There used to be a rule that no building could be taller than the highest tree in MK in order not to ruin the view but they got rid of the rule and now we have buildings like the hotel la tour. Milton Keynes was built in mind of cars/transport, pedestrians, families and cyclists so there are many green spaces, redways, bridges/underpasses and roads with roundabouts. It was built between London and Birmingham due to the lack of residential space in the two places from growing population so it sits nicely on the railway line to take you directly to both places for those who had to commute to work. The grid layout is orientated to line up with the sun cycle of the summer solstice which is why there is Midsummer Boulevard. 7:14 - it's an outdoor stage Great video and hoped you liked the large amount of walking.
Looks like a mini Boca Raton in south florida with all the tree hedged parking lots, avenues, wide streets... and of course won't forget the yellow gabled houses :D
I hope you understand how much these comments make me happy. Much of my life I’ve had trouble being happy I still have issues lots of the time. Thank you soo much.
@@Arthur_UK I have been vlogging for around a year now, and started off with no subs at all and ended up with an amazing community, I can tell you will go along way with UA-cam. You break your videos up in small manageable bite sizes which always keeps people watching along with good commentary as I mentioned b4. I will give you a shout out on an upcoming video if you like on my channel, again stay positive and I’m sure UA-cam will keep you happy and busy, all the best.
Thanks a lot, I’d appreciate a shout out if that’s what you’d be willing to do!! (Only if you think my kind of content is what your community would enjoy)
Always the same. People go to milton keynes and slag it cos the centre. Maybe go 2 minutes from the centre and see the abundance of parks, lakes footpaths. Endless. Its so accessible from car, foot, bike whatever. Its genius. Most roads are duel carriageway and are national speed limit. Spent many days wondering around the red way without a care 😊
I am an old man now, but in my day Milton Keynes was famous for its concrete cows. I am catching up with a few of your videos - seen the Sheffield one (I live close by) and the Blackpool one.
Thanks, I appreciate the support. My dad told me to go the concrete cows but I never did. Would you be able to ask me 2 or 3 questions about UA-cam or travel? It’ll help a lot.
Most American cities are new, with new urban planning designed around the use of the car. Austin, for example, was founded in 1836, but 90% of it was built after World War II. You must own a car in virtually all American cities. London (UK), however, is full of history, going back to Roman times. Go to Bath: there are the Roman bath houses. If you travel abroad, Rome and Pompeii are fascinating destinations. Visit the Pantheon, which has stood in Rome for 2000 years. If you visit Scotland, look at Hadrian's Wall, then Edinburgh and St. Andrews. These destinations could result in many terrific future videos !
Great video as always! I have always found Milton Keynes quite weird actually due to the grid pattern, but the history of computing that is in that area is really cool👍
I see you added some content at the end. Apparently, what you saw near the end is a small outdoor stage area in Campbell Park. You definitely need a bigger skateboard! Looking forward to your East End video. I was brought up in Peckham, in south east London.
I do have a London video on the way. I haven’t used the trams but I will use more trams at some point. Would you be able to ask me some questions about l UA-cam and travel for a Q & A please

You should have visited the coffee shop in this shopping centre. They have THE BEST hot chocolate in the world. I used to go there every day.
I’m from Miami, and yes - I can confirm this place looks like parts of some cities in the US. I think it has a lot of potential, but that ugly pyramid thing has to go.
Another thing I would like to see with Milton Keynes is they only build detached homes. In my opinion, the UK is a nice country but let down by far too much terraced housing.
@@ThomasField-t8i Thanks for commenting. Yes, I’m trying to work out what the most British American city is. Boston, Massachusetts is almost certainly name after Boston, England. It’s probably to do with the 13 colonies.
It looks a great place for the neurodivergent, and people not keen on people, I wonder if I can get my bike down there on a train? Looks a great place to run around, nice!
It’s not a bad idea. I would like to see two or three more new cities in the UK built on the MK model. It will add to diversity of the landscape and also help to take some load off some other cities if we have some people move away to these new cities.
The issue is, though, that Britain isn’t as well established for an entirely motor-dependent city; many major UK cities, instead of embracing cars, have done all they can to penalise motorists and embrace public transport. A city solely meant for cars isn’t really economically viable in Europe.
@@JamezGamez1 Not sure about this. I think it’s tradition. UK tends to be a really tradition oriented nation (which is normally good but can sometimes have setbacks). Look how much hostility there was to skyscrapers in London when they were first built. Everyone said Skyscrapers are not a British thing. Today, those skyscrapers have added much to the London landscape and skyline. They are also going up quickly in places like Manchester up North because they don’t want to be left behind. I would personally likely to see them go significantly higher. As for MK, more people will move to the city as it becomes more established. I think a few more cities on the MK model will be good. I don’t want too many as it will lose the novelty, but a few will be good.

The city center is a very strange place and it’s massive. Thanks for watching!!

Yeah, It feels very American when your actually in the city!!
There are loads of pedestrians here!
There are but it’s not particularly pedestrian friendly in my experience. What do you think?
Another informative video, top marks

Yeah, it is a very strange place. What do you think America’s most British city is?
@Arthur_UK Hmm, probably Boston.
Is Seattle the most British city in the US. Its similar to city in the north west that rains a bit.
I might be I don’t really know. I want to come to Seattle one day. Do you live there?
I would say Boston is the most British city in America. There is also a town or city in the UK called Boston. It’s near the East coast of the UK.
