with interest.
Kesselring was not a tall man, and the actor in the movie playing him had no resemblance whatsoever. Kesselring was called "Smiling Albert" and this actor never ever smiled.
I have it on DVD, I also have objective Burma, where eagles dare, battle ground, Kelly's heroes, merrils marchers, action in the north Atlantic, up periscope

great music......soundtracks nowadays are abysmal compare to the great war film scores of the past :) (Where Eagles Dare; The Eagle has Landed; A Bridge Too far etc...)
My Grandfather was in the RAF in 1945, this played at his funeral in January, a wonderful man who I miss very much.
My grandad served in the army in Singapore in 1950 and my nan served in the WAAF in 1944 as a radar operator...

One of the best movies I've ever seen, portraying a major chapter of WWII, with a soundtrack recording absolutly remarcable!!! 👍 👍 👍
Ebert trashed it so it must be a great movie .

A brilliant march written by the British for the German

Silence...! In Polish!

Actualy the Luftwaffe March when the film was released. 'Aces High' from the PC World we now live in.

It combines german jaggedness with british elegance.
on My 1st LP cover, bought shortly after the movie showed at the Hoyts in Hurstville late 1960s, it was known as the "Luftwaffe March"...😎👍👍

So brilliant love it.
Fun fact: In the german version of that movie, that part was replaced by the "Badenweiler"-March......dont ask me why...
Hitler's favourite march was apparently the "Badenweiler". Looks like the leopard didn't really change his spots all that much...
Listening to this while flying my gotha bomber around in rise of flight.
If you can, get "Wings Over Flanders Fields" it is bloody hard but good/frustrating fun.
