My son was a Vietnamese orphan my wife and I had the privilege to adopt. I always pointed out Dat Nguyen as an example of a man who didn’t let anything stand in the way of God’s plan.
As a Christian I always admired how Chick-Fil A Franchise has worked out in which you must be hands down....I have tried once but Yet no luck. Love the fact that they dedicate the Sunday to the Lord.
True story: I used to sell cars at a dealership here in corpus christi in the early 90s. I sold a truck to Dat's father Mr. Nguyen. He told me he was a shrimper from rock port. Little did i know it was Dat's father. Crazy small world!
I discovered Dat through a distant family member of his and best friend of mine in new orleans and i always saw Dat and his abilities in my friend and always thought he would be the next one up. I didnt know Dat was a believer. I was able to share Christ with my friend and he gave his life to the Lord. Unfortunately i lost contact with him and my hope today is that he can be that next one up spiritually speaking in his family and for all those around him. God bless’em both!
Growing up and watching football, I’ve always heard of Dat Nguyen but never watched him play since he played for the Cowboys. Never would’ve thought that he’s a Christian and a follower of Christ. It puts a smile on my face when I see people on these platforms and speak the name of Jesus to the masses.
This is a great story. I just saw a clip of Nguyen's time at A&M, and remembered him from his time with the Cowboys. It sounds like he is a truly quality dude, and a Christian no less. how cool 😃
His Chick-fil-A store, located in the Montgomery Plaza area off of 7th Street, is always super busy but do a great job getting folks served. Always have been a great fan of Dat Nguyen at Texas A&M and now as a franchise owner.
I'm so happy to hear he's doing good he's one of the most underrated players in my life really solid linebacker and an awesome dude glad the success has followed you from the game into business now
I don't think anyone denies it's a land of opportunity. That's a trope. That being said we need to make sure it STAYS that way which it doesn't seem to be doing with economic collapse on the horizon.
Dat is a HERO period. His upbringing and his impact are the stuff of legend. A wonderful player and a better human being. What an impact he is on the Cowboys and the community at large. Wow!
Great content! Love this story! My only suggestion is to have your guests and you is face more to the cameras so we get more face and not the ear. Great work!
I followed Dat Nguyen throughout his career with the Cowboys, and I remembered Bill Parcell saying that the only player he would not trade was "Dat Nguyen", that was how important Dat was to the team. But I have to disagreed with Dat saying that the Viet Cong was eliminating "Christians" and forcing everyone to be a "Buddhist". I believed that's what Dat's father told him, but it's further from the truth, matter of fact, today in Vietnam, still a Communist Party, there's a large Christian segment there. The Vietnam War was simply a pawn war between the United States and Russia (Soviet Union then) and the Vietnamese people got caught in the middle, my family was Buddhist, my grandfather owned an exporting (rice) company, my mother owned a shrimping business that was exporting to the West. The Viet Cong didn't cared if you are a Christian, Muslim, or Buddhist, they stole my grandfather's land and company, he jumped off the balcony and committed suicide, he couldn't watched the land that he owed, its been handed down through generations, burned, ransacked, and confiscated. My mother too lost her company, I was 6 years old when they put me and my mother in re-education camp, my father was a POW because he fought with the Americans. My mother and I was allowed to leave camp for my grandfather's funeral, but we never made it, my Aunt had arranged for us to board a boat out of Vietnam. It doesn't mattered if you are rich or poor, Christian or Buddhist, the Viet Cong came for everyone, my Uncles, Aunties, relatives, thousands of Vietnamese, we all had the same story.
Yeah, I'm Vietnamese too. That's some misinformation propaganda he spreading. It had nothing to do with religion. That's some BS his parents were telling him. Vietnam war was basically a civil war for power after the French colonial powers finally got tossed out. America decided to intervene like we always do and got caught up in a fight we weren't ready for. We never should have been there. And let's not forget the war crimes we committed in the My Lai Massacre and rape. Let's not pretend like we were the good guys.
His name is Dat(Đạt)means success, degree of completion, perfection. Accomplishment can also refer to the completion of something according to the intended purposes.
I didn't know he was a Christian. I grew up in San Diego, where a lot of Vietnamese families were settled. How did he get to be so big? Most Vietnamese people are not that big.
Love him, love his time in Football in college and with the cowboys… Disappointed and disgusted to find out he’s with Chick-fil-A. A racist homophobia, anti immigrant, xenophobic company… This one hurts Dat what? 😱
One of the greatest college linebackers ever
damn fine pro too
My son was a Vietnamese orphan my wife and I had the privilege to adopt. I always pointed out Dat Nguyen as an example of a man who didn’t let anything stand in the way of God’s plan.
16:12 I like this guy! Even when he talks about himself, it's all about praising others.
❤🙏✝️🙏♥️
As a Christian I always admired how Chick-Fil A Franchise has worked out in which you must be hands down....I have tried once but Yet no luck. Love the fact that they dedicate the Sunday to the Lord.
He is near the top of the list as the best human being that ever wore a Cowboys jersey .

Gig ‘em, Dat! Love your story. God bless.

Great job Mr Nguyen Sr giving your children freedom and leading them in the knowledge of Jesus Christ! How much more can a dad give his kids.
As dat nguyen's niece, i can confirm his family is definitely religious!
@@HoaBlossom Awesome. There is no better way to live life than to live it for Jesus and to really know Him and experience His love!
Wow!! Awesome! I remember playing basketball against Dat in High School.
Was he any good in bb?

I'm a Red Raider, but Dat was the truth at Linebacker. Loved watching him play. I'm glad he is doing good

His Chick-fil-A store, located in the Montgomery Plaza area off of 7th Street, is always super busy but do a great job getting folks served. Always have been a great fan of Dat Nguyen at Texas A&M and now as a franchise owner.

He was one of the great ones!
What an incredible man
Great linebacker...Good for you Dat!!!!
Dat and Dexter Coakley never got the respect they deserved for their play because they weren't physically imposing. Both crushed it in Dallas.
Very inspiring. God bless.
Dat Nguyen is great! Thank you for an inspiring, and informative interview!
DAT IS A BEAST!!!! Loved watching him when he played for Dallas was my Fave player at the time!!!

It's easy to see why this man is successful. We need more men and women to be examples for this generation.
Beautiful!
I'm so happy to hear he's doing good he's one of the most underrated players in my life really solid linebacker and an awesome dude glad the success has followed you from the game into business now
Anyone who says that this country isn't a land of opportunity is a fool. From a refugee camp to what he is now. Just, damn.
I don't think anyone denies it's a land of opportunity. That's a trope. That being said we need to make sure it STAYS that way which it doesn't seem to be doing with economic collapse on the horizon.
What a great man to work so hard to spread the word of God to our youth!
Amazing story and testament to Christ our Lord
Great video! He has just an amazing story!
Dat is a HERO period. His upbringing and his impact are the stuff of legend. A wonderful player and a better human being. What an impact he is on the Cowboys and the community at large. Wow!

This Guy is The American Dream
There are many more like him, sports or business wise... should expose more of them .. giving hopes to our young people.
The sugar bowl was epic
Not just TA&MAll-American, Hall of Famer!

His Mom makes the best egg rolls ever...
Where is his Chik-Fil-a located in FT Worth?
Dat should go to Albuquerque, and open a Chick-fil-a across the street from Gus Fring's place!
Ok, God chose you of all the kids. You are blessed. What about the other little kids? What did they do to deserve their fate?
I love how he ties his origins back to his elders'. However Bình Đa does not mean port as he said
Ben da , vung tau
His name is Dat(Đạt)means success, degree of completion, perfection. Accomplishment can also refer to the completion of something according to the intended purposes.
Dat was so kind not to correct the host - VietManese 😂
❤❤❤❤
yeah, yeah, right,right,yeah.yeah...
I didn't know he was a Christian. I grew up in San Diego, where a lot of Vietnamese families were settled. How did he get to be so big? Most Vietnamese people are not that big.
First Asian starter in the NFL.
No. Roman Gabriel a starting quarterback of the Los Angeles Rams in the 60s, was the first Asian in the NFL.
If his family only came to Louisiana and Dat wind up playing for Tulane or LSU and ultimately for the saints..and he would be the true WhoDat.
I loved Dat Nguyen as a player at A&M and Cowboys. And I hate the Cowboys!
Who Dat!!!
Not enough can be said about Nguyen on several levels. Could have used about 80% fewer wows, yeahs, etc..
I agree on both comments! - Jeff Sanders
Love him, love his time in Football in college and with the cowboys… Disappointed and disgusted to find out he’s with Chick-fil-A. A racist homophobia, anti immigrant, xenophobic company… This one hurts Dat what? 😱
You don't HAVE to buy chicken from Chick-Fil-A. This is America; you have freedom of choice. Don't be such a narrow-minded bigot.
You're either a paid shill or not very well informed. You're just throwing words at other people that have no basis in reality, that's called slander.
He’s an immigrant chucklenuts!
you should still pray the Rosary my good brother
