I know exactly what you mean. I just got back from a 350 mile round trip for an interview(twice, so 700 miles total!), in my 1993 YJ. While it did a whole lot better than I thought it would, the transfer case ended up puking everywhere the night I got home. So now I have to replace all the seals, and while I’m in it, I might as well just rebuild it. I love these old Jeeps, but man… they do take a lot of upkeep! All part of the fun though

I drive a 2000 wrangler and yes older cars require maintenance. But so do newer ones. And then newer ones (unless you have a warranty) may not have videos to help you figure out the fixes or the aftermarket support you get with these older Jeep’s. In my opinion there is nothing worse than a car payment. In the middle of replacing my engine right now after a lot of debate on do I sell or keep. Ultimately the factors I mention lead me to keep, plus I love my jeep and the longer I own it the more it’s valued and becoming more of a classic.

Hello trevor, I'm a longtime viewer. In your videos did you have issues with your drive shaft? I kinda remember something about that on Bonita.
My Samuria's rear drive shaft broke and I'm trying to figure out if I can drive with in 4wd.

When I first set off to travel and live in Bonita my rear driveshaft U-joint broke about an hour from my house. I should’ve just turned around but I was determined to keep going so I drove it on the highway in 4x4 high for 7 hours. I do not think it hurt anything but I wouldn’t suggest doing it long term

I feel your pain, I have an 84 CJ7 that just needs some maintenance, but my 07 JKU is my daily driver so its daily upkeep takes up all the budget.

V8 swap will require a LOT more than just a motor. We have done so many you're looking at 8k or so on a cheap end to do it right.

Bellhousing, keep the ax15, ford 8:8, and wire it all in, could be done for around $4-$5k

@Life of Trevor a LOT more than that. Motor mounts and reinforcing frame depending on v8 hp, cooling system, motor rebuild machine shop cost, cross member, custom driveshafts, and chromoly shafts for your d30 or you'll blow that up. Then electrical to do it right of course. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things. I have discounts from advanced adapters you can use for the bell housing or whatever adapter you may need. What v8 are you thinking? I'd just send your 4.0 to machine shop for full rebuild and have them throw a cam in it. You'll be happy.

I’m more concerned with the wiring life of the 4.0 but If I could find someone to make a custom harness I’d be happy. I’d just put in a simple 5.3 vortec engine from a Silverado or something
