    Mystery, absolute, spaces where humanity will never reach. Music like this is the only thing that can touch this. Touch but not understand.

    it's like a movie soundtrack, ode to the long and weary journey, . It's almost like they are just buying time to figure out where to go next with it. A lot like life itself, tedious and be labored downright mundane at times. Climbing that hill

    I used to listen to this piece almost religiously when I was in high school. It served as a muse for me whenever I was practicing drawing/painting any Hellenistic influenced artwork. Finally, when I turned 16 I had the pleasure to see them at Wolftrap with my father.

      OMG, didn't realize they did this in 1987. Might be my favorite DCD masterpiece. Would have been the perfect ending to Within The Realm.

      Done the same! *Mystical experience* listen to Children Of The Sun while reading At The Mountains Of Madness and repeat.. "we are ancient, as ancient as the sun.. we came from the ocean, once our ancestral home..." It's the book's soundtrack to me!

      @@thomasstock2726 what a nice reply, fortunately, I am a fan of Arvo Pärt. I find that his minimalist approach in classical music brings out more of his technical ability and really stresses an uneasy sense of ambiance that can be perceived as eerie and overall creepy which in my opinion, makes his music pretty lasting.

    I work at a animal boarding facility and they play this song like 8 times a day and it reminded me of a playing a video game and I'm blessed to have found the sound finally

    The mother of two girls who were my friends in my early teenage killed herself not long ago. I listened to this then, soberly pondering what her soul must have been going through which led her to suicide. She was a devout Christian who had inspired me in past times.

    At first mesmerizing like a Tarkovsky movie. It reminded me of the dreamy, spiritual, and magical parts of "Ivan's Childhood". Then I had to think of "Mountains of Madness" by H.P. Lovecraft. And it ended like a survival movie. Beautiful symbiosis of sound and pictures. Very intense 8 minutes.

    You can hear at the beginning the rough Version of "anywhere akut of this world" and für trumpets at the end of the Song Sound like the chorus of "xavier"... they used several elements of this piece for within the realm

      Ever been to a natural history museum and looked at all the fossils of species that lived for millions of years but are no longer with us? We've been around for what, 50 thousands years? A blink of an eye in geologic time.
      Earth will do fine....us, not so much.

    I forgot about this song until a couple of days ago. I found a mix tape that I had made of DCD and this was the first song on side A. I felt renewed while listening to it. Great song.

    To me, this song conjures an ancient image of an army of a tribe of Celts staging on the battle field, and slowly begin marching toward an opposing army, perhaps a Roman garrison somewhere in northern Europe.

    One of the rare official DCD videos, contained on the DVD with Toward the Within concert in Santa Monica, along with 3 CDs of the special edition. Somber, dark, unsettling, you name it! Still, all the beauty of DCD mystique lies there in absolut splendor.
